  • Alright, we all know this sounds like Tom Pettys-Free Falling (vise-versa) :P

  • GREAT SONG!

  • This song is one of my all time favourites from the 1980's. It's a very positive song. One that I put on when I am frustrated - and nothing goes my way. This song does it for me. And Steve Winwood is one of my favourite artists from the 1980's. It's a great song and I love it very much. GO STEVE!!! YOU ROCK!1!!

  • miller should use this as their theme song! LoL

  • @TiberiusStorm Miller did use this song in TV ads about 15 years ago --

  • @georgetownlaw95 i do remember that...

  • p-diddy boat dance

  • Well, first of all, I love that song too. That's why I already own the CD. I own all of Steve Winwood's shit. You should know this. And secondly, we have not been on the same page all day. We can't be spending money on CD's I already own. We're spending too much money as it is.

  • @HecklerKoch4Life Awesome quote... Dennis Renoylds is a golden GOD!!!!

  • 3 years of sobriety for me today!!!! Back in the high life spiritually again!!!

  • @squirtlepower2001 God Speed.

  • Boat music.

  • This song is about stumbling and maybe falling, but getting back up. It's inspirational. Let it fill your soul. Enjoy this music. There is not much like it anymore.

  • I love good music but I wont boast about my typing skills :P.

  • You old hags!...No but really I remember this when I was a kid. I grew to 60's music and developed during grunge.........Id likely skip this era all together. It was endearing and ill listen to it for nostalgia but truely music beore this was more....eh how do you say, natural. Good times though.

  • I'm just glad Valerie took him back...

  • Back in 87 i use to hang out at my friends apartment name Bruce..he would play this album on his turn table over and over again..Have no clue what ever happend to him..But when ever i hear this song it takes me right back to his place...good times

  • Backing vocals by James Taylor...

  • I had a great life filled with opportunities until I got on dope, got busted, and had to do some time which closed almost all my doors at that time 95. THis song was inspirational when I started getting clean, That was 15 years, 3 months ago and for all that time I've often played this song to remind myself that I could and would overcome my mistakes....and I pretty much have. So its true...all the doors that closed b4 (will) can open up again!

  • Love the punchy mandolin playing in this song.

  • Steve Winwood and Phil Collins are a lot alike.

  • you should know this i do love that song, i have all of steve winwoods albums, i love his stuff!

  • this is my high live.....

  • It's always sunny in Steve Winwood land.

  • Great song from a great singer-songwriter, and James Taylor chimes in at the 3:58 mark! Fantastik!

  • @ArniepII I love this song, I can't believe I didn't know Sweet Baby James was on this!

  • This is my favorite rock song, of all time!

  • Seeing all the trains in this video reminds me of my dad. He worked for the railway system for 42 years.I have missed you dearly pops the past two years. I have morned, cried, and been depressed far to long. I know you will understand even though you are gone you will always remain in my heart. Its time for the door that onced closed be reopened. I owe it to my kids and wife to get back in the High Life again..... I know you will understand

  • There are two kinds of people in the world: There are the ones who, when they get down and depressed, wallow in it by listening to the blues. Then there are the people who listen to this song.

  • @invicta1313 Spot on, I am just getting over chemo, need to go back in for my last treatment, my partner for 30 years had a affair while i was having Chemo, but forgave her, giving her a 2 chance, after all, i was given a 2 chance in life, so spreed the love, life is like a jigsaw puzzle, you have all the part's you just need to put them in the right order cheers.

  • you got a dip thong?

  • <------Doing the green inflatable man dance

  • Always Sunny!!!! Boat Music!

  • @dealme350 good for the implication

  • @dealme350 It's all about the implication.

  • Stevie has the greatest soul voice in the history of music - bar none.

  • " I Love That Dude "

  • " LIKE STEVIE NICKS!!!"

  • This song will get randomly stuck in my head at least once a week, I can't explain it, but I like it. :)

  • steve winwood?gigantic talent.

  • Classy right down to the mandolin ;)

  • "oh dennis was right, this is great boating music"

  • @Hutch32 SHUUUUT UUUUP

  • Southern Railway engine & cars, Amtrak F40's... even the railroad was a better place back then!

  • Sick denim Steve.

  • Nice Songz Is Perfect

  • I do love this man. hecko.

  • Great song!

