  • @TheSkepticChristian

When your peers are ignorant drones peer review is a laughable merit. Btw, denying gays the fundamental right to be married to the person they love is by definition discrimination.

  • How much is the coke corporation paying you Faircloth?! Just jokes.

  • rofl Sthilly Mormons, homosexuality is wrong but, apparently pedophilia is A-ok. Makes total sense to me. I guess it's wrong when two consenting adults have sex but some sicko can have a whole herd of school girls as wives.

  • religion is for retards

  • The Mormon church is NOT anti-gay. There are Mormon gays that are happy. My friend is gay (same-gender attraction), but he is happily married to a women. He is a man.

Mormon church teaches that having homosexual sex is wrong, but accepts homosexuals. Homosexual acts is different than same-gender attractions.

Mormon church does NOT teach that same-gender attraction is wrong

Homosexual sex is the problem, as I proved below with the peer reviewed papers I cited

    Check my previous 2 comments

  • @TheSkepticChristian Good for your happy bisexual friend. And bad for you and your distinction between "attraction" and "action". You, and your church are 'accepting' people while denying them the right to happiness and personal fulfillment. Regarding your last comment, have you considered that maybe, just maybe, homosexual and bisexual men would not be attempting suicide as often if bigots like you stopped bullying them? Clearly not. And it's "extract", not "abstract".

  • @AnnaDeeDee Well I presented papers from Norway and Denmark. Most people in those countries don't believe in a personal God.

The study in the other paper I cited, found that homosexual sex was linked positively to suicide.

It's Abstract, I am simply quoting the Paper.

I am against homosexual discrimination, just like Mitt Romney is. We just don't believe in homosexual marriage. I have a homosexual friend.

Anyways, provided Papers to back up my claims, where are yours??

  • @TheSkepticChristian You are the best youtuber. Your name is "TheSkepticChristian," you are ignorant as to the teachings of your own biogted church and justify your delusion by (apparently with a straight face) telling us about your "homosexual friend," and you capitalize words seemingly at random. You're great. Please keep posting. I'll keep laughing.

  • @dpowens I cited peer reviewed papers, you didn't.

  • @TheSkepticChristian Oh my, oh me! Now I am cornered by "TheSkepticChristian!" Which part of my previous comment would you like sourced, you incredible fool?

  • @dpowens I am only interested in peer reviewed papers, not your opinions.

Sorry, but I don't like to waste my time with people like you, but please just keep your prejudice opinions out of public.

  • @TheSkepticChristian Naaah. I think I'll say what I like, you ignorant, censorious, religious (I may be repeating myself here) fool.

  • Abstract:

"Suicide risk appears greatly elevated for men in same-sex partnerships in Denmark. To what extent this is true for similar gay and bisexual men who are not in such relationships is unknown, but these findings call for targeted suicide prevention programs aimed at reducing suicide risk among gay and bisexual men"

  • Woah. All of a sudden, I'm glad I've accidentally been keeping archives of the NYTimes and USA Today! Lol. (My university, SUNYAB or UB (State University of New York At Buffalo or just University at Buffalo) actually gives out those papers for free on campus to students. (They basically have newsstands that don't take money but rather just recognize student ID's.) I'm gonna go back and look @ that Nov. 18th issue he was talkin' about...this I *GOTTA* see! Lol

  • Why does it seem like nearly all religions across the board seem to have such a bias against women?

  • @FrankLightheart Actually, I'm raised Mormon. They place men in positions of authority, but the culture puts women on a high pedestal. They tell them they're all awesome daughters of God. Then, they pretty much tell men the women are better than they are. What modern culture hates is that they emphasize differences and enlarge them.

  • @mattrferr See now, I have no idea what sort of Mormon climate you grew up in, but I know a big hot button issue has to do with polygamy among the church-goers.

That to me sounds less like putting women on a pedestal and more like treating them as commodities.

Keep in mind, I have no idea if the church still advocates that, so it could be that was not in your upbringing.

  • @FrankLightheart Mainstream Mormonism discarded that due to federal pressures and desires for statehood :)

  • @mattrferr I approve the change.

  • @FrankLightheart It seems that way because they do lol. The patriarchal tendencies go back to its creation. The strong make the rules after all.

