  • I sold it, but drivability was fine once I replaced the plugs and loaded a Bama Chips Custom tune. If I would miss the first turn of the key, it would sometimes be challenging to start.

  • whats the driveability like???

  • I bet that pony can run son sounds real nice

  • Nicely done! Wicked mustang.

  • @Mrbulldog762

He's lucky they came out with the new 3 valve design for this body style, I have an 03 Mach 1 and I want to put cams in it so bad but it has 4 of them and that's alot of money just for parts O.o

  • Up until recently i have considered getting mutha thumprs instead of the DR cams. Hows drivability?

  • drive men run! bichicome tremendo auto y no le kemas la cubierta alcahuete

  • I have a 2006 mustang gt and wanna install ford racing hot rod cams. Can I do that on stock internals??

  • @miriem8907 of course you can :)

  • does the mutha thumpr give you power & torque or its only for muscle cars sound??

  • @alipontiac Hey, I sold the car a while ago, but yes gained quite a bit of power compared to FRPP. Both brands have lopey idle, but the Mutha thumpr and exhaust port work gave me around 45HP extra. Some fuss about the powerband up in the RPMs. Never bothered me, as this was my 3rd cammed GT--just nailed the pedal/shifted higher in the band. Judging from your sig (alipontiac) you know about cams in the 400 cube trans ams of the 70's and how much they improve performance w/ slight head work.

  • @Mrbulldog762 Overhead cam motor--that's the way it has to be--but much easier to install

  • I think this is what you call sex?

  • @mexbrown Yes, a cammed mustang, a screaming Porsche 911, or a wide open Suzuki GSXR1000 all equal sex! LOL!

  • So how many camshafts does your car have xD

  • @Tarnjit69: that motor has 2 overhead camshafts

  • do they eat more gas

  • @lote1234567891011 : Yes, yes, yes. Before the cams that car got 23 mpg usually (mostly highway), after installing the cams, it made 13 mpg, after tuning and plugs it went up to 17-18 mpg

  • @ppeterso22 SHIT THATS BAD

  • Nice sounds man...a question...why did you go with the mutha thumprs instead of the regular thumprs...more lope?! Sweet ride!!

  • @04SVTDVR: Talked to a couple of tuners. The MT's made more power (lope nice too!)

  • What series of Flowmasters are these mufflers?

  • @tamaninja00: American Thunder, 2 chamber 50's, wanted the 3 chamber 60's but Flowmaster told me that they couldn't make them for the newer mustangs due to muffler designs. Try researching the Corsa's--I like those.

  • Where to begin with aftermarker parts.

  • @RicanPusher: Gears, shifter, LCA's but really it's what you want--don't let these know it all's tell you cant do certain things first

  • can i use comp springs and retainers with these cams ?

  • @slim69S: You can, but I only had 40k miles and didn't need them--no issues with valve float

  • damn i want cams so badly.

  • awwesome sound really bad ass check may gt 2007 thanks

  • Yeah, I miss this car sometimes....It was smooooooooth! Sorta rhythmic!!! LOL!

  • sounds like a lamborghini with a v8 sounds bad ass!!!!!!

  • Sold it and bought a 911 type 997S--Don't get me wrong, the 911 screams and is faster all the way around, but this Stang was something else!

  • it's louder at idle than when it's revved... or is it just the camera?

  • I sold the car during the summer but the camera makes changes to the sound. On consumer digital cams you usually don't get line level controls--you get automatic level (sound compressor/limiter) so it brings the sound down to avoid distortion.

  • hey man your cars sounds good i have got a 05 roush mustang stage 1 and i have done some engine wrk to i have the stage 2 comp cams mutha thumpr and some of the same mods as you but im having a tune prob for the cams what did you do for the tuning..

  • I sold the car during the summer, but this is what I did--because I had major idle issues: 1.) called Doug from Bamachips and ordered his tune (he has the same yr car himself--but like yours I think his is a Roush. load the tune,-then 2.) immediately change those factory spark plugs--I had a bad miss/backfire issue right after the cam install and Doug compensated for it with the tune so I could drive the car to work--but the idle got perfect once I changed the plugs at home one night after work

  • Is this the hydraulic flat tappet or the Hydraulic Roller.

  • Roller cam--but the profile is so aggressive that it resembles a flat tappet soundwise

  • do cams make your exhaust louder?

