  • All singers cannot be like Bjorling & Pavarotti.

    Enjoy! He is good singer.

  • It's a shame that people don't listen to a man with a voice like this. Paul Pott's deserve's respect, a lot of respect.

  • STEVE THORESON is all I can say, listen to this guy, STEVE THORESON and enjoy

  • Why dont you all just listen to the music and enjoy it. Who cares if he isnt as good as the masters, I'm sure none of you are. I enjoyed it and thats all that matters to me.

    Merry Christmas

  • Merry Christmas indeed!

  • Deplorable. Mind your ways, Paul.

  • Oh Dear!

  • To Everybody and to the wonderful person Paul Pott !

It is true, that he does not sound like a professional Tenor, but tell me how coul he?

He has been working to pay his rent since he got out of school and just sang for himself and for fun.- Therefore he does a great job!

I am a professional opera singer and belive me: It does not help you if you have the biggest voice in business. You have to open ears, eyes and the heart of your audience and thats what he does. Congratulation Paul !!!

  • Thanks Max, it's good to read an intelligent comment like yours!

I'm a tenor-baritone myself and I just had my debut. It went pretty well. I've also learnt that it's really about what you want to convey. A voice can be shaped and you'll need a good teacher for that of course. I'm sure Paul's already good voice will mature in the coming years if he progresses to learn.

  • You people are all crazy, Paul Potts is actually pretty good... of course he's not nearly as good as Pavarotti, but he still kicks ass.

  • a baritone trying to be a tenor... it doesnt work that way. good song but butchered

  • lol

  • I didn't realize so many upstanding opera critics browsed YouTube. It's so easy to criticize someone else's work, but I'd like to see the same harsh critics go on stage and do what he does. If you don't like the way he sings, then watch a different video.

  • AMEN

  • just enjoy the moment and the christmas song..you all ask for too much..we all die sometime..stop nitpicking..thanks

  • Well said. Unfortunately, it's human nature to complain more often than to just appreciate things as they are

  • His breath control is poor and his diction also.Maybe his teeth dont help. There are many young talented opera singers out there. There are just not enough jobs for all of them.Paul Potts is and idol singer and thats all.Sorry.

  • see pavarotti and domingo.....

  • Screw them...the greatest of all is just a click away: CARUSO!

876234ABC, comparing Potts with Caruso or Lanza really says something about you. You might want to get your ears checked.

  • screw them all,, no not really but hey, I can only say jussi björling, he was the greatest

  • He comes through, even on a lousy--was that a cellphone?--video.

Those who get all "bitchy" about Operatic Purity must remember that CARUSO was dissed when he was young as an upstart, Lanza was decried as "too Hollywood, can't do it onstage" and Luciano was dismissed as "iffy" and unserious. Now the people who Cannot Do/Can Complain are griping about this kid.

I'm picky, and I like this kid. I'm grateful he's come along after my beloved friend Maestro Pavarotti has gone--to keep it fresh!

  • Um yeah, glad you enjoy Paul Potts, but I could have done without the "lousy" video remark. Ouch.

  • Don't take it personally. It's not a studio camera, obviously. I am not speaking of YOU, just the quality of the image and sound. And your effort served a purpose--it shows that PP has the ability to "come through" even when the electronic representation end of the production values is given short shrift.

  • True enough. It was a bare bones performance in a pretty bad venue but he didn't let any of that get in his way.

  • Thank you Britain's Got Talent!

  • Thank you for putting the clip of this beautiful song up. Paul Potts has touched people and entertained them and that's what counts, that so many get pleasure from his voice. This song is hardly opera and has been sung by a wide range, including pop-singers. Check out the version by Australia's Anthony Callea for an example of a different style.

  • Paul has touched many people in the modern world that we know it, a task which even the great singers in past will probably appreciate since appreciation during their time was easier as the music at their time was really of operatic nature. It's harder to feed the techy ears with more cultured music like this and that is what Paul is doing! For what its worth, let his magic in you and embrace you...this singer's got heart and that what emanates in his singing...

  • thanks for this it was wonderful

  • thanks for posting this. paul potts really has made the worldwide interest in opera explode. what a voice, what a story.

  • opera's been around for 400 hundred years. we didnt need this cheap version of an opera singer to peak our interest. so PLEASE, thanks!

  • Maybe you don't need but you certainly cannot speak on behalf of the whole pop-world.

  • It's called "exposure", people gain interest by seeing forms of art indirectly. You, a lover of Opera, should rejoice knowing people are gathering an interest by listening to a "cheap version" (which I don't believe it is). If this version is cheap then people will have no problem feeding their passion for Opera.

  • Wow, your name really reigns true.

  • that was to operabitch77

  • for all the technical brilliance of opera, pop music has reduced it to a side show. Paul potts must be appreciated cos inspite of his 'cheap' voice, he gannered cross-over appeal like few if any great opera acts. Music is all about touching the heart, not how technically perfect one is. And paul touched millions

  • stop being caddly.paul potts is talented and brings emotion to his performances, which is seriously lacking in todays music. And don't say we and our when you are only speaking for yourself. Alot of opera fans (myself include)don't think he is cheap,so jog on operab***h(by the way jog on is similar to fuck off in case you didn't know)

  • fuckoff?? opera fan?? believe me when i tell you that you are NO opera fan if you enjoy this garbage. fuckn' ass wipe. ill finger fuck you in front of paul potts!

  • WOW thank you thank you thank you FOR POSTING THIS, This was one of Paul's best performances to date!

  • Thank you for posting these fabulous clips for all that could not be there. What a voice, what an artist.

  • STANDING OVATION!!!! HE DESERVED IT

  • Not taking anything from Paul or his wonderful performance, but I don't think there were any chairs at FCP, so yes he did have a standing ovation :)

  • Thanks for posting this....Paul Potts is a very rare treasure.

  • Speaking of rare, I thought it was a nice opportunity to share some new clips of Paul performing

  • Can't make out what he is saying, but just the tone of his voice is enough! Those lucky Canadians!

    Whatta voice, whatta VOICE!

    THE voice.

  • He did little intros before each song, and even live none of us could hear well. So I left those out of the clips for the most part. When he started to sing though...!