  • @riothero313 That is, until the religions reform enough that they become more fair. Then they can look back and say, "We never endorsed this. Those folks over there are from a bad sect that we don't associate with."

  • does he sponsor Diet coke??

  • sean... you should drink more water.. stop advertising COCA COLA!!!!!

  • dude, diet coke at the begining of another vid? seriously, please quite doing that. If you like diet coke, whatever, but I'm not going to watch your video if your just going to advertise at the beginning and end of every video. I see more than enough ads everdy as it is already. Please, stop doing this every video

  • Just going through a few of this guys' videos for the first time. Seems like a smart guy, but these Diet Coke beginnings are kind of annoying.

  • Focus the camera, please.

  • The title of this video reminded me of a cheesy little B movie by Matt and Trey called "Orgazmo.

Thumbs up if ANYONE has seen this little gem!

  • @ciaochowbella Me! I'm a big fan of Trey's.

  • Well this is why we create our own religion that rules for no other people to have religion, except for those who are following this religion only. We must demand all people to be naked except in the cold. We must ban sex except by those with acceptable genes. We must ban parenting except by those specifically trained to raise the ultimate child. Who is with me? Let's do this NOW!!!!!!!

  • exactly....its the moderate religious people and left wing western media which empowers the evil of extremists.

  • Who would "dislike" this? Crazy.

  • welcome to youtube, product placement.

  • what a hero.

  • An important message.

  • This is why postmodernism, when taken too far, fails. Instead of just promoting reasonable diversity of culture where there are relatively equal results in the ethics of promoting well-being and limiting suffering, it claims that all social norms are equally subjective, and therefore it's impossible to judge which are right or wrong in any objective sense. I think we can indeed say certain things, like slavery for example, are objectively wrong.

  • quit drinking diet soda. that shit's poison.

  • MORE "DIET COKE TM" PUBLICITY BULLSHIT?

    FUCK OFF, I UNSUSCRIBED.

  • Thanks Sean!

  • NAKED LADIESSSSSSSS NAKED LADIES YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS WHERE IT IS

  • It’s only been a few hundred years (18th Century) since the Catholic Church was systematically burning witches and atheists alive, (some Christian churches still do it in South Africa) and only last century that a fanatical Catholic (Hitler) was trying to exterminate the Jews. Islam is just a bit slow to catch up.

  • 0:21 - you, sir, are a liar

  • The only people I judge are the ones that are compelled to push their cultural (religious) norms on other people. My judgement is FUCK YOU!

  • like bill maher said, we are the only country that laughs and giggles like six year olds when we see peepee parts. america and islamic countries need to grow the fuck up.

  • @crowdaddy13 If you'd at least giggle and laugh, that'd be progress. No, America throws a total temper tantrum over peepee parts and nipples.

  • I totally agree to everything you say..but mentioning diet coke, is it really necessary?

  • I like this guy, keep making videos

  • Religion clouds the human mind with fog. The fog is so thick sometimes, they can't even see the illogic right there on their fucking nose.

  • Mormons against gays?

Well, just tell them there are 20 or so million Mor(m)ons in the world and at least 350 million gays. And if the Mormons don't shut up they'll get spanked on their stupid butts.

  • I agree with all of the points made, but could some one please correct me if I am wrong here as the stance of the catholic church is static is it not the fault of the "ACLU" American Civil Liberties Union that has by giving money to the catholic church given purposely to help with human traffic victims that is at fault here in there choice as to how to spend there funds in this matter.

  • Media and truth are incompatable.

    d.

  • When will you understand sir, that Islam is a religion of submisssion to the will of God. Muslims can't just do what they feel whenever, in Islam it's about Sami3na wa 3a7naa, we hear and we obey.

its not we hear, we think it, we sleep on it then we decide we obey half and change the rest according to me.

  • @awomahad

If that is the case then I ask you to look at what happens when Muslim leaders wish to impart different messages to there people do they not chose to utilise different passages of the Koran to make there points then leave it to the people to decide who chose the most complete interpretation? I think If you want to call yourself a Muslim it has to be I hear. I read the Koran. I check for relevant other passages in the Koran and obey Allah. Please give atheism a try you might like it :)

  • This guy doesn't look like a typical "Director of Strategy and Policy," this looks like any other rant on youtube. (at least from this video)

  • It's not always necessary to open debate or point out flaws in a position when giving an objective report of an occurrence. A non objective source, such as commentators, can provide that.