  • steve gadd on the drums :)

  • just noticed something, the beginning of Tom Petty´s - Free Fallin' is pretty similar to this ;)

  • @MrKorton "Free Fallin" came out in 1989.. 3 years after "Back In The High Life Again". Coincidence? I think so.:)

  • @MrKorton I was almost sure that im listening tom petty for about 20 sec

  • Love this song! Steve Winwood is one of the best!

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder what phil collins singing this song would be like.

  • Frank was right - this is boat music!

  • I fucking love me some Steve Winwood.

  • trains and trench coats!

  • CBC used this song after the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup. They took clips from the awesome playoff run they had. But I cant seem to find the footage anywhere. Help anyone?

  • haha he looks like the dickhead EPA guy from Ghostbusters....(dude who shut the powergrid off)

  • I remember them playing this on CBS at the end of the NBA finals in 1987 after the the Lakers beat the Celtics kind of a "One shining moment" video....

  • @bw7497 Lakers channel used the first verse in a bit re: Magic Johnson's attempted return in 92 (after announcing his HIV). Lyrics in that verse were pretty appropriate for him.

  • @bw7497 Yep,thats right, Showtime!

  • Anyone have a Miller High Life beer???

  • Gimmie Some Lovin!

  • Love the high life! weeeeeee

  • I just saw this video and noticed two things. 1.) It was filmed in the next town over from me in Manassas and 2.) I know the guy in the background at 1:03

  • So hot he is!

  • Comment removed

  • Tasty Treats.

  • You canhear James taylor in the background and especially at about 3:59...great song.

  • One of my all time favorites of Steve Winwood!!

  • A classic!

  • This is one of the great songs of the 80s. Better than the mindless crap that comes out these days.

  • @budglover Very true statement about 'today's' music

  • @budglover Ohhhh, yeeee-ah....

  • @budglover You said it ;)

  • The drumming in this song is on another level.

  • Thumbs up if Sunny in Philadelphia has fuck all do with this song and it reminds you of your childhood or the best things in life.

  • they'll make rash decisions based on fear!

  • I heard Steve Winwoods brother, known as Muff played in a band called Nirvana (UK) back in the late 60's, nothing to do with Kurt Cobain's Nirvana, obviously. Can anyone confirm?

  • @doctorshifty83 It only says in the wikipedia entry for that band in the list of collaborators that he worked on production for them

  • You're right it was Blind Faith

  • @Cookie54ize he was in "Traffic"

  • Looks hot in this video

  • Boy do I miss this kind of music. They just don't make them like this anymore. Too bad! I'm sure glad I grew up during this era of music! This never gets old but stands the test of time!

  • @jewel1260 i hear you. this is great tunes.

  • Stevie Winwood was a genius at 15 years old.

  • Thanks for the info. I was looking for solo name. I would have thought that he would have been put in for what he has done as a solo.

  • Steve Winwood deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

  • He is! He was inducted as a member of Traffic and I think The Spencer Davis group. He has been eligible as a solo artist for several years now. He'll get it for sure.

  • @adamwwilkins100 I think he was in Cream or Blind Faith too with Eric Clapton also.

  • @gailloHorror shut ur mouth my life is pretty good stop trying to be a youtube gangster.. man u r insecure as fuck man u need to work on that.. much of the world smokes weed u would too u just cant afford it

  • Currently 17 people that would rather hear Steve sing about their low life's!

  • Man! i love his music, thanks for posting this.

  • I love this song. I love this video. In fact, it's one of my favourite song/videos ever. I love Steve's vocals, love the musicianship, love the mandolin. Genuine talent, and the video, itself, is simplistic and unpretentious. Truly a gem that will be around long after the manufactured garbage of today is blessedly forgotten. Thanks so much for posting this!!

  • You know if Youtube keeps putting advertisements into its videos, I will choose other options - daily motion & other video sharing sites not to mention grooveshark for when I just want the audio.........

  • Comment removed

  • @jusdoitokay no one cares, shut the fuck up

  • @pittistheshit86 ok, sorry and I also removed the comment. Sometimes I should just keep it in my head. Again sorry to bother your youtube viewing. Peace

  • a really nice song. it just flows...

  • Think about it. She's out in the middle of nowhere with some dude she barely knows. She looks around her, what does she see? Nothing but open ocean. "Oh, there's nowhere for me to run, what am I gonna do, say no?"

  • @GnardogTIM Huh?

  • I like the way videos back then look like they were made on a budget of $1,000 :D

  • Tomatos can give love forgive them for eating my blood my blood rains in my clouds everyone has there own clouds without getting high c level is mellow rolling jellow manifestation with ocean vibration fertilizing can be harmfull if over used if they sprout and blume isent that enough talking to them stimulates more satifation eat in motoration satizfaterly and thankfully love will come to thie brillyently from he who sent thie love from me

  • Back to Back Winwood...Back in the High Life Again!

