When she was beginning to lose hope after not winning the grand title of "Little Big Star" - a talent show on Philippine TV when she was only 12 - and was thinking of quitting singing altogether as a result, her Mom would sing this to her... "be patient my child, everything will work out fine, and in the end your dreams will come true if you persevere."

PEMPENGCO is one of the surname based on the name of the immigrant Chinese patriarch of the family, possible during the late 1800s and early 1900's or the American period. PE PENG is the name and the CO i believe some sort of a title of esteem and respect. Other prominent surname of Chinese descent in the Philippines are the Cojuangco, Gokongwei, Tuason, etc.
