i cant seem to get my mag to work for my sks...when the rounds come up from the mag the bolt shoves them right below the chamber. any have any ideas? can i fix my mag???
Is it the original mag, or an aftermarket? I noticed that usually the aftermarket ones can have problems,, not saying they all do, but it occasionally happens. You could try to stretch the spring for the mag,, but that can also make things worse, if all else fails, just get a new mag, preferabally an original SKS mag. Let me know how you make out!
it's actually an aftermarket surplus mag...some1 told me it was an ak mag with the sks bracket welded on it...(prob why it sucks) i do have the original 10 round dumper mag but i was looking for something with a higher capacity...i'll prob end just end up buying a new one...(as difficult as it is kuz i livein ny where anything more than 10 rounds is illegal,(post ban)
Actually another thing i should point out about the 7.62x39, is even though the round is called 7.62,, it actually is 7.92!! And the fact that it is .312, makes it technically a 31 caliber. It is a VERY POTENT ROUND,, and i feel very safe with my SKS walking through woods where there are bear and cougars occasionally sighted!
Ya man, I hear ya. It's crazy how people don't think they can be a target to large preds... and I guess it is their naive nature that will get them killed!

Don't use aftermarket high capacity mags in an SKS, they suck. Stick with the original hinged mag.

@BluezBro604 Check the Mag. Spring it is probably worn out.

so an sks would prob take down a bear wow and will it penetrate quarter inch steel
dirtbikerider407 2 years ago
Yes, for bear defense the best SKS bullet to use would prob be the 154 grain soft point, for steel penetration; you want FMJ.