  • Looks like a beautiful part of the world....Wonderful song...80's WAS the decade...I wish I had a flux capacitor!

  • wasn;t this video made in Virginia? does anyone have a recolection of where it was filmed? any info anyone...???

  • @fattypatty4eyedfatty It's in a city/town called Manassas (Virginia)...Apparently people have recognised the train station...Looks a cool place.

  • 16 people never went to the High Life in the first place so they cant come back- : (

  • tight bro

  • 600,000 people can't be wrong.

  • What a tune to rediscover things....

  • god the music of the 80,s kicked ass!!!!

  • tasty treats ;)

  • the best part of the video was the "skip this ad" button.

  • F Scott Fitzgerald once said, "Vitality does not show itself merely in the ability to perservere, but also in the ability to start over." I will add also "To hang in there, too."

    Roll with it. LOL.

  • My teenage years were the eighties. I turned 11 years old in 1982 and I turned 18 in 1989. I turned 19 in 1990, 20 in 1991, so I saw the eighties and nineties when young and I am still young. cock-a-doodle-doo!

  • @DeMarkieSade You lucked out. I wasn't a teenager until the early nineties. The 70s and 80s were the best decades to be a teenager or twenty something.

  • @RetroJenny Well, Jenny, hey, it is like the old Bob Seger song "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" everyone can bring back those kicking times and the kicking music, If everyone would snap out of this Hip-Hop/Rap, bunga unga bullshit and get their heads out of their asses. MtV is useless anymore. I remember when the "Headbangers Ball" was on there and "Metal Meltdown" and all kinds of good guitar driven rock-and-roll. Live rock concert coverage "Guns and Roses Live at the Ritz," etc.

  • This new age stuff they call rock and roll, isnt rock and roll, it is garbage that makes no sense. That grunge stuff started it, and ever since, it has went down hill. Ever since douche bags started picking up and trying to play guitars. With the exception of a few bands still doing it right, good rock and roll ended around the latter part of the Eighties. Listen to some old "Quiet Riot" or "Wasp" or "Ozzy" from the Eighties and see the difference: the guitars were better, the music kicked.

  • @DeMarkieSade New Age isnt this.....New Age sounds nothing close to this. I believe youre using terms loosely friend.

  • tiny guitar YAY

  • thumbs up if the beginning sounds like free fallin

  • I love the high life.lol

  • Go Winwood or go home

  • How come this guy is consistently goo. He never writes or issues a bad song. Best of luck stargazer2756 I'm like you.

  • 16 people are 'low lifes'

  • Not a big Steve Winwood fan but this is a good song

  • good song to blaze it up to 420

  • @sissyman2000 Only assholes "blaze up". So many fucking people think they'e cool shit when they smoke weed, and get high as fuck.

It's a fucking pathetic excuse to alter reality because their life sucks nuts.

You have no clue what the "high" life is about. Keep bagging my groceries

  • @GialloHorror

    YESS!! Thank you!

  • @GialloHorror Wow, that was a really uncalledfor response to 'good song to blaze it up to 420.' He wasn't even refering to the songs title, so how can you infer he was? Besides, maybe their life does suck, maybe they went through a lot of shit like their dad beat them as a child? Who the hell do you think you are to throw any judgement down on people? You have no clue dude, and for you to go trolling on the internet like that is just retarded.

  • @MotoScootMech Take a flying leap fucktard. I don't give a shit if his father raped him.

Bragging about doing drugs is fucking stupid, and shows how weak of a person you are. I'm entitled to my opinion. I'm not trolling shit. I happen to like this song, and listen to it often. And I know he wasn't referring to the song's title. he's too fucking stupid for that, just like you are not have figured out I was using a pun to make my point.

Go back to the deep fryer asswipe and get off my nuts

  • @GialloHorror How do you know he was bragging about drugs? I mean, I like this song too and i wouldnt necessarily want to get high to it but still. Besides, theres all kinds of assholes out there who brag about shit and letting all of that get to you seems just like a waste. But yea, dont really know why I said the shit i said before... maybe i was in a bad mood or something? Anyways this is a nice song and lets hope less idiots brag about doing drugs... they're just posers anyways.

