@Freedan111 - YOU JUST GOT TO LOVE COPY/PASTE, AIN'T YOU? I DON'T LIKE DEMOCRATS AND I SURE HATE REPUBLICANS EVEN WORSE THAT'S WHY I'M AN INDEPENDANT!!
I was going respond to someone who emailed me until I saw a comment from a person called karatikidx.... his statement ..verbatem: "Back in the day when you went on strike, losing your income was a consequence that you had to consider. That's why people weren't on strike all of the time everywhere." Guess how old this guy is? 23..bahahaha.. And I am pretty sure he failed his history class. How ignorant do you have to be to make a statement like that...that is so Glen Beckish...
What I got out of this was that the law was that you can't use food stamps to GO on strike. Sometimes Cenk seems really fair and other times, like this, he seems to go way out of his way to mis-characterize things. Using food stamps to maintain a strike is forcing others to finance your private business dealings. Seems pretty scummy to me. The fact that it exempts people already on food stamps makes the intent clear. It doesn't matter how much it saves; it's a matter of principle.
Cenk i thought you were a semi-reasonable guy but you lost me here. Why would someone making union wages be on food stamps??? I believe this law should be passed ASAFP. YOU are so wrong on this topic.
No this may not save hardly any money but it seems like common sense. Cenk you usually show common sense but I guess not here. If you choose not to work when you had a job then thats your fault and there are consequences. I think this is a moral decision. You refuse to work when you had a job, there should be consequences.
We are slowly becoming a corporate dictatorship where the richest 1% has absolute power over the rest of the 99%. The Republicans working to bring this about are no different than the Bolsheviks of the early 20th century. They may be on opposite sides of the political spectrum but they are equally radical and extreme and always end up with a very small group of people holding absolute power over everyone else. People are too apathetic to realize it or care which makes it very much possible.
Back in the day when you went on strike, losing your income was a consequence that you had to consider. That's why people weren't on strike all of the time everywhere.
North Korea > imprisons the entire family if you ran way and maybe even your neighbours... execution for all of them if you are unlucky just because you are running away
dum dum I hate conservatives
USA > if you protest you wont get food stamps... Conservatives, i have an idea for you! Go to North Korea!
@hughster41 if the person is on strike they are not exactly making 100k a year or even to feed thier familiy, i met a man once whose income was below the poverty line for a single person and he was taking care of his wife and two kids, underemployment is a bitch also i'd rather pay 12 million to feed a bunch of people on strike than pay for a bunch new stealth fighters for the airforce at 12 million per plane.
The lower middle class is the class that goes on strike the most - obviously the Republicans are coming after their biggest enemy - the lower middle class.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm a fan of real, groundbreaking journalism.
A woman was gang raped in Libya and made her way to the Journalist compound in the country before she was brutally silenced. Like this so people can see it and spread it around. Be a part of proper journalism at work
But Republicans have strong family values and love Jesus, Cenk, We'd be crazy to let those pot-smoking atheist liberal socialists run our country. They're un-American.
The United States far-right extremism in a nutshell.
You don't have money, the3n starve. No morals, no pinricples, and they say they are "Christian".
Haha if Christ would come here, the first thing he'd do is to spit upon capitalism and what it has created in form of increased poverty for the masses.
Wish I could give this TYT clipp two thumbs up! Just when I think republicans can stoop no lower, they come up with this shit to please their well-heeled masters.
Cenk.. take this to MSNBC and run with it! This is worse then what they are doing in Wisconsin.
First George Bush took our 4th amendment rights in his presidency, and now we have a congressmen trying to take away our 1st? Complete bullshit.. if there isn't an uproar in Texas then they are fools.
When are people going to wake up and say we can't take this anymore, we have to get rid of our fascist dictators!?
This kind of stuff shows just how evil these people you have elected are and how far they will go to stand up for the corporations. Keep it up and the rest of the world will be sending you foreign aid!
