I buy european cars...I've had the last one for four years now 300,000 miles without a thing wrong with it. Tell me you can get that from a Chrysler and I will consider purchasing one...
@amityphil Hi, I hope your lucky with that ford. The service department here has been having a ton of new fords coming in for transmission problems, blown transmissions as well as many other issues. The local service station is advising you to stay away from them as the quality has really been slipping.
That was the year they moved production to Mexico hence the $1360 discount. The Monaco/Premier were american motors leftovers that chrysler HAD to build due to buying out AMC for 5 years to satisfy contracts. They did not push these cars at all.
Man if Dodge and Chrysler had some cars like this today they would smash the competition. And do this America thing again. Today's leaders have a lot to learn from Mr. Lee Iacocca.
I agree. The present Chrysler people are just watching the company go down the drain, when instead they could be looking at their successful past to once again crush their hometown competitors.
But the Eagle Premier/Dodge Monaco made their debut that year and weren't successful. And the Premier/Monaco was probably the most sophisticated car in Chrysler's lineup. The Lancer and Lebaron GTS models were attractive alternatives, for the money.
I think I prefer the looks of the Lebaron GTS over the Premier/Monaco. Better profile and better proportions, but maybe not quite as modern. The GTS size, hatchback configuration, and "I wish I were a BMW" persona I like better. The Premier/Monaco basic shape was too much like a boxy version of the Taurus.
The Premier was a Renault design hence the front to back trans and engine, 3 ltr V6 with 150 HP and a fully electronically controled trans.,ABS brakes and good handling. But Chrysler had the Dynasty-Ney Yorker-Fifth Ave that looked similar but was outclassed by the high tech Eagle. Remember they used a Premier to test the powertrain of the newer LH series, because they copied the longitudinal eng-trans. layout.
Looking at their reliability record, and their rapid rusting it's a wonder how long Chrysler was able to sell the early front wheel drive models. The Valiant and Dart were the most reliable, reasonably fuel efficient and rugged Chrysler models ever made.
so are you saying you think these cars are reliable or junk?? personally i have always found k cars to be very reliable and have lasted for many years
If Chrysler's design theme for their sedans had been similar to that of their slick and sexy Lebaron coupe/convertible and equipped them with the 3.3L V6, they would have killed Taurus sales. Unfortunately these were too tiny with gruff 4cyl engines, so Taurus ruled the family sedan world
k cars were were the shit and I think they are still sweet!

@cardwellave Yes, like how to go on a spending spree the moment the company is in the black again. Well thought out, eh?

Unbeatable at the price....everyone should have bought one.Just a year later,Acclaim and Spirit debuted $3000 higher...not worth it.

I disagree. For the extra dough, you got a larger, better looking, and more sophisticated car. The K-cars were sorely outdated by '89.
