@vikidobe : For a complete novice, it might be a problem to use messenger bags. Many people cycle with backpacks /rucksacks with two straps, which might give better balance. But panniers mounted on a luggege rack is much more comfortable for "longer" rides ( > 5 km or so in my experience)
Good tips on fitting and inspecting a helmet, but helmets are greatly overrated. The few countries that have forced all cyclists to wear helmets, did not experience improvemet in cyclist safety. Instead the number of cyclists decreased, and researchers suggest it was the the most careful and easily scared ones that stopped cycling. What we need is to reduce the serious accidents at source. Cyclists training is one, but unattentive drivers bear the main responsibility. Check Wikipedia for ref
@brusselmkg I can honestly say you're stupid for giving me wikipedia as a source of "facts" information... seriously? your source of certain knowledge is wikipedia? you really trust wikipedia/
@yudy92 : I love you too :-) Wikipedia is often a great _starting_point_ . (Did you bother looking?) This particular article (Bicycle helmet) includes references to articles in peer reviewed scientific journals. As to my comment: The length of the comment field is restricted, and it seems posting of links is not allowed. Still I should perhaps have anticipated such interpretations. The evidence and set of arguments surrounding this topic are VERY complex and varied. Contact me if interested.
This seriously was one helpful video, and Ive been through 20. so far its in the top 3 most helpful. :) Thanks!

I am just getting ready to commute...but wouldn't carrying a laptop in a messenger bag overweight you...I mean put you off balance? No expert...