Sorry, I thought Dictatorships like North Korea and China were the ones that denied food to people and let them starve because of their political beliefs.
look @ size of us compared 2 u?? isnt such a big surprise who won u plonker, we dont care, we owned half the world n we dont boast about it or celebrate it every year or lie about what actually happened, silly man u r
Hey America, do you see the bullets yet? It's fucking obvious the Rich have declared all-out war on you working people and the majority of you guys don't even seem to notice. Could you peel your face off the TV and "Dancing With The Stars" for a second and take a look?
Like Clyde Shelton said in "Law Abiding Citizen", "This is Von Clausewitz shit. Total fucking war." That's what the 2010 election and the Wisconsin fiasco was. War was declared ON YOU.
@Houshalter - You don't need a state to have war. Hunter-gatherer tribes can go to war. Two individuals can go to war. But in this case corporate America is using the state to enact war on the citizens, such as buying governors to bust unions and hurt workers who go on strike in Maine.
O.K Cenk does that mean you are going to go after GE for not paying any taxes? Or stay silent because Jeffery Emelt signs your check on messNBC? Where's your "out rage" on it? Looked through your vids and nothing. Hypocrite .
They should make food stamps like WIC. It'd save so much money, and would only allow for the people who are presently abusing the system to only receive milk, eggs, bread, tuna, cheese, and juice. WIC is a program directed to young mothers and babies and it promotes healthy lifestyles and eating. Why not for everyone? I'd prefer that over some poor ass buying candy and soda with food stamps.
It's about time this welfare bullshit is to be cut down or cut out. Millions of hard working American are getting tired of the millions of lazy asses living of the work of others.
i hate u fn americans, and everybody else does, but u think everyone loves u, u big headed idiots, your way is the only way, SO FUCKING WRONG!, U R DESTROYING THE FREE WORLD. AMERICAN IDIOTS
@alwayshardcore100 yeah, like we give a shit. Kicked your ass twice, then turned arouns and saved you ass twice. You should be on your kneees everyday thanking America that you're not speaking Germany. but that's like a bunch of unthankfull socialist Brit pricks.
@MrSTANDFORAMERICA u only entered that war for money, u never saved our arse we had 2 pay you's u idiot, n that in turn payed for your war on japan so be happy your not talking fn japanese
@jpav0923 we'll see how far you get in life working a shitload of hours for chump change and patting yourself on the back for not being 'lazy.' i work a ridiculous amount of hours, but i'm smart enough to know that it sucks to need 2 jobs to pay the bills.
and i didn't call you lazy, i said your grandfather probably would have, fool.
@C0ct0pusPrime Well I guess since you knew my grandfather so much better than I did you are in a position to speak for him.
I hated lazy people. He was disgusted by people who took govt handouts because he never did. He came to this country with NOTHING, but he didn't look for a handout - he worked.
He taught the work ethic to his kids and grand kids and he had contempt for people who thought they were owed something. Nobody owes you anything - work for it. He taught me that.
@jpav0923 He came to this country with NOTHING (peniless), but he loved this country because he believed that here you could make something of yourself if you were willing to work for it.
He had a 3rd grade education, but he retired quite comfortably and left an inheritence to his children and grandchildren. He had 15 grand children and all 15 have a MINIMUM of a bachelor's degree. Most have far more than that.
HE taught us that you achieved through work and people who didn't sucked.
@jpav0923 let me make this really simple for you.
people who might not have a choice but to take a govt handout to help their kids (or even their businesses) survive don't necessarily have bad work ethic. a person with 3 children can have the best work ethic ever, but still can't survive on minimum wage with no benefits. this isn't about handouts and laziness, its about treating common workers with enough respect so that their work ethic is justified and they don't NEED handouts. get it?
@C0ct0pusPrime Then get a second job and give up cable TV, cell phones, and air conditioning. Set your thermostat at 55 in the winter (you won't freeze) and shop at Costco and use coupons.