I would even say that's what makes it objective, the lack of a position based critique.

  • So sick of everyone tip toeing around religion and religious groups, time to take off the gloves and dish out some reality. Some people become hypnotized into stupidity once the words, church, religion, priest, pope are uttered!

  • I think you should drink another Diet Coke and make more videos.

  • Coke is bad, they abuse their union workers :(

  • @gamerunknown in addition to the carcinogenic ingredients

  • @gamerunknown

But the coca leaves support a flourishing population in south america, who would else simpy starve to death.

  • religion is no better than fortune cookies.

  • Sean Faircloth love ya man. Ever since I found out about you when you introduced dawkins at eku a few months back [which was amazing] I am hooked. Keep up the good work!

  • The ONLY reason the New York Times currently cares about MORmONISM'S *image problem* is because LDS INC has paid them to, you know, BRIBED them! As part of the huge MORmON PR campaign to get Mitt Romney in the Whitehouse. LDS INC has a long history of using bribes you know

like when they wanted to get the 2002 Olympics. MORmON'S *image problem* is directly due to their LDS BS/ EVIL WORKS PROBLEM. MORmONS are phony 2 faced back stabbing LIARS!

  • Truth is the new hate speach.

  • Are we talking liberal as in illogical hippy Che Guevara worshipers, or classical liberals independent freedom lovers who have a logically tenable position?

If the first then no it's not surprising that you don't get objective coverage from 'liberal'. If the second, yea it's pretty surprising most classic liberals can be a bit pedantic and typically hate hypocrisy.

  • I consider myself liberal, and this behavior in my peers drives me nuts. We liberals are definitely vulnerable to the hurt-feelings-card.

    Excellent point!

  • I agree. It is good that you commented on it, because it seems to be not as obvious to everyone as it is for me.

  • What is the difference between an extremist Muslim and a moderate Muslim?

    Honesty.

  • Perfect example of how moderate Muslims, and their "liberal" allies support the fundamentalist Islamic doctrines espoused by Muslim extremists. I imagine many of the "left wing" atheist youtubers who are useful idiots for Islam will try to argue that many moderate Muslims do support the Egyptian woman, you're just failing to perceive them, like we failed to perceive them condemning those who protested against the drawing of Mohammad. lol

  • only bad thing about this video is the fact that the coke is "diet"

  • @adamcrookedsmile I personally drink half and half in the morning.

Half coke and half diet coke.

  • I searched for "egyptian porn" on Google and got a lot of hits hahahahaha. Nothing I'd recommend though... Euurrghh...

  • Hear hear

  • Hmmm. Most crap things that happen in the world are caused by religious people following their religion.

  • Freedom of religion permits: slavery, oppression, child sexual abuse, demoralizing women, mutilation, and bigotry. God has set his people free. God is love. Is the love for god Stockholm's syndrome? Or is it said, "If you can not beat them, join them---before they beat you."

  • The west simply doesn't get it. Muslim extremists are the ones that make the gruesome headlines but moderate Muslims and their backwards logic and misogynistic culture are just as detrimental to the evolution of the human race as their radicalized counterparts.

Islam, at least the current version of it, is incompatible with the ideals and values of the 21st century and western civilization.

It's time to take of the gloves of political correctness and call Islam out for what it is.

  • @b1rdkeeper Awesome comment. :)

  • @b1rdkeeper Christianity isn't a hair better. Only difference is that the christians no longer have such a firm grip on the societies they live in as most muslims do.

  • @dawkinsbeagle And they all think it's hate-speech when you say the moderate ones are enabling the extremists. And they don't think it's brainwashing to impart their religious beliefs on their children. It's like they think children are the property of their parents.

  • @DukeTwicep Of course, in Islam they have circumvented this problem by claiming that all children are born Muslims. I'm sure many Christians believe that all children are born Christians as well.

  • @DukeTwicep-And they all think it's hate-speech when you say the moderate ones are enabling the extremists.

