@capcom65 does it really matter. They are pronounced the same. And besides they aren't pronouced exactly like an"l" or an "r", they are just the closest romanize letters to the sound that they use, so they are used for the romanji.
SpiffyxChan: actually, there is no l -or- r sound. The sound used for both of these letters instead is somewhat like a light d... or perhaps an easier way to think of it is the Spanish pronunciation of r. ^_^