I guess I have a different definition of hard work than most people. Working 40 hours/wk is not hard work - it is the minimum of what is expected.
I love how Cenk pronounces "Gooowwwwlmert" every single time he has to talk about that douche (It's the same guy who said, "Jesus would be against the Estate tax")
It is NOT WRONG! In a Society where the the Citizenry is taxed from EVERY CONCEIVABLE DIRECTION; having to be subjugate to the very people who are CONSTITUTIONALLY SUPPOSED TO BE SUBJUGATE TO US -both elected AND HIRED CIVIL "servants" cops, etc.- OUR BASIC NEEDS SHOULD NOT BE IN THE REALM OF COMMERCE! Much less having to be reach some sort of POVERTY LINE to receive assistance!
What we are seeing is the consolidation of the Political Class; a term that 5-10 years ago we would NEVER hear a politician call themselves because of the implication of Them over Us. For the most part, the Ruling Class (call it what it is!) of BOTH PARTIES are driving the United States into a Right-Wing, Totalitarian Dictatorship where only a few are allowed to vote and choose from a pre-determined pool of PIGS. Anyone that thinks otherwise, look at Obadmouth's Senate record and him now!
So if you're working and already on food stamps because your job pays so little, and you go on strike over working conditions or a living wage, they'll take away your food.
I work at a major instituion where a third of the workers are on food stamps, and the two parents in any family hold at least 3 jobs between them.
@DeathKorps94 Im a liberal by all intensive purposes and I agree with you completely. Why would you go on strike and cut off your income if youre making it only on food stamps? Its your responsibility to your family to feed them. I agree with you unless theyre getting (literally/figuretively) robbed and people are screwing them over. That I understand. you might have to do an extra step of work because of coporate cheapness and that sucks. But get back to work. You dont something for nothing
@UncontestedTruth "Why would you go on strike and cut off your income if youre making it only on food stamps?" That is precisely why people strike, you just answered your own question. Because they're working and still not making a livable wage. They strike in an attempt to change that situation.
@AmericanNohbuddy How DARE working class Americans feel they deserve anything more than to work their asses off for whatever pittance the rich deign to toss at them! That's what you get for not being born into privilege! We should be grateful for the opportunity to make them richer and richer, and shut up when we die in a hospital waiting room because we don't have insurance!
@AmericanNohbuddy There are laws protecting the worker from shit working conditions so spare me the union party line. No you shouldn't go on strike over benefits. Dud -- lets see. The company is cutting our benefits which hurts me. lets go on strike which hurts me. Company hires other people which hurts me.
Stupid. Unions have outlived their usefulness except to politicians. IF you think they union cares about you then you are dumber than a bag of rocks.
@AmericanNohbuddy Unions have been taken over by Socialists Communists and Radicals. THere only use is to prop up Democrats in office. Anybody that disagrees with a liberal must be a republican or conservative to a liberal. For such "enlightened" (lol) people they are usually the most narrow minded there are
@DeathKorps94 Wow, your opinions are so informed! What are your sources? You must tell me, because it sounds like you pulled all of that directly out of your ass!
@AmericanNohbuddy You don't? Really? Thats funny because I thought the taxpayer was now part owner of the automobile industry amongst others? Or did you forget the bailouts?
You mean the bailouts that saved the auto industry and a million jobs, along with those companies producing a profit and repaying the bailout money to the government? And part owner isn't full owner. Go learn what socialism and communism are.
@DeathKorps94 What if a corporation is so dangerous, so corrupt, wages so poor, and there are no other jobs in the community? Workers have little other power against the large corporations except to strike and now there is legislation to deprive their children of food? Surely even you can see something larger is looming on the horizon. Republican Governors of several states are passing legislation to take over cities in times of economic unrest, what is happening?
