  • good job chad! next time make sure you stir the malt extract as it drops down to the bottom so you don't scorch it .. that may have been where that bitter texture came from ? nice review jay!

  • @epicbeerdude it makes sence... glad you liked the review...

  • woo hoo 100 views...

  • Awesome work Chad.. I enjoyed the review.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • @mixcatcom cool. glad you did...

  • Chad gives out his lame first ever home brewed beer as a gift to others? What a douche. lol

  • @Ronlb3469 he did... i gave nothing so i guess that makes me worse ;)

  • @Ronlb3469 It wasn't meant to be a special Christmas gift, just a gift. Don't most homebrewers give away bottles to their friends and family? Or are they all just hoarders?

  • This had a crayola wax finish but you still gave it a score of good. Maybe you are biased.

  • @Brian7490 maybe he ate crayons as a kid and this is a fond flashback...? LOL

  • @Brian7490 trust me if the beer wasn't good. i would have said so... i thought he did a good job... i didn't taste that crayola waxy taste till that last sip... and i have had a few ipa's that have that waxy like taste. i think the sierra nevade torpedo i said that about as well.. that taste isn't something that would casue me to lower a score as it is probably caused by the oils from the hops.

  • Chad?

  • @BeerGeekNation yes?

  • Thanks for reviewing this. The name is meant to be a jab at marketing in general - how it's more hype and lies than the real thing.

The more I drink this the more it tastes like a red ale to me rather than an IPA. I'm surprised you didn't describe the flavor in a little more detail. That sharp, dry, tannic bitterness is probably from burning the LME when we were brewing it. We probably boiled the malts at too high a temp, too.

I'm happy with how it came out. It's definitely a good beer.

  • @ChadzBeerReviews no problem... it end up not being a great location to do a review. so i didn't go into detail as much as i wanted to... but thought gave enough to give people an idea what to expect.

  • Lol, I love using those Coke glasses to be honest. They work for me. I do have beer glasses. Dishes get dirty quick at my house. Lol. Cheers.

  • @grillmeasteak ha. it did end up being a decent glass for beer...

  • overly bitter? sounds good to me!

  • @glitch777 yeah the finish was just a bit to much... but like i said a very solid first beer for sure..

  • I would have to say that Chad did very well on his first homebrew. Very nice review.

    Cheers

  • @sjporr he did indeed...
