  • she is the most spectacular thing in the whole entire universe. and this is such a beautiful song <3

  • I started reading the Little Prince because of this song. Just halfway through the book I was able to catch most of the references. That put a smile on my face.

  • Oh my god... this is gorgeous<3

  • le petit prince!

  • Anything that is crushed, pure and fermented; anything made from an open fire of angst, sadness, bitterness and despair; anything made from fresh wounds, from real cuts and bruises, and peremptory ailments of heart and soul; anything rotten and decaying and honest; anything woven and sewn with tears and sweat and blood; any severed wood deformed and tempered by time, wind and ill-weather; any form or shape made from all of these is and must be immortal.

  • my favorite book and my favorite singer. this is the best song ever

  • love The Little Prince!

  • Before I even listened to it, the second I saw baobab I knew it was the little prince and I nearly fainted

  • tho-O-o-o-orns.. i love that. her voice sounds so weirdly loveable in that part

  • Has the sheep eaten the flower, or not?"

  • LE PETIT PRINCE! favourite book.

  • I love the Little Prince... I totally wrote a baobabs song without realizing one of my main influences already had one (I haven't heard much of her, but the stuff I hear always ends up making an impact). lol. But this is so lovely, I love her style.

  • I was the Aviator in a stage performance of LP, and it has since become my favorite story of all time. I must notify my cast of this song's existence!

  • ReSpekt.

  • Wow......how have I never read the little prince before..

  • i never finished reading it. i'll think i'll just start all over again :)

  • When I saw the title of the song:

"Baobabs? This- Is it- It can't be- IT IS!"

    |D;;;

regina spektor + le petit prince = YESPLZ.

  • 2 people know about buying shit...

  • One of my absolute favorite ReSpekt songs. (:

  • The Little Prince is my mom's fave book, and I read it when I was in middle school-ish. So when my friend mentioned this song a few days ago, I was all "Wait, that wouldn't happen to be about The Little Prince, right?" =D

  • spektography you never fail me :)

  • The first time i heard this song was in 6th grade... and the next day we started to read the little prince in class... i was like "this sounds really familiar...."

    i love Regina so deeply...

  • I loved htis book! <3

  • LoL I was like "Baobabs? Tamed? LITTLE PRINCE!"

  • i know! and thorns.. it's like shes talking about herself being the rose without her thorns. and she was tamed!

    woah.. reminiscence. ;)

    my favorite book.

  • @Tangerine08 YES! :)

  • @Tangerine08 Same! :D My favorite book.<3

  • I read the book because of this song. A wonderful book, a wonderful song. There's something very sweet and innocent about both even though they deal with serious things. I like the old translation of the little prince better than the newer one.

  • I never realised until today that this song was about The Little Prince. I re-read it yesterday and then listened to this song again and I thought HOOOLD OOON. The first line especially 'You have tamed me, now you must take me'. Like the fox said, if you tame something it's your responsibility. If you take a single rose out of fifty thousand roses it becomes unique to you because it is your rose. Aaawwrr. Such a lovely story. And Regina is an amazing woman.

  • the little prince is my bible and regina could be god. i was too happy to find this. :D

  • I love the piano intro...

  • i love her

  • This song. Is. Marvelous.

  • Really wonderful performance. It's rare to find an artist who can perform as well live as she does record.

  • i am reading Le Petit Prince in french class and i love it ! i have had the song Baobabs on my ipod for a very long time. I can't believe i never realized that Regina Spektor was talking about Le Petit Prince, and we are almost done with the book! J'adore Regina et Le petit prince!

  • this reminds me of the Taming of the Shrew... the part saying, "you have tamed me, now you must take me. how am i supposed to be? i don't have my thorns."

  • You have my hope, you have my faith, you have my balance... if there really are gods, i suspect that they watch over you...

  • I love this song. And Le Petit Prince.

  • Regina Spektor's use of allusions is purely genius. This is one of my favorite songs, mainly because the book The Little Prince was also cute.

  • This song is just amazing. ;]

  • I like the second t0o. it's pretty. which sounds cheesy and corny. I know. Whatever. Sorry. I love Regina.

  • This song and Le Petit Prince are both gorgeous works of art.

The second verse is my favorite. Such a statement.

  • The song is beautiful. When i read the title on the 'related videos' i was like, Baobabs?? NO WAY!!! I officially adore and greatly admire her, like we all should =]

  • <3

    Such a nice voice.

  • sweet!

  • I just re-read Le Petit Prince in original French-- it is fantastic, and only Regina could write a song such as this.

  • I HAVE THE BOOK BY THE FRENCH GUY. I was looking on iTunes & I saw it then I was determined to look it up because I was like BAOBABS. FAMILIAR. =] regina spektor is so cool, man.

  • man this song is WAYY too short. i love it so much

  • "Le Petit Prince" is a children's book written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. It's really, really beautiful and you should definitely check it out. This song references the story a lot.

It's one of my favorite books, and therefore this is one of my favorite songs by Regina.

  • This is going to be in my head, like, forever. I love this song.

  • Is this a different version than the one on the album...if so then how did you come across it???

  • this is beautiful. I love Le Petit Prince. Anyways, you know that Begin to Hope is an actual track? I think she only played it once but you can find it in this big fansite. It's a great song too. It's just sad that almost nobody knows about it. You can just imagine how small that population is.

  • I agree that it is beautiful and I love Le Petit Prince also! And thanks for letting me know that Begin to Hope is an actual track! I really love it! Although I do love all of Regina's songs.

  • "And I wouldn't raise my child inside this city anyway

They grow up too savvy and they grow up too fast"

    That line always kills me.

  • Oh my god, that is just like the town I live in. I want my kids to be sweet and innocent. Not all savvy since all the savvy kids think their all that and are jerks. Btw, Spektor rocks!~

  • the sweetest and simplest melody:D

    "you have tamed me

    now you must take me

how am i supposed to be

if i don't have my thorns now."

  • This!.... This is....a pivitol time in my life! I've never heard this song, but I loev Regina and The Little Prince Equally....Lovely:))))))))))*laughs and crys at the same time*

  • Me too, I feel exactly the same as you!

  • haha that was my reaction when I found this song

  • YOu have no idea how right you are!!
