Sing baby, Clara my woman ya'll. This must be a recording from the mid 60's - late 60's her voice is a little lower that it's usual state. But it could be me. Anyhow great post.
Hmm, According to my records, this song was recorded in New York City on March 7, 1955. Singers on this song included Mother Ward, Clara Ward, Henrietta Waddy, Marion Williams, Willa Ward, Frances Steadman & Kitty Parham. I think Clara is just tired, by this year 1955, she been singing for quite some time.
Wow! Kenji, shame on you. But you are probably so right. Willa Ward even talked about in her book, her over possessive and over bearing Mother Ward was to Clara. Maybe that's why Willa married just to find a good reason to leave the group. lol.
I know you telling hte truth. But I love Mother Ward, she was just a mother. Sometimes they can be very hard on their children. But a mother loves her children all the time and she did put all her energy into making Clara Ward the best. It paid off, but I believe Clara got the sad end of it, but the stress, lime-light, recording, traveling all over the world, finally got the best of her. Medically speaking strokes don't just occur, most time, they are often onset by something.
To add to this Willa was quite open about everything including in her life and especially Clara's.I think Willa didn't want her life to be like her mother's either. Madame Ward was something else she resented Willa becuase Willa went out and had a successful homelife.Gert was one of the main reason's Clara's not with us today. She knew how to control her own daughter with guilt. All in all it's good that Willa and her mother got right with each other before she died. That's all that counts!
Yeah, But we as parents have to be careful not control our children, but give them freedom to make their own choices, whether good or bad. We all had to learn that way. But I do miss Clara, she was such a beautiful little red rose. thanks for add Tim.
@PurpleSnowman29 When the bible says train up a child, it mean set before them a standard, and it also gives us choice, as he says, Choose ye this day. Ive noticed that rebellousness comes from not wanting to be Controled,Many times people dont see christ when people pull them aside and tell them things, they see people in the church trying to control them. I always say, invite people to church, let them hear, read, accept, and make the changes that the word of god tells them to, not man.
Did Sallie Martin sing this too?