@golden454 Yes because having corporate america running everything, and outsourcing our jobs is much better. Pigs like you are fucking traitors. We should shoot all of your right wing pigs for dismantling the american middle class.
Is this guy making an Al-Quada video? Whats up with the background? I get nervous when I see a middle eastern looking man making a video with a plain background.
If this is what it takes to reverse the "baww im entitled to everything" attitude of our generation, I'm all for it. That shit is retarded and will hurt us much more in the long run then this will.
Its not entitlement to everything its entitlement to eat. To be able to fight for better working conditions. And to be able to fight for wages and pensions that the government wishes to cut. Everyone in the public and private sector should be able to protest when they are getting the shaft from their employer.
They want to starve people into submission? They're more likely to starve them into cannibalism. Those signs could quickly be made into stabby things quite rapidly I'd imagine. Then the strikers will get the pay from their bosses in noms.
Oh..my God. It's gotten to a point where these pure evil incarnate, stains to the Earth will try to impede on our freedom, and our hope; until the people say IT'S DONE. And when that happens, the ones in this political raping of our rights will see the wrath of every person in this country. And for every other country under the hand of an oppressive few. My fellow brothers, sisters, my friends; of the human race. We are in the midst of the greatest conspiracy, since time as we know it existed.
It's kind of the democrats fault that all these asshole republicans got elected in the first place! They had a fuckin SUPER MAJORITY, but still couldn't get a ton of shit passed! The shit they did get passed, got watered down like the soda at a white castle resturant! These republicans act like this was the final election of all time, because they're on a all out assualt on the poor and middle class!
@jpav0923 You are a horrible human being and you have zero understanding about how the real world works. I bet you have a rich father and you don't even know the meaning of the word "work".
@MastermindX Man I have debated this same user on multiple videos. He is really cut off from the world and doesnt understand the problems deal with because he doesnt have to deal with them. He is without pity and guilty conscience. On his behalf though when he stops using his opinion and starts using facts he can be very convincing even if he is wrong.
@MastermindX Then you'd bet wrong. I do fine, but it is because I work. My grandparents were immigrants who came to this country with absolutely NOTHING. They taught their kids and grandkids the value of hard work. I work harder than anybody - that's why I am not a drain or a mooch on anyone else.
What makes you think I don't have a rich mother - are you a sexist?
Why ANYONE votes for a repub. blows my mind. Why, WHY would you do it? Oh, because of pro-life and for being against gay rights. Good job people, pick two things that have NOTHING to do with your life. Are you gay? No. Are YOU faced with having an abortion? AND, you bible thumpers go against everything your religion teaches by voting for these clowns......Prevent familes from recieving food stamps, you know, just as Jesus would have it....You people boggle the mind.
@conan1174 You forgot if you're among the top 10% of American earners (and by that I mean if you're a banker or the CEO of a large company) you vote GOP.
That's horrible. Are you sure this is happening in 2011 and not in 1811? Why don't we chain the workers to the machines, so they won't be able to go out of the factory causing all sorts of trouble? Unbelievable...
This is fucked up. However, I think that food stamps should only be allowed to be used for necessities. As it is now, you can buy tobacco products with food stamps. I've witnessed a woman denying her son a loaf of bread because 'mama needs her phillies.' I'm all for helping people who are struggling, but food stamps should be used for food and sanitary items.
@terminaldeity What does it have to do with strikes? If you want to pursue food stamp fraud, pursue it, but you can't go around punishing people who might be legitimately using food stamps to feed their families just for political reasons.
My comment has nothing to do with strikes, I was just commenting on the subject in general. You misrepresent me. I'm 100% for social programs, and I've always maintained that you have to tolerate a few people abusing the system if you want to help everyone who needs it. The instance I mentioned isn't fraud at all, but a legal transaction, and that's a problem. You shouldn't be allowed to buy drug paraphanalia with food stamps.
