why did he tie up the D string to the headstock?

Can't say I know why but there's a way to restring which gives you like 7-8" of excess string from the tuning peg which isn't used. Weird he did it for just the D.

Maybe his D snapped before the show and this was a quick fix...?? Nonetheless this is an incredible piece.

Andrew's compositions are very mono no aware, an emotion Japan has a long history of recognizing and enjoying. There isn't a parallel in the west really.

I must agree with John. I saw Maestro York live tonight at Baruch College in NYC.  He played this piece early in the 1st set. General admission. I showed up early in 8 degree weather, got the front row, center. Experience of my life!