Exactly, and that is why even the moderates are a problem. I can't stomach those who say "I don't care if you call yourself a Muslim, or a Christian as long as you don't want to impose your beliefs on others". Well I do care, things like gay marriage, stem cell research, or creation being taught in schools would be non-issues if 80%+ of Americans didn't call themselves Christians.

  • @b1rdkeeper Some people do manage to call themselves muslims while totally accepting and following our values. But when they base their values on their religion, I agree with you, they are a problem.

But they aren't the only problem. Personnally I've had more problems with christians than muslims. But it depends where you live.

The main problem for me is how both religions cover up problems... Like people needing mental help or violent husbands (for muslims).

  • @b1rdkeeper Sorry, I hit vote down by accident, I totally agree VOTE UP!!

  • @b1rdkeeper Don't forget christianity mate..

  • @b1rdkeeper

I wouldn't blame all of Islam. They are in a dark age and I think it's our responsibility to pull them out kicking and screaming like they helped us in Europe. Islam was once a flourishing country with tolerance, yet now it's what we see today. America has a lot to do with it, but I think they will climb out of this hole at some point.

  • @TheKenTerry Islam has never really helped anyone, most of the things they "discovered" in the middle ages were just lost ancient greek writings. They constantly took christian/Jewish land, and forced them (and hindus, athiests ect.) out of the land.

  • @Brockatista

I would suggest reading more in that topic. They didn't steal anything, they fought over it and won, let's not pretend they are the first country or culture to do that. Do you complain about Alexander taking over Europe and the Middle East? Also, they never claimed to discover anything, religious fundamentalists were burning old science documents and the Arabs decided to buy them so they could learn, and they did. Also, it was the Christians who waged the big wars.

  • @b1rdkeeper I am not overly fond of Islam, but am more than a little dubious about the "easy target" singling out that it receives in the current climate - ie criticise Islam by all means, but please also try to examine the plethora of other forces currently at work in the world.

  • @b1rdkeeper The video after this one proves how false that is. Extremist American Christianity holds the same warped values as extreme Islam.

  • @thinkhendo Well, not to side with anyone here, but I don't see how christians being as bad as muslims makes muslims being bad false... :|

  • @HitodamaKyrie It doesn't make it false, but it is rather dishonest to imply that the the problem is Islam given the same problems run rampant in his home country with Christianity.

  • @thinkhendo Religion is a problem in general.

  • @b1rdkeeper

That's the same with all religious groups though, no?

  • @b1rdkeeper For bonus points, replace every instance of 'Muslim' with 'Christian', and every instance of 'Islam' with 'Christianity'. Interestingly enough, it still reads true. And unlike Islam, radical Christianity is currently making an assault upon the Western society in which I live, entirely from within.

  • @JesusKrispies, there is a HUGE difference between mainstream Islam and =SECULAR= Judaism and Christianity. Yes, all religions are vile, but Islam happens to be the bane of the 21st century. If you don't believe me just open tomorrow's newspaper.

  • @b1rdkeeper Comparing the mainstream of one religion to the secular version of another is apples and oranges. Look at what mainstream Christians in the United States profess to believe, and what they are doing with these beliefs. Look also at what Christian nations throughout Africa do to their citizens. You'll see more than a few parallels between these Christians and your Muslims, I assure you.

I focus more upon Christianity because that's what currently poses a dire, direct threat to the US.

  • @JesusKrispies, I understand your point but totally disagree with you. There is a HUGE difference. Like I said, all religions suck but the biggest threat to the US and the rest of the world -- especially the Arab world and Africa -- is Islam. It's even more dangerous than you think considering the FACT that Islamic parties are now filling the power vacuums that are resulting from the "Arab Spring".

And it's more than just religion. This is no less than a clash of civilizations.

  • @JesusKrispies there are more parallels between xtheist and Christians. They r taught by the same people and both are zionist. I didn't seem to get bitten by the red china brainwashing but then I don't watch t.v or go to church, they have a hard time getting me.

  • @TheAmazingamerica I don't follow. What do you mean by 'xtheist', and how does it relate to Zionism or China? I'm afraid I can't make heads or tails of this.