Dumb asses on the comment thread talking about mooching off other etc. No dumb bitch, they work and its still not enough to support their families. I doubt you have ever struggled in your life. Food stamps are so we don't have people starving in the streets. Your pretty suburb streets ouldn't be so pretty if there were starving poor people strung out all over them. So shut the fuck up.
@jpav0923 China's labour standards are actually one of the highest in developing countries. But the trend continues in the US, your labour standards will be lower than China :) By the sound of you, I'm surprised you live where you live, and not in Burma (you'll like the weather).
But here's an original idea to save, and save A LOT: take away the tax cuts for corporations and high-incomes.
@AvaPozen China uses prison (of political dissidents) and slave labor - it doesn't get much lower than that. China harvets the organs of prisoners to sell on the black maret- you can not compare the US to China.
Or we could save by eliminating the Depts of Educ, Commerce, Labor, Transp, HHS, HUD, Interior, and the EPA..as well as massively cutting SS, Medicare, Medicaid, and eliminating welfare. That way we could have more tax cuts and still balance the budget.
So they want people to work but if they're working and being paid so little they cannot eat they better not even fight for a living wage? To get food stamps you have to be pretty much so poor you definitely can't afford rent in most okay areas. They're taxpayers, they pay for those programs. They're broke. Their kids need food. You wanna crush them, fine be douchebags and play unfair with them. Kids? Hell no.
@ultragamer14 I'd say it's the home of the cowards. There will always be greedy people everywhere, the problem is we are not standing up in front of them to protect our rights.
There must be no government workers, government unions.
The gov't must be stripped of its powers to regulate business, to print money, to set interest rates, to subsidize/bail out anybody, to start wars, etc.etc.
All gov't departments must be abolished, Fed, IRS, FDIC, Fannie/Freddie,FHA, all departments. Military must be cut by 99%. SS, Medicare, Medicaid, all gov't loans for education and all other subsidies must stop.
Why? No public healthcare or public education? Are you serious? Fewer people will be able to afford healthcare and education. An absence of a government would bring to chaos. See Somalia for a good example. No standing government whatsoever aside from Somaliland.
So, if the poor can't afford food, we shouldn't help them, we should let them starve?
What they will risk, is a French Revolution on their doorsteps. If you still remember how to rise up that is... Will you take lessons from Britain, France and Greece already? ;-)
@Cookaloka Without gov't involvement people could afford medical care and education, before 1965, the private health insurance was more popular than blue shield/cross, more people were in private because of lower prices.
The people used to be able to AFFORD education by working, now they get out of 'college' with a sociology major and with a mortgage of 200K USD they have to pay back now.
Gov't must lose all power and go back to what it's supposed to be - minimum military and justice system.
@romanmir01 Problem with that is that if we do that we will go back to the Era with Robber Barons since the gap between the rich and the poor is not repairable without government intervention
@ArchRav There will never be any "government intervention" to do what you want - some sort of a revolution to redistribute wealth from those who have it, to those who do not. This concept no longer applies in today's reality and economy, where money is moved from country to country 7 times a day, following the stock market shifts.
Robber Barons existed for the same reason huge bank bonuses exist today - government intervention.
@romanmir01 hey... ask yourself who will provide help when there is a disaster... or when there are no safety checks for lets say... nuclear reactors.. not to mention food safety. or did you miss out on all that Milk problem in china and the leaded paint. Those are results of no regulation. Just imagine for a company has free game. it can hire kids to do dangerous work andthrow away any safety regulations out the door. Nothing is protecting you how much you will earn and how many ours you work
@robinvan1983 Private charity is the way to deal with disaster.
Gov't should not own any assets, all assets must be private. An owner will take care of his property better than an owner-less gov't body would. If owner screws up his neighbors properties, or larger area with more people, that's what justice system is for.
As to nuclear - without gov't subsidies it wouldn't even be viable at this point, the tech must arrive at being able to provide nuclear economically without subsidies ctd.
