  • what's the background song?

  • There you have it. This pedal sounds the same on the bypass signal as it does on every setting.

  • how does the ATTACK work on this pedal?

  • how does the ATTACK work on this pedal?

  • 1 = "Up-Kahm-press"

    2 = "Ahhh-smoooo" + Robotic arm karate chop upward motion

    3 = "The LED"

    4 = "The dyna-comp" OR Cool sound effect + Make his mouth move

    5 = "12 O'clock"

    6 = plays riff

    7 = plays same riff

    8 = plays same riff again

    9 = "Your dynamic compression"

    0 = Replay :P

  • @nuclearmass Why have you written that comment?

  • @stonerh Honestly I was really bored that day. Also I noticed that they used the same video and sound clip for each setting...

  • Just won a 1980's model on ebay! hope its a good one :)

  • is he blind?

  • I have to put this back in my chain. Love this pedal!

  • my rigs a dyna comp to a boss sustianer to a dime wahh...sooooo sexxy tone

  • I have one of these dyna comps up on ebay right now... Item number 300596298272

  • I think they missed the boat with the demo video. The Dyna Comp is a great tool when playing slide. It will help you hold a 'slide note' for quite a while. I didn't find it as useful for 'chicken pickin' unless you're looking for more of that 'click'' sound.

  • when i turn on gain on my amplifier, the dyna comp make a LOT of noise, is this usual, and what can i do to make it stop?

  • @97henrik yes, it's normal for a compressor pedal to do that. you can buy a hum debugger.

  • Proud to be the 19th person to give this the thumbs down.

  • 'stage ready LED' - as opposed to what? ;)

  • @jeperstone MXR didn't always have LED's on their pedals. Back in the '70's, the pedals just had a footswitch and controls. I'm pretty sure that was what the demo guy was refering to.

  • I got this compressor last week. Now my guitar signal feels like a black hole particle jet stream being injected into my dist pedal/amp. I wonder how the CSP202 custom comp compares to it. Anybody?

  • This seems like more of a demo of this guy's wanking skills than of the pedal. It would've been more useful to hear some kind of slower arpeggiated lines.

  • all the mods sound the same?

  • I don't know man, I admire the video work, but a reinvention isn't neccessary. We only heard a narrow field of how you can use the pedal, what is wrong with making it longer and showing other aspects?

    I have to give this a thumbs down. Reinvent your invention guys, you aimed high but missed your mark.

  • this reminds me of a Tim and Eric skit.

  • Overproduced much?

  • maaaaan cool down a little :D you're as hectic as a hummingbird on speed!

    but nice pedal ;)

  • Is a compressor important to get a Jazz tone?

    What are the three most important stompboxes for Jazz Playing?

  • @PF1964 i'd say, compressor, maybe a chorus, and maybe reverb/delay or if you like another modulation pedal like a phaser or a univibe

  • @PF1964 A lot of good jazz tone comes from the guitar itself. Hollowbodys and telecasters can produce some great jazzy tones. Teles aren't only good for country!. As far as pedals go, you should be sounding good with just a compression pedal and some subtle reverb. Hope this helps.

  • @PF1964

    To Just say Jazz tone is a little vague to say the least!

    Wes Montgomery , John Scofield Bill Frisell Mike Stern and Allan Holdsworth just to name a few all have VERY distinct sound and tone!

    The word Jazz means nothing really, it's just a stupid word.

  • My only complaint with this pedal is it boosts every bit of noise already coming from your amp. When I adjust settings to eliminate the noise I no longer get the effect. It could be that I'm an idiot, but I'm going back to my mxr micr amp.

  • @aladickes On the MXR I have, you'll see a pot under the inside of the pedal (where the 9v is)... when I adjusted this the noise that I was getting when maxing the output. I believe this is a filter that should either cut the 60hz hum and some other noise that could be coming though. By default mine was set at 12o'clock...

  • @aladickes get a noisegate?

  • If I play rhythm, it is easy to let things get too much tone, compared to the lead tone

    so will this pedal will create a balance between sound level?