  • @GialloHorror But honestly, cut back on the name calling. If you want to talk about showing weak points the method you use to make people feel worse which makes yourself feel better via namecalling is quite the weak point. Anyways, just words of advice and sorry for the shit i said before... i dont even know why i said that but i made a mistake.

  • @GialloHorror This might be a stretch but he could be just remarking that its a good song to get high to or suggesting that its a good song to get high to. Idk bragging or not? Its kind of a gray area to me.

  • @GialloHorror Couldn't have said it myself. I don't care what people have been through in thier lives. Just because you may have had a poor upbringing doesn't mean you have to be the same way. I love MotoScootMechs response to you... you don't know what he has been through. Give me a break. Poor excuse to act subhuman. Quit smoking weed & breakin the law and contribute. My dad got his ass kicked daily by his father almost daily and he chose not to do the same thing to my brother & I. Excuses.

  • @BTown1979 I totally agree man. Everyone is their own person and, ultimately, makes their own decisions.

I guess I never understood why people think getting high is cool. Why anyone would brag about being so fucking stupid is beyond me. There's nothing cool about getting high, at all. Your'e absolute right about people contributing.

Today's society is a bunch of lazy fucks who make excuses, instead of making their own way. That's why society is in the state it's in today.

  • @GialloHorror I actually inteneded to make a positive comment on how great and meaningful the song was to me..... and then (like a dummy) I started looking at the other comments and thats about as far as I got with that last comment. Anyway cheers to a great song. Long live the 80's and early 90's!

  • other than my father...this is the one bloke who consistently wet my mother's panties...she would drool whenever he came on.

  • holy shit this song is awesome

  • 80's music is best!

  • I'm listening to this the next time I can smoke weed... in 6 years...

It'll be like meeting up with a long lost friend.... back in the high life again....

  • @TheJesus318 join the navy or something? lol

  • ...you know... because of the implications.

  • @LoveYourMonsterMusic "You'd be in no real danger." "So these women ARE in danger..."

  • Life is Beautiful.

  • double breasted jacket... damn.... that's pretty ballzy.

  • Thumbs up if Always Sunny In Philadelphia reminded you of this song

  • @grove12345 Thumbs up if you don't need some fucking stupid television, or video game show to remind you of how GREAT songs from the past are.

  • Thumbs up if you were reminded of this song watching by Sunny In Philadelphia

  • as I listen to this I close my eyes and Im back in the 80s !

  • is this song about weed?

  • @stangoldsmith about life in general, I am thinking.........changes,etc..

  • is this song in any movie its driving me nuts but i luv this song

  • fantasticos anos 80 os melhores de minha vida!!!

  • Ive never seen this video, but i have listened to this song-album a thousand times at

    least.

  • @klw8131 This was filmed in a dream called "success", where all the men wear Ray-Bans, all the women wear cashmere coats, and all roads lead back to the high life.

  • I've often wondered where this video was filmed.

  • ..wasn;t this used in the opening credits of 21 Jump street? in the 80's?....I swear it was :)

  • @RAIDERS7009 Finally, somebody else remembers this being on 21 Jump Street. Seems to me it was the background music as Johnny Depp and Peter Deluise walked into a high school as undercover cops for the first time. That awesome choice of music for that scene just always stuck with me. But Johnny was destined to become a pirate :)

  • the fifteen people who dislike this must be high and livin' under a rock... : /. This song is fantasitc!

  • @MoreForMo24 i agree most likely 80% brain dead

  • i totally had to look this song up after watching sunny in philadelphia...great show and great song

  • Gimmie Some Lovin!!

  • And this is what I felt like when I got lucky and found the right one! I was once again happy, which I had long felt was never going to come back for me. Now we have a family!

  • @prouddadx2 Shutup fag.

  • @ChriskOsborne HAHA, Soppy Bastard isnt he Chris? @ prouddadx2

  • @prouddadx2 Good for you.

  • This song is great for anybody who is feeling down in life. My dad lost his job 3 years ago and he has seemed like a lost soul since then. I am gonna have him listen to this song, especially the part "All the doors that closed that time will open up again"

  • exxodus29, really, the worst? I might agree with fashion but people like Clapton, Winwood, Bon Jovi, Doobie Bros....etc, came up through 70's were feeling good & it was in their music! Michael Jackson's "Thriller" Tom Petty....were peeking. Don't forget, the 80's? We were still interacting with each other, not closed up in our homes on the computer like we are now.

  • Tremendous artist - singer, songwriter, keys, guitar, mando...

  • Dennis Reynolds Approve's
