  • thnks man..just one question..my toshiba has 1/8 headphones and one other 1/8 ..i assume that this is the input that will be used in Acid 8.0.I plan to go from our mixers quarter inch out(sub group) to the computer...thanks

  • Great video, thanks for your help :)

  • can i use an IO like Line 6 UX2?

  • You are about the only person I see reppn hip hop in Sony Acid so I appreciate your videos. Another question for you, I would like to add accpellas on into sony acid. Do I need to use something external or have you heard of any turntable vst that I could add? thanks in advance. 1

  • @TheReggiereg1 just drag the acapellas files into acid like you would with any other sound file. you don't need a vst to do that.

  • @jacksonwonderful - I really appreciate your quick response. Thanks again!

  • i just ordered a lexicon omega usb i have 3 emu racks& a triton rack my shit will slap & slump soon

  • Can you hook a midi keyboard directly to your laptop like with a midi to usb cable? My keyboard only takes one quater inch and i have the wire with the 8inch adapter but when i hook it up nothing happens. im using acid pro 7.

  • see, heres my problem. I have the cube 30, a bigger version of the micro cube, and I do everything as you say. However, no matter what the volume is, it starts so loud you have to turn off the sound, then slowly gets so quiet that you cant hear it. How do I fix this?

  • I need help. I'm all hooked up and record through my POS sound card just fine. HOWEVER, if I play along with the other tracks (midi/vst) they all get recorded onto the new track I'm recording. I just want to record the instrument, not everything that is playing back. How do I configure it to record only what's coming into my soundcard, not everything being played out through my sound card? I really need help. What good is it to have a multi-tracker if you have to record everything live?

  • Very informative, thanks for the help.

  • Ever used Sonar 8 before or a Samson Mic?

  • thanks bro

  • I HAVE AN M AUDIO MOBILE PRE SOUND CARD

AND FOR SOME REASON WHEN I TRY AND RECORD ON SONY ACID 5 IT DOESENT WORK!!!

    CAN SUMONE HELP ME PLEASE

    PLEASE!!!

i been hearing windows vista dont work on the soundcard

i been HEARING when u have the audio options under stero it doesent work either

    CAN SUMONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!

  • Do you need... help?

  • lol

  • @jacksonwonderful lol hate the capslock thing

  • Thanks! This is exactly what I needed to know.

  • how cam i use the amplitube2 fx in acidpro7?

  • hey i have a guitar cord that instead of the 1/8 to go in it has a USB cord any ideas THANKS :P

  • yay =] that's good new for me 'cause i already have most of those cables from some of my stuff like guitars and stereos/record players etc... but i think i might have to start building up a studio i that can actually be referred to as a studio xD everything i have so far is just bottom of the range just to get me started, and all crammed in my bedroom. so it's just a big mess :P but hopefully in a year I'll have a fully working studio, and some tracks up :D well that's my plan anyway =]

  • how can i record keyboard sounds onto my lap top (acid) using a midi plug in cord. when i go to the recording menu the vocals bubble is checked in, but it wnt let me check the midi bubble???? wat should i do?

  • I think I'm having the same problem as you... I have an M-Audio keyboard that connects to the computer (mine is a PC) with a USB cord. But while following the instructions, it never lets me gets past one part of it.... Sucks...!

  • number1k9

you have totally not understood the difference between a HARDWARE keyboard and a MIDI controller,

    YOU HAVE A MIDI CONTROLLER!

FOR THE PURPOSE OF SENDING MIDI NOTES TO YOUR DAW (DIGITAL AUDIO WORK STATION) in simple terms acid, cubase, sonar, reaper, logic, pro tools and so on (goin on your verging on retarded lack of knowledge im guess ur an fl studio guy)

YOUR MIDI DEVICE HAS NO BUILT IN SOUNDS! YOU NEED VSTIS OR A SOUND MODULE!

therefore this video does not apply to you.

  • @ceetheproducer OK, you are a dick. I did not ask you anything. So if you wanted to be helpful thats one thing but don't come at me online, responding to my comment(s) like you're the smartest asshole in the world. And no, I am not a Fruity Loops studio guy.

  • can u do this for the mac? coz it has a program called garageband and i wanna make my own music originally..

