Listen to this then Isla Del Sol... is it me or do these two songs seem to be tied together? I'm kinda new to The Ocean, and I've noticed that they seem to carry common sequences/riffs/soundscapes through their albums, but these two songs seem to have more than that in common. Any thoughts?
Ugh. The Meshuggah influence is evident, maybe not in this song but in some of their others. Dead on the Whole clearly uses a Meshuggah style riff in the verses. The City in the Sea, Hadean, Eoarchaen, and Ectasian all have Meshuggah-like riffs in those songs. If you don't think so, you've never listened to Meshuggah. Yes, the bands sound totally different, but if you deny there is influence from Meshuggah, then you obviously never heard them.
@TruthFamineFloater it all depends on what elements your focusing on lol. As far as the whole prog/experimental thing goes, your right. But another one of the main factors in meshuggah's music that stands out to me is their vocals and their usage of 8 string guitars, which this band doesn't really use as far as i know.
@TruthFamineFloater I see what you are saying. I also think Motley Crue and Slayer sound exactly alike as well. It is a shame that all metal just sounds the same. :-P
Messhugah cant be compared to this, completely different. I love old albums from The ocean: fluxion, aeolian. They are listenable for long time. But precambrian is also great.

Aeolian is so inferior to Fluxion. Just my opinion of course, but I could listen to Fluxion all day

Für Lieder wie dieses wurde das Wort "Meisterstück/Masterpiece" quasi erst erfunden. ^^ Großartig - ganz großartiger Musiksport. ^^

Really different from Precmabrian but still amazing in its own style. The best Meshuggah song they never wrote! ;)
