  • this is a bit amazing

  • Its about walking in the rain on drugs. I think

  • Mick Taylor is on top of the world! Just watch from 2:30 to 2:40 solo. He is flawless, and watch how Jag gets so inspired in his singing immediately after that solo. That is why they were the world's greatest rock and roll band back then. Wow!!

  • did they fuck that right up, by about 12 bars worth, at around 3.00 in?

  • wings your absolutely correct saw the stones for the first time in 69 ya yas tour, blown away by mt , the only one who could who could stay with him on slide was duanne allman .

  • God Damn, Mick Taylor was not only the best technical lead guitarist of the Stones, but there were few who could rival his mastery of the slide guitar with Rock and R&B-- Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher- a terribly short list. They have accomplished far less as a band since he left.

  • @MrSitermaryelephant

They didnt "let him go" Mick left

and if its not gonna be Mick up there with them Ronnie's not too bad of a backup id say

  • Page is the greatest...but Taylor is good and Richards a great musician

  • @janiakowska No he's not lol he up there but he is not the greatest..

  • i have an urge to liston to sticky fingers let it bleed and exile back to back also beggars banquet

  • @elieattie The four greatest albums...right in a row. Bang, banb, bang. The were on a roll!

  • W-E-L-L- O-I-L-E-D- M-A-C-H-I-N-E.

  • All of the Best Rolling Stones songs were written and performed when Mick Taylor was a member.

  • @moobearus

Most not all, check I can't get no satisfaction, Get outta my cloud, etc.

  • @moobearus You're absolutely right.I don't know how anyone could argue with that.Let It Bleed,Sticky Fingers,Exile. The best of the Stones.Taylor's slide combined with Keith's notes on the intro to Gimme Shelter are classic. That song captured what everyone was feeling at the time.Made the NYTimes pay attention.

Saw Taylor recently in an acoustic concert.Still amazing. There were songwriting issues, but he said he left because he thought he would die if he didn't.Gram Parsons would.

  • I applaude you mkdtw. This is far better quality than the vinyl bootlegs I collected during the 80's. It's got stuff to watch as well. :) Mick Taylor was the most technically proficient guitarist the Stones have had. Apologies to progenitor Brian Jones. Why hasn't he been mentioned? Woody is a better fit for them though. I saw MT in 1990 or so on his Stranger In This Town tour, and again recently doing Experience Hendrix. Awesome Sauce! Thanks for the upload.

  • @KC0462

There is no better band than Led Zeppelin, there is no better lead guitar player than Jimmy Page (Hendrix is equal though), and the creativity in their writing and producing has been matched by few. The Beatles and Stones are definitely bands I would put up there with Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin wrote some of the greatest songs ever written.

  • @heartburnjay You omitted the "In my opinion..." bit at the start of your paragraph.

  • @heartburnjay the problem is that they DID NOT WRITE THEM!!!!!!!!!!, check out the led zep plagiarism video on youtube and see if you still think they WROTE THEM

  • @heartburnjay Rolling stones during mick Taylor era were 10000 times better than zeppelin lol . It's a fact . Look at mick jagger on stage ... Plant is a lap dog compared to him and the combo Richards / Taylor is 10000 times better than page made alone ..

  • @fondofrory Wrong you are, boy. This was a gem version in the studio. The problem with the stones Live, is the versions are too fast, and mick is just goin thru the motions. The other mick, MT, is putting on a clinic. He is one of the sweetest guitarists in history. Zep was better live, singing wise, cuz Plant took it seriously. Listen to Mick-- he sucks! and, I am a HUGE stones fan

  • @scotchiedude Mick sucks ? man come on lol ! He is the best showman in history .. His fucking mooves , sings with emotion etc . Anyway on gimme shelter is great because the riff is magic and the solo of Taylor own ! You can add the horns part ... Jagger voices is not really imprtant here i think . But listen something like Love in vain or You can't always get what you want during this tour .. I don't think that mick is sucking lol

  • @mandraxish fondofrory, I just don't like how he sings when the tune is too fast. I like the pacing of the studio version. I LOVE the Stones live, but I can't stand Jaggar. Here I am trying ot focus on brilliance (MT for the first time on video) and Jaggar is dancing around like fuckin Madonna. No wonder he weighs about 17 lbs. For my money, I wish they would take everything Keef plays and just focus on him in hi def (or MT). Most guitarists are bored watching jags anyway I bet.

  • Sure Ronnie Wood has a lot more stage presence, a lot more fun to watch; and, yes, he's a great player (and his pedal steel playing is something neither M.T. nor Brian could do) BUT Mick Taylor just possessed a lyrical flow that Ron Wood can't began to touch. Morevoer the band was tight & ferocious in those days, out for blood. Jagger & Richards were still strong partners in crime! At the end of the day, the Stones, while still a great band, have long past their greatest era, '68-'72.

  • @donedave oops, "long passed" lol

  • FABULOUS

  • 1972 was a good year...

  • The whole band was off on the intro.

  • Funny thing, Michael missed his first line by a beat. Watch him look @ Taylor when mt went into his 1st progression rip. Classic!!!

  • god I wish mick taylor was still with them, they say he might be brought back to play on the songs he played on along with bill wyman if they go on tour next year. there is talk that they might play big cities like L.A., chi., nyc., for several nights, having the fans come to them.