  • dude ya'r osum...but I got a prbl in acid coz m new I dn't knw d beatmaping in acid can ya plz teach me dat plzzzzzzzzz......

  • Hey guys, could someone tell me how to change the bass, mids and the treble or the tempo in in a single (individual) song/track in the timeline in sony acid pro 7? I'm kinda new to sony acid so I could really use some help.

  • hey. to change the bass and stuff. on that track click the green puzzle piece button on the left of the track near the volume. a little mixer will pop up that will allow you to change those things.

  • You forgot to mention that the settings I needed are in the ACID FX plug-in. It's kinda tricky because it's not the default plug-in when you open the Track FX. But no worries, I got that from another response. Anyway, thanks for the help man.

  • your a real humble dude!

always helping the ones under ya..

    propz homie propz!!!

  • Thanks you really were a great help, Thanks again

  • hey thanks for answering my question last week but i got another one...how much of a difference will i get in my recordings if i upgrade to a 24-bit sound card instead of using my stock sound card on my laptop

  • It all depends on how good/bad your stock soundcard is... and how good your ear is at picking up on subtle quality variations between recordings. There is a significant difference, however, if you don't have a huge need for the upgrade, then don't rush it until you've played around with sound for a while longer (unless you're dying to spend the money).

  • Can i use my toneport ux2 and record 2 guitars at same time? Its there a way to record 2 guitar with the toneport? :)

well i dont know what do too..

  • With versions 6 and beyond, yes, you can record from two different sources into two separate tracks. If you have those versions, check out the manual as the process may depend on the type of interface you have.

  • I,m looking to buy a digital keyboards that has the sound and the touch and feel of a great piano.

The Roland FP4 sounds great or should I look elsewhere??

Does anybody have any good advice?

    Thanks!

  • if you paid for acid. which you can get for free... you should pay for that 99 dolla HD cam from best buy .(aye im just puttin you up on game)

but good lookin out for the economy. ppl should fuckin buy what they really use and make money off of. but i aint made no money in the music biz yet. but that didnt stop the 100 inch HD projector from makin its way into tha crib . Ya Dig .

  • I got a copy of ACID for free directly from Sony. And no 99 dollar camera is going to be any better than a regular sd/mini dv camera around the same price.

  • i have a M-Audio usb audio interface and a new audio-technica condencer mic which is not usb. so i plug the mic into the interface and the interface into the computer. Acid and the computer recognize the M-Audio interface but not the mic itself.PLEASE HELP I CANT EVEN USE MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!!

  • AAAHHHH!!! :P

If your computer and ACID recognize the interface, the mic problem has nothing to do with ACID. Though I usually avoid answering non-ACID related questions because I'm not an expert on soundcards, there are a few things that could be wrong:

Firstly, your interface may not have phantom (48v) power turned on. If that's the case, turn it on and you're good. If that's not the case, make sure that on your interface's volume (on the computer), the input for your mic is up.

    P

  • Hey, I have been using Acid for awhile now and once in a while when I do render as to convert to a wave or mp3 file, I listen to it and it has clicking noises in it. Can anyone help me???

  • This sometimes happens if you have a slower processor and are using a lot of effects/plug-ins. Is that the case?

  • yea probably

  • hey frodo, i had the same problem, the thing that sometimes happens to acid is that it gets like too stock with so many plugins, so what i did is to put the plug-ins into the busses and try not to use the plugins into the channels, and erase all the plugins that you are not using.

  • I've got an old evolution mk-149 midi controller keyboard any idea how to link this up to acid

  • buy a midi-usb interface, look for them on ebay or at m-audio.

  • You can fry your sound card with that huge signal. That's why its meant to handle an 1/8" plug's impedance. If you get an impedance matching transformer from 1/4" to 1/8" you're good.

A much better solution is to get a PCI sound card with a suitable 1/4" or XLR input. The latency with be less. Another option is a Firwire or USB audio interface. Use an ASIO driver for best results.

  • I've never seen that happen, but it's possible. Stock sound cards aren't the way to go either way. Mine is 24 bit asio, but trust me-- I'll be upgrading to a firewire interface as soon as I can.