  • I would have to say yes. I already had flowmasters on the car and was disappointed about how soft the exhaust note was. So, I added Cold Air Intake, Charge motion delete plates, and cams at the same time. It got very loud!!!! I actually sold the car a week ago but before that was wondering what the cams sounded like with the SS stock Ford Mufflers.

  • i have a CAI, bbk shorty headers and x-pipe and magnaflow mufflers. i think these cams would make my exhaust one of the best sounding

  • Hey dude remember me? I had a few questions about getting a cam when I get a mustang. Well I was lucky enough to get a 2010 shelby gt500. I got comp cams in it, and it sounds so bad ass. I will make a video of it when I get time to.

  • CONGRATS ON THAT RARE SHELBY! We need videos at once!! You actually tore into those gt-500 heads and installed the Comp Cams? Most excellent--I've never seen one with comp cams!

  • Comment removed

  • Nice car, I have a '08 Bullitt and was thinking of putting the mega thumpr cam in it. I was wondering if you have put the car on a dyno yet, and if so the what the numbers were so I know what to expect.

  • Alkenssj7, I haven't put it on the dyno yet so I hate to speculate horsepower, but w/ all the mods I'm hoping for 350-360 (it baselined when new at 290 on the dyno--so it was rather fast from the get go

  • Hey nice car. I'm about to get a 2005 mustang gt, but there is a few things I wanna know. How much does it cost to put a new cam in, and where do I go to get it done? Nice car man.

  • Hi, sorry, I just noticed your question. Thanks for the compliment. Figure $670/pr for the Comp Cam Mutha Thumprs, $200 for the Comp Cam Phase Limiters, 1000 labor at a Ford Dealership (less at other places--but I'm funny about my car and special tools are involved), $300 for a Handheld SCT Tuner, and a custom tune (I used Bamachips--Doug is the best!). That's about how much give or take a little. Get the 2005--it is a very reliable Mustang--mine has had ZERO issues! Good luck! THX!

  • Your welcome. Damn haha that will take a while for me to get. But it's worth it. Yea I always liked the 2005 mustangs, but I like how the 2010 mustang gt looks but it cost to damn much for these days. Thanks man and good luck on your car! I love it!!

  • so are the 3.73 gears are faster than the 4.10 gears?

and is the comp cam like a supercharger.

  • No and not really. Just different ways to get there. 4.10s are faster but for me, having used 4.10s before, are more than I want to deal with on the interstate without a 6th gear . FI is tough to beat on a V8--so I'm sure blowers can be worth up to 100hp on these motors

  • Thanks a lot. and 1 more thing is you were to get a s/c would it change the sound of your comp cam(mufflers out the back.) see i don't want that nice sound to change and im scared it will if i get a s/c.

i don't care if my rev change just the regular sound when you start it up.

  • The sound won't change that much (louder maybe?)--you have the same valve events going on. A lot of people say don't run the Thumper cams with FI--but then again, they told me that be E cam on my last mustang was bad with a blower--worked fine for me! you might want to find someone out there with that combo and hear it for yourself...a lot of people like to give advice--i like to try stuff myself...I'm hard-headed I guess, good luck!

  • thanks a lot. i actually i have heard some one with a set up wit a Whipple s/c but they had hot rod cams. and i don't like the sound of the hot rod cams. but other than that is sound pretty original.

i asked him would the sound change and he said no so i think im good.

  • A user Troutbutler asked me about 3.73 gears and these cams, but I accidentally removed the question..Sorry. Troutbutler, the 3.73s are a must have with these cams. If I didn't commute so far to work i would have used 4.10s. My mpg (some care about that--some don't has fallen down to about 17.5mpg overall...

  • Haha that's cool. I'm thinking 3.73's as well since I also have a long work commute. But I was going to get 3.73's anyway, cams or not.

  • yeah 3.73's look like the sweet point instead of running to 4.10's

  • what did u pay for installation?

  • Pretty damn decent Pete....

  • Sweet dude. you the man

  • Sounds real mean. What gain did you get after the cam.

  • Got to find another dyno nearby, but in 2006 it did well when it was near stock 289hp/302ftlbs. Figure +35-40 w/CAI, Cams, Charge Motion Delete plates. I'll keep you posted.
