That's Eve Arden at 5:04- a real-life Ziegfeld girl who became a star! Long before "Our Miss Brooks" or "Grease" she was onstage in the Follies with Bob Hope and Josephine Baker in the 1930s!
The days when men were gentlemen and ladies were ladies. Such sumptuous costumes - divine! Nacio Herb Brown (composer) and such befitting lyrics by Gus Kahn. Sooooooooooooperb!
I loved this movie, but especially this part! No one comes down those stairs like Lana. She's so natural and confident! Love the end of the movie when she hears the song and walks down those stairs again. Wonderful movie.
Hedy and composer George Antheil came up with a mathematical and electronic method of shifting radio frequencys that is the basis of modern radio communications. They never made a dime although it was used in WW11. Beauty AND brains. They get little credit for this outside of the world of electronics.
Thanks Carlosman2 !!!! This film made such an impression on me when I was about 14 (in the 70's btw!)largely due to Lana Turner - the real deal *sigh* Now that is Hollywood ;o)
...and that is why I love movies from the 40's!!!!!!

Granted all these beauties are long gone (sad), but Tony is still here! A true survivor Mr. Martin!

This is classic Hollywood . True and natural beautiful women. This is the best arrangement for this song.

Glenn Miller definitely does the better version, but this is interesting, anyway.

That is TONY MARTIN who is singing, and a fine singer, who was superior to the light tenors today.