@romanmir01 yes because private charity is so effective, they never ask for money because they have enough to fully do their job. Marshall plan was also a total failure.
Have you never seen a sweat shop before? What is stopping any kind of man to create 16 hour shifts, remove any safety feature cause they need to make a quick buck and give you almost no pay. Not to mention monopolizing situations where companies buy out so that they are they only market. nothing stopping that.
@robinvan1983 Marshall plan was a nightmare, complete waste of resources, extremely bad deal for the Americans and it ended up creating a bunch of socialist useless economic systems in various nations, such as Greece - and what do you know, what do they have in Greece today?
What is stopping anybody from 16 shifts, etc.etc.etc. Why should anything stop that? Who is forcing you to work there? It's about contract, it's about your value on the market.
@robinvan1983 Monopolies are all created due to gov't money and intervention. Every monopoly in existence gets preferential treatment by gov't, be it in various regulations, that destroy competition, be it in various special types of tax law, that tax their competitors more, be it in various preferred gov't contracts, where money flows or be it just the Fed's discount window - where money is printed.
Nothing is stopping that today. This is the anti-thesis to the free market.
@robinvan1983 Food safety is in the hands of food manufacturers today and forever, there is no way around that. Gov't doesn't provide any more safety than a specific producer provides. The standards are all industry, not gov't.
If there is market for certification, then a legitimate business would arise, with competition, and you'd be able to buy food that's certified by your preferred firm. That's much better than what's done now - a monopoly, a once a year check, license fees, price hikes ctd
@romanmir01 uhmmm you do know that when there is a certification business.. it can be bribed or bought out by a company and unequally set standards for competitive business. Not to mention that things like warranty standards would be made unequally... just like the health care standards of not insuring preconditioned illnesses. Not to mention healthcare issues where medicine like for the treatment for aids will be soaring in prices just because it gives more profit.
@robinvan1983 With actual competition, and with removal of gov't from the certification, there would be place for more than one certification body IF there was a market for it.
Personally I would not bother buying food that's certified, I would only buy cheaper food, that did not go through the certification process.
It's the same argument I always had with people, when I used to drive my car without insurance for like 10 years. They always asked me: how can you be safe? My only accident happened shortly AFTER I bought insurance, because I became somewhat less careful I suppose.
Car insurance is gov't mandated, so there was always this problem - if I got stopped by a cop, I could get in trouble.
My point is I want the choice of being able to live without insurance and to pay out of pocket.
@romanmir01 funny you stated that car insurance thing... remember those belts you have in the car... government safety regulations. and your whole statement just shows how ignorant you are so i'm done
@robinvan1983 First: all of the safety features where the result of competition, as one manufacturer tried to out-compete the rest with different stuff, the safety was just part of competition.
AFAIC gov't should not be involved in that either. Also I do not wear sitbelt most of the time, again, my choice.
@robinvan1983 Gov't destroys my choices, it forces me to buy products, and I refuse to buy them.
My choice does not correspond to the gov't desire to control my life. The market consists of individuals making individual choices, that creates an environment where maximum efficiencies are found. Gov't destroys efficiencies and it destroys market.
@robinvan1983 I should be able to buy food that didn't pay for any certifications and that food should be cheaper than food that is certified simply by virtue of not having to spend money on the certification process
As to China and Milk, etc. Please, that's the country with centrally planned economics, where gov't is involved into everything, yet they fail your idea of a gov't safety standard. I do not trust gov't, I actually trust private individuals with reputations on line more than gov't
@romanmir01 Hello.... chIna doesn't have a planned economy... that is the one thing that the Changed after it failed. from 1978, there is almost no regulation by the government. private companies are soaring in china
@robinvan1983 It has plenty of planned economy - it has a huge gov't apparatus, but more importantly, it has a planned monetary policy, which is driving the advantage they have from being the largest producer nation into the ground, because it destroys purchasing power of the Chinese people to be able to enjoy fruits of their own productive labor.

