Is this game from a FPS or a 3rd person perspective? Seeing the tank driver run around gives me the impression it might do both depending if the person is aiming or not.

You can use HEAT Rounds against other tanks because of the type of Armor they have or dont have . Situation dictates. The preferred ammo for us tank gunners is sabot against other high threat targets and using HEAT for light armor vehicles, but situation dictates.. Thats why you need to know how to POSID your target. Thats what you learn in tanker school.
Unfortunately, the T-90 model isn't exactly the most realistic I've ever seen (The one in FFUR-SLX mod for OFP comes to mind), but hopefully community will take care of that...along with the laser range finders and thermal visors.
I wish I knew why people still use fraps to record. There is ZD soft, you know? It doesn't really reduce your fps when you're recording and it still looks damn good.

The PS3 is nothing more the a dedicated gaming computer. However it is more advanced then the 360 because you can put your own OS on it and make it yours. So basically it is a PC just minus winblows.

I'm sure they don't want to "limit" arma 2 to the PC, its technical constraints. Hardware capabilities, and playable media storage constraints. You guys on consoles have to realize they aren't the most capable things on the planet, and it's actually harder to make sandbox games such as this one function on a console over a PC. I own a 360 and a PS3 as well as my gaming rig and a macbook lol. Consoles are for kids, gaming PC's are for an older audience with the skill and knowledge to use them.

Complex yes, but no wheres near the power of a good gaming PC. Consoles are from my experience for kids. The online play is nothing but screaming pre-pubescent 13-18 year olds. XBOX Live being the worst of the two. And please don't generalize and make up stats. I'm willing to bet a chocolate chip cookie that the majority of PS3/XBOX owners are under 18 years of age.
I'm 100% serious. XBOX Live is horrid. COD4 and COD:MW are a joke most of the time, and Gears of War 1 and 2 usually have games packed full of little kids screaming over the mic's just because they can. I have no interest in that whatsoever. Great way to ruin a chance to relax, and an excellent way to make sure more mature players never come back.

Compared to the PC, and the serious lack of space for the playable media (dual layer dvd's) this game is going to be missing probably just under half its intended content. Its a 10g install on a PC so a 8.4gb dual layer - all the information the xbox/PS3 needs to actually run the game doesn't leave the dev's with a whole lot. If you enjoy the gaming experience on consoles thats great, personally I try and avoid the screaming pre-pubescent kids screaming on the comms.

I hear ya dude, I'm 24 now so I pay for all my toys now, but I got lucky and my dad bought me my first gaming PC at 17, lol mind you a P3 back then was the baddest thing on the planet along with my 256mb of ram, and Voodoo 5 AGP card with 64mb of ram lol. Ahh the gold 'ol days. But just an FYI a decent gaming rig can be had for 700-800$ U.S.

Hard to discern things at a distance on this video. How do you like the performance overall, is it good in person? One thing about Arma was the horrible optimization, how is it in Arma2?
Performance is good when Fraps isn't running, it's just a bit chunky at times while being recorded. ArmA2 seems to be much more optimized than the original.
If you're having trouble making things out, watch in HD and then put it on fullscreen. It looks pretty stellar that way.
I think you'll be fine to play. There are a lot of different detail options, so if you're not happy with performance you can always turn things down a little bit.
I've got my settings pretty high, and Fraps takes off at least 1/2. Usually I'm running at about 35-40fps on a Core i7 920 and GTX 280 with 6GB of DDR3.
How funny i have the i7 920 but i have dual EVGA GTX 295 with 12GB of RAM. What sucks is i have no games to play, But the first game im getting is going to be ARMA 2 but i live in the US and I dont speak German so im going to have to wait in tell AMRA 2 comes out for the US

There are english voices in the campaign and I've also heard english in mutli. When the voices are in other languages, the english patch provides the english translations of what is being said. Online play works fine, just keep in mind that right now there are only servers in Germany.
Question : I'm considering buying the germal version and using english text patch, will voices still be in german and will online play work with this patch?
You could never put a game like this on console without removing most of the content. Console gamers are just too dumb to understand that

I'm sure they don't want to "limit" arma 2 to the PC, its technical constraints. Hardware capabilities, and playable media storage constraints. You guys on consoles have to realize they aren't the most capable things on the planet, and it's actually harder to make sandbox games such as this one function on a console over a PC. I own a 360 and a PS3 as well as my gaming rig and a macbook lol. Consoles are for kids, gaming PC's are for an older audience with the skill and knowledge to use them.

Complex yes, but no wheres near the power of a good gaming PC. Consoles are from my experience for kids. The online play is nothing but screaming pre-pubescent 13-18 year olds. XBOX Live being the worst of the two. And please don't generalize and make up stats. I'm willing to bet a chocolate chip cookie that the majority of PS3/XBOX owners are under 18 years of age.

I'm 100% serious. XBOX Live is horrid. COD4 and COD:MW are a joke most of the time, and Gears of War 1 and 2 usually have games packed full of little kids screaming over the mic's just because they can. I have no interest in that whatsoever. Great way to ruin a chance to relax, and an excellent way to make sure more mature players never come back.

PC hardware will have already surpassed when they have created within 1-3 months. You guys do not get the concept of what technology is and what it does and where it is going. A computer is a computer is a computer. It is what drives the computer that makes it good or bad.
PCs are just as good if not better at running games. One of the things that kills console gaming... menus and interfaces. They all suck. KBM is where it is at.

Compared to the PC, and the serious lack of space for the playable media (dual layer dvd's) this game is going to be missing probably just under half its intended content. Its a 10g install on a PC so a 8.4gb dual layer - all the information the xbox/PS3 needs to actually run the game doesn't leave the dev's with a whole lot. If you enjoy the gaming experience on consoles thats great, personally I try and avoid the screaming pre-pubescent kids screaming on the comms.

I hear ya dude, I'm 24 now so I pay for all my toys now, but I got lucky and my dad bought me my first gaming PC at 17, lol mind you a P3 back then was the baddest thing on the planet along with my 256mb of ram, and Voodoo 5 AGP card with 64mb of ram lol. Ahh the gold 'ol days. But just an FYI a decent gaming rig can be had for 700-800$ U.S.

Still its hard to hold down a job because of soccer and my extreme dedication to my academics. Hopefully it will all pay off in the end when i have a good enough jod to where i can buy whateverthehelliwant.....but until then i guess i just have to scrounge all the cash i get.

Hard to discern things at a distance on this video. How do you like the performance overall, is it good in person? One thing about Arma was the horrible optimization, how is it in Arma2?

Performance is good when Fraps isn't running, it's just a bit chunky at times while being recorded. ArmA2 seems to be much more optimized than the original.
If you're having trouble making things out, watch in HD and then put it on fullscreen. It looks pretty stellar that way.

I think you'll be fine to play. There are a lot of different detail options, so if you're not happy with performance you can always turn things down a little bit.
I've got my settings pretty high, and Fraps takes off at least 1/2. Usually I'm running at about 35-40fps on a Core i7 920 and GTX 280 with 6GB of DDR3.

There are english voices in the campaign and I've also heard english in mutli. When the voices are in other languages, the english patch provides the english translations of what is being said. Online play works fine, just keep in mind that right now there are only servers in Germany.