  • @prince69602 omg taylor and wyman i will seriously kill for a ticket to that

  • STONES WAY BETTER THAN ZEP, AND BTW THE STONES WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS

  • @KC0462 dude, different genres.

  • @KC0462 ??? Think you'd do well to look at the credits on the early Stones albums!

  • @scrabble58 um er the stones gave credits to the cover versions they used and ZEP did not, big difference

  • Here it is boys, The Greatest Rock-n-Roll Band In The World in their prime! No question @ their best when Mr.Taylor was ripping the leads.Jagger @ his very best also. Jagger just commands respect w his vocals! @ the time was known by every concert promoter as '' The most talented c##t '' in the business. And that is a quote......

  • Hardest rocking Stones song!

  • SE MICK TAYLOR FOSSE TAO ESPLENDOROSO....NAO ESTARIA NA SITUAÇAO DE HOJE...ELE APENAS SOLAVA...MUSICA NUNCA FEZ. KEITH E ETERNAMENTE SUPERIOR...NAO E VIRTUOSO,..POREM QUANDO "SOLA" FAZ COM CONTEUDO....SRESUMINDO....E MAIS COMPLETO...SE VOCE POR APENAS NO CANAL STEREO DO KEITH....BASTA....DOS OUTROS FALTA ALGO....NAO E VERDADE? EXPERIMENTA.

  • Mick F***ing Taylor.

  • takes some real stones to be a Rolling Stone

  • my fav version of the song

  • the stones in there gritty dirty greatness. this why i love rock n roll.

  • This is for my freind Ken. Saw him today. He is losing his house. No work. The stones raw and nasty...life deals some tough cards...hope he finds a way to make it...

  • World's greatest band!!!!

  • good one. love those years stones rock

  • mick taylor guitar makes the diference !

  • I just wonder how different they would have sounded after this year and the next if Mick Taylor would have stayed because this is some serious driving music....

  • NO disrespect to M. Taylor, but wish KR played that solo

  • yes we love mick

  • Mick Taylor ! One of the best and most underrated guitarists worldwide

  • @MrUprising2010 Fully agree with you...best Rolling Stones times with Mick Taylor! They were inducted to RR HOF with MT....no other way!

    Regards

  • Respond to this video... When we speak of M Taylor, come to our mind, gimmeshelter, Angie, It's only RR, brown sugar! No doubt best stones' times ever!

  • @MrUprising2010 he's not underrated at all .......millions of people love him and the critics highly praised him. Mick Jagger sad Mick Taylor made his singing much better by nicely playing guitar around his songs

  • that's The Rolling Stones magic! ! !

  • The Stones biggest mistake was letting Taylor go.

  • @MrSistermaryelephant I agree but it is very hard to keep someone who does not want to be with the band.

  • @glimtwinss

Well although they seem fine to me as characters Jagger and Richards should have treated him better . Taylor was like a machine gun !! If he was given more opportunities Stones could even reach Led Zeppelin

I dont underestimate the others . The whole band was f***** great !! But Taylor was a gift for them

  • @MrUprising2010 reach led zeppelin? the stones are way greater than led zeppelin mate :P

  • @Baardnick Well that's an opinion . But I don't believe Stones had the technique and the ability to write epic songs like Led my friend . Just check Stairway to heaven , No quarter , kashmir and achilles last stand

  • @MrUprising2010 hehe. heard all of them mate :)listen to Wild Horses, Angie, Memory motel, You Got the Blues. (btw nothing against zeppelin. its one of the greatest bands ever!) But the sound of stones is more durty. while stairway to heaven sounds more heroic.

  • @MrUprising2010 Stones are way better than Zeppelin in my opinion, Stones are the greatest rock band of all time.

  • @tokiluv1 you compare to diferent things man...

  • @Baardnick No comparison as the Stones are far superior in every way. LZ was awful live.

  • @jbstonesfan

you clearly have not seen the Live At Royal Albert Hall 1970 DVD

  • @ConfederateGold

No, I have not.. is it possible to buy that one, do you know ?

  • @Nielsanderspoulsen

    yes sir,

    amazon.com/Led-Zeppelin-Robert-Plant/dp/B00008PX8P/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322433651&sr=8-1

  • @ConfederateGold Thank you.. Led Zep.. thought you ment Stones, but thanks anyway

  • @MrSistermaryelephant Taylor quit. There were several reasons he left, one of the biggest was he was'nt getting the credits for his writing. In my opinion, anyway you slice and dice it,there were three paties that lost,Mick Taylor,The Rolling Stones, and every Stones fan! I love Woody, but he's no Mick Taylor.....

  • @glimmertwinsproduct "...he was'nt getting the credits for his writing..." - not uncommon - just ask Woody!

  • @MrSistermaryelephant they didn't let him go, he quit. biggest mistake of his life probably.

  • @donedave Financially, possibly......but have a feeling that if he'd stayed, he'd be long gone by now!

  • @MrSistermaryelephant If you knew anything about the Stones, you'd know that Taylor quit. Poseur.

  • @MrSistermaryelephant Mick quit for 3 reasons he was a teenage vegetarian he didnt want to become a dope addict like keith richards,he wasnt getting label credit for songs he wrote with them and he was tired of playing honkey tonk women every night he wanted to play other styles of music so he started a jazz rock fusion group with jack bruce

  • yeah children...they are still alive today.
