It has often been said that it was crime that killed Irondequoit mall. Crime as in what happened in the parking lots. It's not far from the high-crime area of northern Rochester. This mall was dying long before the "recession" (depression) hit America.
@rochestertroll Haha. You would get your ass fucked if you had the balls to say it in public. I bet when you walk by the Liberty Pole you keep a smile on your face and look forward the whole time. Certainly don't want any trouble.
Dude, they should turn this building/mall into an apartment complex. that would be neat. Why keep building new building when plenty of others to go around, plus no glass to have to mow. Go figure. Heck, maybe add a pool in the center of building. I don't know, just something.
I really miss this mall, it used to be a beautiful bustling two story mall. I remember this was the BEST mall to go to during Christmas. Should have been Greece mall not Irondoquoit.
@italia10588 Def. agree with you. This mall opened in March 1990 when I was about 1 year old. I have so many fond memories of going there as a kid--eating in the food court, riding the Carousel, going on the elevator, throwing pennies in the fountain, getting Auntie Annes pretzels (at least they're at other malls) and of course the huge Santa house during Christmas. Last time I remember the mall being thriving was in 2001. By 2004-2005 it was pretty much dead already.
@italianman1992 Same with me. I remember when I was a little boy doing the same activities.. Having mom and dad drag me from shop to show. I used to love tinkering with all the random shops they had in the main walkways. They used to have RV sales once and a while. it was fun going inside them looking around. I miss the atmosphere it had. Calm easy going. Very well kept. the tile floors used to shine and sparkle. the overhead lamps used to light up the shops perfectly. The music was relaxing..
I miss this mall so much, you filmed in the exact area me and mom would always enter...and I'd usually go to the hallmark store to see the new ornaments around Christmastime. I would always want to go here just before the new year of school started, it was a tradition for quite a few years. There's three other malls close by to me, Greece Ridge, Eastview, and Marketplace...and ironically, Irondquoit was my favorite, I could've care less if this had happened to those ones.
@tennisfreak2495 you should see Evergreen Plaza Mall in Evergreen Park Illinois! I saw so many stores closed down! Lincoln Mall in Matteson Illinois is dead too but they are still trying to revive it! I'm so sad they closed down and demolished Woodmar Mall in Hammond Indiana, and the only thing is left is Carson Pirie Scott, and it's still open and nobody really goes there!
ohh dear. I don't know why they closed this Mall. Its beautiful. At Frankston. They have 20 story high building and its a plaza. Now they shut down and I saw beautiful elevators.
Makes me wish I could get a view inside the Galleria in Worcester. All I can get are the garages, the "Dungeon", and the one part that's still in-use (sometime later).
Yeah, I actually saw that video after DieselDucy's. Dagblasted gangs and drug dealers. They will get what is coming to them in the end and that is no lie. As sure as the sun sets at night and rises in the morning, these troublemakers will get what is due them.
@amanda3589 I can honestly say that I haven't had too many problems in Irondequoit or at what used to be Irondequoit Mall/Medley Centre. If you want to be in an unsafe area, take a ride to Northgate Plaza in Greece, NY.
@amanda3589 I lived in Gates for over 13 years. I knew that the Walmart Supercenter on Chili Ave was going to be a bad idea 10 years ago. Everybody thought I was wrong. Now, I'm sitting in my house that's far away from Rochester and laughing my butt off!
The user "thedreadedzero" has a complete tour of this mall on his channel, he also has a video of the elevator inside it, it's a Dover Impulse with the bird chirp.
there was once a 2 story shopping mall called charles town square its still owned by simon and is a verizon wireless call center and also houses the new city hall
It looks pretty up-to-date in style. Most dying/dead malls are usually out-of-style although a mall called "Riverside", a practically new mall died back in the early 1990's here in Colorado just out of Denver. I think the area it was in was not developed enough to justify it and therefore it was not practical to keep it open. It's now a call center for Eco-Star.

Eh, they should just shut down Rochester and Buffalo all together. Do you know why Rochester is so windy?
Because Buffalo blows and Syracuse sucks!