  • hey bro, wondering if you know...

I have music playing on my PC... I want to record what is being played in SONY ACID as it plays (its from my turntables, serato programme on PC)... but when i hit record, it does not record anything.. not even if i add a mic to the line in (to record mic) any help is good thanks,

    t

  • yo man i had a quick question where can you find the wire for ur keyboard cuz i looked at futureshop and i culdny find it thweir can you tell me wut stores i can find it?

  • so i can record my triton use the sounds on it to record to acid like protools or cubase!

  • yes!

  • You HAVE to have an MAudio interface for Protools though.

  • How do i record in Acid with my mic, which is inserted in my interface? i dont know how to do that. everything is working, i can hear my mic. But when i press record then play it, i dont hear any playback.

  • That's an interface/hardware question. It could be anything, actually-- software, drivers, you not pushing the right button-- who knows. If worst comes to worst, contact the interface's manufacturer.

  • is acid good for JUST vsti?

  • jacksonwonderful, what is the cheapest way to connect a microphone directly to a sound card? Can it be done? I haven't had any luck.

  • Peterdvideos:

There is no cheap way to connect a decent mic to a soundcard unless, the soundcard is will accept XLR or 1/4" inputs. There are however plenty of interfaces which are capable and under $100. A usb inteface will yield better results than trying to fudge a connection with some sort of xlr to 1/8" adapter assuming one exists.

  • im thinking of getting an electronic keyboard like the 1 u showed, can i plug in a usb electronic keyboard and use that as the insurface input, or does sony acid not support usb keyboards?

  • USB supports all known MIDI devices, to my knowledge.

  • do u recommeng the qtr inch plugs be "gold" at the end plugs?

u know ur shit pain keep it up..............peace

  • May as well get gold-- they transfer clearer sound.

  • Perfect! Thank you! I'm just thinking about micing up my amp into my computer and knowing the details helps so I don't walk into the store not knowing what I need!

  • I got some useful terms and info.

I'll be looking for advice on what sound card to buy next.

    Thanks!

  • when i recording my guitar..I cant hear anything from my right speaker..only left speaker...can u solve the probleM??

  • Whereas a keyboard provides stereo output, a guitar does not. Change your audio input to mono instead of stereo (Guitars and most mics will always record in the left channel). When you switch to mono, you'll be able to hear the track is both speakers.

  • thank you for the information..but how to change the audio input to mono??

  • with version 5, you can change those settings at the bottom of the record window (the thing that pops up when you hit the record button). In version 6, you must first insert a new audio track, then arm that track for recording, then click on the little double speaker icon on the new track (immediately left of the arm for record button) and choose "Left."

  • im havin the same problem with the mic...did ya figure it out?

  • No..im still working on it...heheh

  • Hey great video, I just have a quick question..

If I buy an adapter to connect my guitar directly to my PC and use Sony Acid, will I need some kind of preamp to get proper sound?

Also what features does Acid have in terms of guitar effects, or is it mostly for recording?

  • You'll need a preamp, sure, but that could mean a cheap effects pedal or something like the microcube from Roland.

Acid PRO has a few guitar effects-- wah wah, compression, etc-- but it supports all VST and DX plug-ins, and there are TONS of guitar plug-ins available.

  • (continued) it sounds a little better during playback but it is still very low and if I try to raise the volume on the recorded track, it peaks. So now I have to compensate and lower my kicks on the asr and start over, and the beat just isnt hitting hard like it was in my headphones through my dj mixer. Is there a way to give me more room to pump up the vol and not peak? And not have my kick drums distort?

  • I have a couple of questions. First is there a difference between using the mic line in and input? I'm I also am having trouble with sound levels. I'm not creating beats on acid. I'm roughly trying to eq everything on the asr and record to one track into acid. (when I have time I will learn acid a little better and track everything separately but anyway)My prob is I have to record real low, because acid says I'm peaking. I can barely hear it while I'm recording. Its sounds a little better...

  • Q: what menu do you go to to adjust your settings for latency? thanks! great vids man.

  • jacksonwonderful, I have a motif 7. Could you explain how to send midi from that to Acid? Not just the cable connection, but what to click on in the software to get it to start recording. I havent been able to figure it out. Thanks.