  • @JesusKrispies TheAmazingamerica is a batshit crazy, conspiracy idiot. Give him a chance and he'll spell 'Jew' with an 'x' as well. He also has about 15 different YT accounts and does ridiculous little rants about being anti-white and a genocide conspiracy.

He's a hoot if you like to wind 'em up and watch 'em run!

  • @ciaochowbella oh lie much? yes u do.

  • @JesusKrispies I say xtheist and xews because they like to say xmas and xtian but don't like it when u repay them the favor. Most of the leaders of xtheism are in fact xewish. Coincidental in xewish religion, the world must become noahides which means they need to get rid of Muhammad and Jesus.

  • @TheAmazingamerica Wouldn't it have been simpler to just mention that you're insane right up in front and save me the trouble of trying to decipher your babble?

  • @TheAmazingamerica People use X in place of the letters Chris in Christian and Christmas to truncate it when spelling it. There is no Chris in the word Atheist. You actually think using the word xtheist is somehow insulting or bothersome to atheists? It's not. It's mildly amusing, honestly. But only mildly.

  • spring arabs might one day dream of the good old days with the gentler dictators when they had so much more freedom

  • extremists ? not everyone in egypt ? next comes the arab winter .... a cold winter without end

  • extremists ? not everyone in egypt ?

  • Funny how he has no problem saying the two last problems are the fault of the Mormon and the Catholic religion. Yet he doesn't mention the Islamic religion once in the entire video in reference to the first problem and only hints at it by saying "some imam" and mentioning that it occurred in Egypt.

I agree with the message of the video though.

  • @Anon12356 It seems to me his point was precisely that it was pretty much *all* of Egyptian society that condemned her - not just the religious, and certainly not just religious organizations. If his point is that it was NOT just muslims, but even those who are supposedly secular, it wouldn't be very helpful to speak of islam. In the other cases, it is organized religion that is concerned.

  • @dojohansen123

Close to 100% of Egyptians are religious and over 90% of Egyptians are Muslims. Why not speak of Islam? We don't have the same specific problem with women getting naked on the internet in Western Muslim minority countries. He has no problem speaking of other religions Catholicism and Mormonism. Non-Muslims may have condemned the woman but that doesn't change the fact their society is dominated by Islam, there may be a link.

  • @Anon12356

He doesn't need to adress it seperately, since the setting in an "islamic country" made that clear enough.

But he uses the outrage about it as a vessel for the criticism he wanted to pass in the first place, namely the same kind of biggotry in religious self-righteuosness accepted in his very own country.

  • @XmarkedSpot

The setting of the other problems in a traditional "chistian country" was made just as clear but those were addressed separately?

  • @Anon12356 so you think he's muslim?

  • @cichriz

No, how on Earth did you come to that conclusion/question/accusation? I don't believe I said I thought he was a Muslim, and I'm not sure who you mean by "he"? You mean Sean Faircloth the man in the video? or the YouTuber I was replying to?

  • @Anon12356 I meant the man on he video, the thing is that your comments seem suspicious (is that the right word?) about Sean faircloth not mentioning islam on the video.

Perhaps I'm just reading to much into youtube comments nowadays.

  • @cichriz

He is the Director of Strategy and Policy for the U.S. branch of the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science, so I think it is very unlikely he would be a Muslim. I don't understand why he didn't mention Islam in the video, but I'm not going to jump to conclusions over his religious views just because of that. I can think of other reasons one might not mention Islam.

  • Hm... everytime i hear those stories/reports, e.g. about the catholic church, i'd like to impose tax and law on them... no rephrase: not law, but justice and revenge.

    they truly are hateful f**kers!

  • Very well said and sincere. :)

  • This guy is super nice, too. He was very kind and well spoken when I met him.

  • @undisputedgreatest He is a professional lobbyist. While I suppose it is not logically impossible that he is also nice, I wouldn't trust any judgement (including my own) based on personal impressions. Just saying :)

  • It's just such a great play on the media's obsession with showing 'both sides'. Just play the victim while you're victimising and the media will go with it.

  • Okey-dokey up until the "liberal media" part. The "liberal media" is itself, a fiction. There's corporate/commercial media, and there's all others. The views they express, and how they're perceived, "makes" them either liberal or conservative. In the commercial media what's important is: what, if any, mindset the viewer is in when the ads run. If it's entertained and emotionally "spun up", then they're more like to buy what's advertised.