a person's relatives (past, present, future) cannot be tried for your crimes--> ITS STATED IN THE CONSTIUTION! so why is this being allowed!!!???

We are slowly becoming a corporate dictatorship where the richest 1% has absolute power over the rest of the 99%. The Republicans working to bring this about are no different than the Bolsheviks of the early 20th century. They may be on opposite sides of the political spectrum but they are equally radical and extreme and always end up with a very small group of people holding absolute power over everyone else. People are too apathetic to realize it or care which makes it very much possible.

I'd prefer that over some poor ass buying candy and soda with food stamps.

and i didn't call you lazy, i said your grandfather probably would have, fool.
C0ct0pusPrime 11 months ago
@C0ct0pusPrime Well I guess since you knew my grandfather so much better than I did you are in a position to speak for him.
I hated lazy people. He was disgusted by people who took govt handouts because he never did. He came to this country with NOTHING, but he didn't look for a handout - he worked.
He taught the work ethic to his kids and grand kids and he had contempt for people who thought they were owed something. Nobody owes you anything - work for it. He taught me that.
jpav0923 11 months ago
@jpav0923 He came to this country with NOTHING (peniless), but he loved this country because he believed that here you could make something of yourself if you were willing to work for it.
He had a 3rd grade education, but he retired quite comfortably and left an inheritence to his children and grandchildren. He had 15 grand children and all 15 have a MINIMUM of a bachelor's degree. Most have far more than that.
HE taught us that you achieved through work and people who didn't sucked.
jpav0923 11 months ago
@jpav0923 let me make this really simple for you.
people who might not have a choice but to take a govt handout to help their kids (or even their businesses) survive don't necessarily have bad work ethic. a person with 3 children can have the best work ethic ever, but still can't survive on minimum wage with no benefits. this isn't about handouts and laziness, its about treating common workers with enough respect so that their work ethic is justified and they don't NEED handouts. get it?
C0ct0pusPrime 11 months ago
@C0ct0pusPrime Then get a second job and give up cable TV, cell phones, and air conditioning. Set your thermostat at 55 in the winter (you won't freeze) and shop at Costco and use coupons.
I guess I have a different definition of hard work than most people. Working 40 hours/wk is not hard work - it is the minimum of what is expected.
jpav0923 11 months ago

MastermindX 11 months ago
This is fucked up. However, I think that food stamps should only be allowed to be used for necessities. As it is now, you can buy tobacco products with food stamps. I've witnessed a woman denying her son a loaf of bread because 'mama needs her phillies.' I'm all for helping people who are struggling, but food stamps should be used for food and sanitary items.
terminaldeity 11 months ago
@terminaldeity What does it have to do with strikes? If you want to pursue food stamp fraud, pursue it, but you can't go around punishing people who might be legitimately using food stamps to feed their families just for political reasons.
MastermindX 11 months ago
@MastermindX
You shouldn't be allowed to buy drug paraphanalia with food stamps.
terminaldeity 11 months ago

@jpav0923 China's labour standards are actually one of the highest in developing countries. But the trend continues in the US, your labour standards will be lower than China :) By the sound of you, I'm surprised you live where you live, and not in Burma (you'll like the weather).
But here's an original idea to save, and save A LOT: take away the tax cuts for corporations and high-incomes.
AvaPozen 11 months ago
@AvaPozen China uses prison (of political dissidents) and slave labor - it doesn't get much lower than that. China harvets the organs of prisoners to sell on the black maret- you can not compare the US to China.
Or we could save by eliminating the Depts of Educ, Commerce, Labor, Transp, HHS, HUD, Interior, and the EPA..as well as massively cutting SS, Medicare, Medicaid, and eliminating welfare. That way we could have more tax cuts and still balance the budget.
I would like Burmese weather

There must be no government workers, government unions.
