I am 28 years old, healthy, was training for a 10K and took the pill for years. I was rushed to the ER last month with chest pains...I had a pulmonary embolism in each lung. I almost died. I would strongly urge young women to seek out alternative methods of birth control.

in terms of the patch and birth control - i think its up to the individual what they want to do. its about choices. something that was fought for long and hard in the 60's and 70's.
