You're absolutely correct - he has every right to create a vocal arrangement. Much as people have the right to gender reassignment (which I think is more natural). Reducing liturgical texts to grace notes and omitting whole phrases of the Gloria means that it's nothing short of a parody. A pretty one, but still a parody. It's a personal opinion (voiced in the same spirit that the author undertook to add lyrics to an instrumental work), but the author has every right, as you say.

@JWB13579 , i think historically you'll find more christian works of music being hijacked for secular use, even today there are several love songs that were first written with 'Jesus/Lord' in place of 'Baby' . Besides, who elected you Supreme Master of Music and Ceremony, get over yourself; if you had your way this EXCELLENT work of music would not exist, and that would be a great injustice to me and to every one else here who appreciates this beautiful work.