In "all others media"... not so much.

  • I need better news sources, this is the first I've heard about these three things. Unless this is an old video. Australia might not have the problems other countries do with religion, but our media is the most concentrated in the 'western, civilised' world.

  • stupid christians

  • Religion and sex...big problem... except when its with children? Wish I could live long enough to see Religion disappear. 'Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest'

     Diderot

  • @CorporalNym I'd argue that targeting religion as the problem is pointless. Freedom from religion and decreasing its influence on society is however worth striving for.

  • It's nice to know that I am not the only person who drinks diet coke for breakfast. So kiss my ass condescending man in the check-line.

  • Hey, how come I never see any naked men protesting on Youtube?

  • The liberal media is far from liberal.

  • wow - thanks for intoducing me to sean faircloth, RD!!!

  • What some Christians believe to be part of their given human right is the right to seize that from fellow human beings.

  • The 1 question that we all want to ask... is she hot?

  • @OurConsciousSkies Fucking SMOKING! *fap*

  • The only way the church will ever change is from the inside. We need more atheist preachers. I await the day when it will all falls down like dominos, imagine the embarassment these people will endure, can't wait.

  • good video!

  • People tell people what they can do with their bodies today in the United States. We live in the Nanny State.

  • Yeah, great point of course... but, how many googled her in order to see her nude pictures, haha... I certainly did :P She's quite quite... Come on now! Be honest...

  • Sean Faircloth is becoming one of my favourite atheists the more I watch his videos.

  • dude looks and talks just like thomas lennon

  • Try tea.

  • Name me a religion that isn't sexist or anti-gay.

  • @isaak74 pastafarianism

  • @priyochatterjee1 Is what what you call islam now?

  • @isaak74 Jainism, maybe?

  • @isaak74 All religions are sexist but Hinduism,Buddhism and Jainism are not very sexist or superstitious. Most of them are atheists.

  • @RookieN08 To be honest. These are not religions at all. I would call them moral systems. Other religions should look at them and do same. Stop spreading fables (very bad fables) and move to philosophy. Oh, I just forget something... hinduism, buddhism and jainism do not make money. That is why religions will not step down from their positions. They would loose money and power over their slaves.

  • @RookieN08

hindus are not atheists from what I understand.

  • @RookieN08 Buddhists and Jainists, sure, but not Hindus. Being hindu, by definition, means believing in Brahman.

  • @RookieN08

Buddhism is quite sexist actually. In the world of buddhism, females are more or less property to be ordered around and never question. I've seen it myself.

  • thumbs up if youre planning to look for the picture on Google ASAP

  • I still don't see how, in an otherwise secular society, religion still reigns over the world like big daddy and his belt. Every freedom, it seems, is just to replace a new injustice brought back after good people stopped it years ago. Of course, I am not speaking of the woman with the nude photos, since she is from a part of the world right out of the dark ages.... or bronze... No wonder those people still believe in their gods... no time has passed since the books were written.

  • I've started calling you 'Darwin's rottweiler's puppy'. It's meant affectionately of course! I think you're amazing Sean. Great topics. Atheism and anti-theism is clearly the strongest feminist force in the world today, standing up against the last hiding place of women's subordination and control.

  • wow, coke is really progressive -- taking on an atheist as their new spokesman.

  • religion was created to overcome the guilt from killing and stealing.

  • There's a petition called "a free and secular middle east and africa", if anybody's interested.

Takes courage to challenge groupthink, regardless the group. Faircloth gets my applause.

In defense of the "mainstream press", it *has* lately given at least a fair amount of attention to child abuse. Might not seem so at first, but I bet we'll discover this century a direct relationship between that and the problems he's describing. Including the sins of the press.

  • Just something iv been thinking about today to do with religion in general. Doesn't religion seem like a natural side effect of evolution? (A harmful side effect no doubt). Not specifically physical evolution but development of our mental abilities. We evolved to a point were we could see a sun in the sky and ponder it, but we were still dumb enough to worship it and call it god. Now we are at the point when we are becoming intelligent enough to know how retarded we were (or still are).
