@SIGN666 flash powder dosen't need to have containment at all to be loud. It WILL self-contain just being in a pile by itself. The ammount needed will varry depending on what mesh your materials are. so be careful!
if you really want to use some powerful stuff.. then try to detonate some secondary explosive (ANFO, ANNM, RDX) with flashpowder.. or make some primary to do the job (:
If you click the link in the "more info" section of this video you can take a look at what it looked like. I know for sure it was an 8 1/2" long cardboard tube with 1/4" thick walls and I believe it was 2" wide inner diameter.
I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. No matter what video I upload, there always seems to be people on this site that talk out their ass about shit they have no idea or experience in.
yo fuck m-80s and above. im not jokin(if so check out youtube) sparkler bomb no joke they are more powerful if made correctly.(checkout ;johnson sparkler bomb; does more damage no joke) I MADE IT!! 1ST VID
It was a half pound of flash and 1 1/2" thick cardboard tubing would be a overkill. Although flash powder is not a high explosive, it still burns quick enough to not need a strong tube. Flash also doesn't take a lot of powder to explode by it's weight alone without a tube. You may be thinking of another kind of gun powder or black powder?
And if you still think flash powder needs a thick tube to explode, don't you think the salute in the video wouldn't have exploded loud enough that we heard car alarms in the distance? lol
Commercial 3" salutes typically used at least half an inch of casing. This is half a pound of flash.
The reason flash is a shattering explosive is because the air is heated so fast that it expands like explosive gas, hence a louder shatter comes from a heaver and harder container.
Well all's we had was a 1/4" casing and it worked out great man.
And yes I do realize how explosives work your not teaching me anything. Having a good, strong casing is good but if its too strong, your explosive will not work like you wanted. Strong casings are more effective on explosives that do not react as fast as flash powder and high explosives. When into things such as APAN, even toilet paper tube will be very effective.
what these people mean is, the thicker the tube, the louder the report and the explosives will work just as well if not better. Thats certainly true with flash powder anyway.
The statement "the thicker the tube, the louder the report" depends on a lot of factors, such as the type of powder, amount, and how thick the tube can actually be. This works well with powders that do not create gas expansion quite as fast and violent as others (black powder, smokeless powder, sparkler powder...)
Use a large enough tube on something like flash powder, it will either muffle the explosion, or just spew flames right out the fuse hole. I've had both happen.
Nice video! Also try wrapping the salute in several layers of duct tape. It adds more compression to the explosion. More compression= bigger and louder
my first bomb i ever made was made of the black powder out of the bottom of artillery shells (those tube fireworks that shoot up in air and explode in a ring) and put it in a gatorade bottle then wrapped 2 rolls of duct tape around it and 1 roll of electrical and my god im not going to joke it was massive prolly bigger then a stick of dynamite but of course we did use 25 shells

did you just use a papertowel tube? how thick was the wall?
iv81 4 years ago
No we didn't. The wall was about 1/4" thick.
yukhui 4 years ago
Not thick enough for pound of flash. Try about six or seven times that.

We don't make "bombs" in the art of pyrotechnics. Get the fuck out.

What a waste of mortars. Just buy a can of black powder from a hunting shop.
