@jmar1371 I think the fees are a good idea.. and the judge is not setting those fees on a whim... those are fixed by law so the judge has to go ahead and read them off at sentencing as a matter of legal procedure. I am not sure how things work in this particular state but some inmates have work in prison where they can earn a very small sum per day... if that is the case in this state why not take his money each day instead of the taxpayer. It will already cost millions to hold him for life.

@jmar1371 I think the fees are a good idea.. and the judge is not setting those fees on a whim... those are fixed by law so the judge has to go ahead and read them off at sentencing as a matter of legal procedure. I am not sure how things work in this particular state but some inmates have work in prison where they can earn a very small sum per day... if that is the case in this state why not take his money each day instead of the taxpayer. It will already cost millions to hold him for life.
