I'm not sure who wrote the lyrics, but this song was popularized over 40 years ago by the Mexican band Sonora Santanera. They play a style of Cuban music called Son.
All - DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE SINGER IN PINK MARTINI'S LA SOLEDAD? I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT HIS NAME FOR OVER A MONTH TO NO AVAIL. THANKS!
the only thing that spoils a little bit the video is the constant focusin' but..... still a great vid it's really great with the symphony!!!. Thanks for post it!!!
I have the original version in my music and the song sounds like 40s or 50s, I think is the cha cha music that is cuban rhythm , but the song donde estas yolanda is mexican by la sonora santanera
Magnifique lyrisme musical. De l'émotion et de la chaleur. Un grand talent, de l'amour et ça donne Pink Martini. A côté de ces déchets du rap, ca fait plaisir. Le rap c'est de la diarhée verale accompagné de haine. Vive la vaie musique !!!
Of course! this song is very Peruvian.. I grew up listening to this, thanks to my dad ;} ha ha I love it! and I also love the Pink Martini version. these guys are great! I love China Forbes, her voice is amazing!
The original version of this song was performed by the peruvian singer RAMON AVILES, winner of a Music Festival in Sullana City (Perú) more than 30 years ago, I guess. !ARRIBA PERU! (Long Live Perú!)
Just came back from seeing Pink Martini in Carnegie Hall... they got a standing ovation. All I can say is WOW.... If you think they are good on a CD, you have no idea how much more amazing they are in person.
They poured their hearts and souls into this performance.. truly a work of love. The backup musicians are just amazing.... I think they are real risk takers. Most groups wouldn't have the nerve to try what they do and pull it off.
I was @ Carnegie Hall as well. Pink Martini is unbelievable; not merely because of China Forbe's extraordinary talent, but because of the entire band's musicianship. Seeing Pink Martini is like traveling to another place and time. Their music is TRANSCENDENT.
Unfortunately I saw them in concert in Bucharest, and they just did their job. Nothing more - maybe I expected too much and I had the expectations level quite high.
they've got the world on a string.