The gov't must be stripped of its powers to regulate business, to print money, to set interest rates, to subsidize/bail out anybody, to start wars, etc.etc.
All gov't departments must be abolished, Fed, IRS, FDIC, Fannie/Freddie,FHA, all departments. Military must be cut by 99%. SS, Medicare, Medicaid, all gov't loans for education and all other subsidies must stop.
Foodstamps shouldn't even exist.
romanmir01 11 months ago
@romanmir01
Why? No public healthcare or public education? Are you serious? Fewer people will be able to afford healthcare and education. An absence of a government would bring to chaos. See Somalia for a good example. No standing government whatsoever aside from Somaliland.
So, if the poor can't afford food, we shouldn't help them, we should let them starve?

bohemianwriter1 11 months ago
@Cookaloka Without gov't involvement people could afford medical care and education, before 1965, the private health insurance was more popular than blue shield/cross, more people were in private because of lower prices.
The people used to be able to AFFORD education by working, now they get out of 'college' with a sociology major and with a mortgage of 200K USD they have to pay back now.
Gov't must lose all power and go back to what it's supposed to be - minimum military and justice system.
romanmir01 11 months ago

Not to mention monopolizing situations where companies buy out so that they are they only market. nothing stopping that.
robinvan1983 11 months ago

That's much better than what's done now - a monopoly, a once a year check, license fees, price hikes ctd
romanmir01 11 months ago
@romanmir01 uhmmm you do know that when there is a certification business.. it can be bribed or bought out by a company and unequally set standards for competitive business. Not to mention that things like warranty standards would be made unequally... just like the health care standards of not insuring preconditioned illnesses. Not to mention healthcare issues where medicine like for the treatment for aids will be soaring in prices just because it gives more profit.
robinvan1983 11 months ago
@robinvan1983 With actual competition, and with removal of gov't from the certification, there would be place for more than one certification body IF there was a market for it.
Personally I would not bother buying food that's certified, I would only buy cheaper food, that did not go through the certification process.

@romanmir01 ye because you love to eat food that hasnt been checked for pesiticeds... cause who cares for that aslong as the farmer makes a profit

@robinvan1983
My point is I want the choice of being able to live without insurance and to pay out of pocket.
romanmir01 11 months ago
@romanmir01 funny you stated that car insurance thing... remember those belts you have in the car... government safety regulations. and your whole statement just shows how ignorant you are so i'm done
robinvan1983 11 months ago
@robinvan1983 First: all of the safety features where the result of competition, as one manufacturer tried to out-compete the rest with different stuff, the safety was just part of competition.
AFAIC gov't should not be involved in that either. Also I do not wear sitbelt most of the time, again, my choice.
romanmir01 11 months ago
@robinvan1983 Gov't destroys my choices, it forces me to buy products, and I refuse to buy them.
My choice does not correspond to the gov't desire to control my life. The market consists of individuals making individual choices, that creates an environment where maximum efficiencies are found. Gov't destroys efficiencies and it destroys market.
romanmir01 11 months ago
@robinvan1983 I should be able to buy food that didn't pay for any certifications and that food should be cheaper than food that is certified simply by virtue of not having to spend money on the certification process
As to China and Milk, etc. Please, that's the country with centrally planned economics, where gov't is involved into everything, yet they fail your idea of a gov't safety standard. I do not trust gov't, I actually trust private individuals with reputations on line more than gov't
romanmir01 11 months ago
@romanmir01 Hello.... chIna doesn't have a planned economy... that is the one thing that the Changed after it failed. from 1978, there is almost no regulation by the government. private companies are soaring in china
robinvan1983 11 months ago
@robinvan1983 It has plenty of planned economy - it has a huge gov't apparatus, but more importantly, it has a planned monetary policy, which is driving the advantage they have from being the largest producer nation into the ground, because it destroys purchasing power of the Chinese people to be able to enjoy fruits of their own productive labor.