  • I should tell you that I have a USB cable connected, for the midi.

  • Also I have the regular version of Acid, not Pro. And it's a trial version.

  • I've connected my Yamaha Clavinova CVP-105 to my laptop using my "1-IN/1-OUT Complete Cable Style USB MIDI Interface" but when I play it through Sony Acid it sounds like a poor MIDI file - I lose the real piano sound that is created when I normally play my Yamaha.

If I connect the Yamaha to Sony Acid on my laptop using the cables you suggest in this video then will it sound as good through Sony Acid as it does when I listen to my piano whilst playing it normally?

Thanks for all your help :D

  • In short, yes (if you have a poor quality sound card, this will affect your recording quality). What you have to understand is that MIDI just triggers sounds. In other words, actual sound is not being transfered through MIDI; a type of data are being transfered. When you connect analog sound cables from the keyboard to the computer, you'll be recording your keyboards audio output.

    Best of luck,

    P

  • I better get onto ebay then.

Thanks again for offering friendly advice.

I hope to see you on MTV Cribs one day

  • very very helpful video. thanx.

uhh...can you please give me any idea for any trick as to howz my soundcard performing?

I mean is it performing at 10bit or what. Furthermore, what should be the ideal performance rate so there should not be any latency problem. Please help.

  • Each soundcard is unique in its latency, bitrate, drivers, etc... Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer. Otherwise, if everything sounds good and seems to be performing well, you should be fine.

    P

  • Nice video, very helpful. But where can I find the first cable you showed, that motif cable. I searched online can't find it anywhere. Do you know the name of it? Much appreciated.

  • These are all really helpful videos. Thanks

  • just got acid 7, loaded it in and could not bring up the loops and midi tracks, but finally found the i had to download the loops and then read them with acid 7, this was not good since acid 5 loops were downloadable, well anyway any info will help, i have taken off acid 7 from the computer and will reload hopefully will be better prepared next time. help. thanks

  • Loops for Acid 7 (which isn't actually Acid 7, but rather music studio 7) should work for any other version of acid, even the much older and much newer pro versions.

  • thanks, I did download loops as suggested, but from 5. yes they worked but i could not ope them with music 7. also the loops would not open in the exploer screen. well thanks I will reinstall music 7 again. I also have the reducers for rca and quater plugs, which i go right into the pa from the computer, i really like it. thanks hear soon.

  • note : i got a roland e50 not a g50 . my typo is bad

  • hey ! i got a roland g50 and some midi to usb cable . I really want to plug it in and use with my sony acid 6.0 but nothing come out . Please help !

  • Try reading the sony acid help file-- search for "MIDI." They explain it well, and there's a lot of detail involved.

    Best of luck.

  • just question i'm about to buy the axiom 25 is it possible with Acid pro 5 to load a loop and chopp it some, I know about the chopper in acid butI need more physical control or can I get control with my keypad also

  • I'm sure you can. You may not be able to use Acid's chopper though-- you may end up having to get a VST sampler. With one of those, you can definitely trigger samples with presumably any MIDI device.

  • thanks

  • I have vti plugins, is there a way to play keyboard-style using your dektop keypad or do you need a midi keyboard?

  • I've seen it done with the keypad. The question is, are you sure that's what you want? If you're trained as a pianist/keyboardist, you want to just buy a MIDI controller. They are really not that expensive these days. 40-100 dollars for one that will do the trick. If you're just looking to mess around, try google'ing "play midi with keypad" or something that may yield helpful results.

  • Im a drummer and just begginning to look at creating loops so I can provide a live drum groove. I have a PA system and drum mics. Is it possible to do live drums into the computer from the pa? or other suggestions. Also, creating loops for grooves. thanks

  • Yep, you could run straight from the PA's output into the computer's input. It's probably not going to sound great though, but it's possible. Mic'ing drums is an art I haven't even begun to explore and to really mix down drums well, you'll want to assign each drum mic to a separate channel and record each channel into your sequencer separately as well.

