can someone also explain who in these omnibuses it gives you issues like 1 - 55 then skips to like 600-666 ? does it just collect the most interesting parts of each of the marvel franchises ?
@TimeSplittersChimp Marvel has a habit of messing with their numberings. They often relaunch a series, starting from #1 again. This is usually to mark a new storyline or run thats meant to draw in new readers, not unlike DC's New52. But when the total number of issues reach a landmark number they'll renumber the series and go back to the original numbering. The JMS Thor omnibus starts with Thor #1, which was the relaunched title, but switched to the old numbering (600) after 12.
Hey guys I need a bit of help. I have recently started collecting comics due to the new DC 52 making it feel easy for me to begin with number 1 rather than jump into a series in the 800's, I am also quite knowledgeable about Batman and have always loved him so that helps. I want to get into some Marvel though, Spiderman X-Men Thor ect which I have grown up with but not to the extent I have with Batman. I don't know much and want an Omnibus which will be easy for me to read and not feel lost, ?
@Yoni123 Yeah these omnis are going for ridiculous prices. I doubt Marvel will reprint though. Instead of doing that they've released the content in a three volume TPB set. Its pretty economical (the whole thing can be had for 75 bucks when both omnis went for a combined 120 brand new) but of course doesn't have the prestige of the omnibuses.
I'm a big DD fan but still haven't read any of Bendis's run (I know, blasphemy). Just ordered the TPB of volume 1, can't wait for its arrival.