  • thanks 4 da help man

  • I have a LK 210 and it has a Phone/output hole

I also have a Cable for plugging a guitar into an amp but I also have an Attachment that can go on one end and make it a 1/8 cable. So I stick the big 1/4 inch side into the Phone/Output Hole on my LK 210 and then the other side with the extra attached 1/8 end into the microphone hole of my computer but no matter what I play noting comes up, I can't get anything to Record

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • Check your sound settings-- double click on the speaker icon in your system tray. Click the options menu, the properties. Adjust volume for recording. Enable mic in, then turn the volume up. This should work. If it doesn't, give me more specific information regarding your setup.

  • I have a roland vs 1824 recorder. How do I transfer my music into PC. I tried from my Roland master monitor out (RCA) into pc mic but

getting a lot of hiss and hums. Could it be my

stock sound card causing this hiss.

  • It sure could be. Try using your analog/line in instead. There should be less noise. If this becomes a major concern, try grabbing an inexpensive USB audio inferface. You can browse a few at online shops such as zzounds dot com.

  • hello...i just bought a yamaha psre403 and i want to connect it to my mac...i've connected the cable from the keyboard to the mac but when i play on the keyboard its not coming or playin or recording on the mac....please help.........thnk u

  • Are you positive that you have connected the output of your keyboard to the input of your computer?

Also, and I'm not a mac user so I can't be too specific, you may have to configure your computer's soundcard to enable mic in / analog in recording. I don't know how to do this though.

  • Hey great vid dude, but I got one question.

I'm using a yamaha psr keyboard, and i have acid pro 6.... but i have the USB cable from M-audio.

How can i set it up so i can play into acid? I mean, stream my keyboard music right into Acid. Is this possible?

    Thanks for the videoes-

  • You are trying to record your PSR's sounds into acid or you're trying to program midi into acid with your M-Audio controller?

  • Well maybe both, I'm not sure what the second one is.

All I want to is record music from my keyboard on my computer. Then I want to edit it (mix it, etc.), which is why I have Acid.

Basically I need to get my keyboard track into Acid. I assumed I needed the usb adapter, so I borrowed it from a friend.

    Thanks a bunch for replying

  • I'm not exactly sure what the usb adapter is-- a usb adapter could mean a number of devices. Please tell me the exact model and purpose (is it a soundcard? A midi-to-usb interface? A piece of licorice?). I don't think the adapter is necessary, but I'm unclear as to why you think you need it and what it is.

    P

  • It's a midi to usb interface.

But according to this video... I don't need to bother with MIDI to record my keyboard, is that correct?

  • That is absolutely correct.

  • dude, I got a Korg Triton Classic workstation keyboard and I'm trying to import/record the sounds from it into a .wav file in the computer.. i have the a soundblaster audigy with the external box but I'm using a midi to usb cable from Maudio. But I still can't record the sounds to .wave any ideas?

  • Midi does not record Wav files. Midi is an interface, not a sound. You'll have to either recording with analog lines, like I explain in this video, or somehow interface your triton with your software sequencer (check the manual for that).

  • Thank you! I finally figured out my Yamaha Psr!

  • if i get a mixing board will i be able to plug in all of the above without having to deal with different wiring?

  • Yep-- just make sure the mixing board isn't affecting the quality of your inputs. I know a few people who use Mackie Mixing boards. I have a Folio, but I don't use it too much anymore. My small Behringer mixer is used for my monitors.

  • i just want to plug my behringer mic, i thought i was gonna have to but a board automaticly.

would it be better to just get the adapter and plug it direct to my stock sound card?

  • Well, you'll need some type of 48v power source. Most boards provide that. You could also grab a mic-pre with 48v power as well. Either way, the board may help you in the future if you start buying more and more equipment.

  • No problem! Thanks for watching!

  • yeah, i was checking out my mic on the web cuz i bought it from the pawn shop.

i found out im gonna need phantom power.will that affect my inputs?

sorry if im asking to many questions, your my only resource.thanks

  • No, phantom power for a mic is akin to plugging a keyboard into a power outlet-- it won't affect the sound, but without it, you cannot use the mic.

Like I said, either purchase a mic-pre, a di-box with 48 v, or a board with 48 v phantom power. The plugs will not change. Watch the portion of the video in which I explain the plugs for a mic pre-amp.

  • everything i needed to know.

  • Really useful thanks.