  • wonder how this will sound with a gibson les paul on the bridge pickup

  • Its very hard to tell what this is really like for sustain since he clearly goes straight for the guitars volume pot when letting every note ring. So that voids this entire presentation as an unfair representation of the pedals sustaining abilities.

  • @skeletalwreck You are right!

  • Has anyone compared the Dynacomp m-102 to the csp-028 reissue? The m-102 goes for $70, the reissue goes for twice that.

    Is the reissue worth it?

  • hard to hear a difference in youtube demos due to the compression youtube puts on their videos.

  • Maybe I'm going deaf, but I just don't hear any difference in these examples.

  • Wow this video is well put out!

  • can this guy actually play single notes and do some bends till the note finishes to ACTUALLY see what the product can do. this was a bad demo. there wasnt much of a difference on the demos he did at the end except for the last one when he put it full blast. but i still think there are alot more better pedals other than this one.

  • If I use a noise gate pedal with it, will it reduce my sustain?

  • @fahadxile only if you have the noise gate set way too high

  • This or the super comp?

  • what settings on this can you get more sustain?

  • imho his demos suck cause he sets the main attention on his playing and the lics he plays are difficult for sure, but they dont show the effect itself very well

  • im so stuck. idk what pedal to get Dyna Comp or Super Comp.. does anyone here know the pros and cons of both? Any help is appreciated

  • yes, get that one

  • I know, i am a hard rock lead guitarist and I use one all the time because my stack has too much bass or too much highs and i need to cut it, i use the super comp though and I use it for sustain, great pedals both of em.

  • Can you really get the "smooth clean chords from '80s pop" from this one? In every review of compressors it's just country-things...

  • Wondering the same thing.

  • thanks fatty, good vid. only wheres the breakup coming from on the full sensitivity? is the amps set louder here? anywho - i like it im gettin one! do u like pizza?

  • how come in all compressor demos people act like its only useful in chickin pickin

  • think its just the best genre to demo it

  • I agree, I want to see how it is for adding sustain on solos. but they NEVER show that.

  • @skitheport Yeah, I know. I hate that. It's used in metal to add more gain and sustain.

  • @lobster272 It's used in metal, rock, sometimes in blues, on and on. Some people associate compressor pedals with a really squashed tone with no dynamics but that reallly only happens at the highest settings. Most people have it set up to beef up the tone and make the guitar more touch sensitive. My compressor is always on and I am able to get plenty of dynamics in my sound. At the same time, when I hit a chord, you hear every note and it gives my solos added life. I love compressors.

  • @SJP444 how it works in metal or rock? i would like to hear it, but all the videos are about chicken picking with almost clean guitars.

  • @TheShorty0ne Just listen to the master of puppets album... How everything sounds full and even...a lot of that is from good compression.

  • @TheShorty0ne I think that's the nature of the pedal, like the full bore metal will probably be used to play black Sabbath rather than yakety axe, each pedal has a reason and a type of music it was made for, although I use my boss sustain compressor with my mxr zak wylde, and it adds a bit of clarity to the tone.

  • @skitheport I agree. What the hell about trey anasasio from phish?!?!

  • Geewiz... why is it that everywhere I go somebody whether they know me or not always has got something to say to me?

  • I Started to lagh when he said "massive sustain".... xP

  • lol wtf

  • Comment removed

  • I must be tone deaf on this pedal. i couldnt tell the difference and I dont think i want my sound compressed. I like that loose distortion so i can hear my mistakes. Cool pedal, i cant use it though.

  • it works extremely well for lead tones as a boost

    works even better for recording thought, its fantastic.

    Much better than the shitty boss compressors that sound fake as.

  • may I ask why ?I have just the same problem..don't know what to choose(mxr or boss) and need to boost my guitar when I go on the solo..please help ! :D (explain if you can if it's useful to buy an eq for the same reason or not)thank you

  • lol the ventage one is a little more notice able

    but i know what you mean it's a pointless pedal unless someone really needs it

  • @godgirlsguitars

    i would watch the "all you need to know about guitar effects 2" video by the guys from licklibrary ( not on the lick library channel though but it is on youtube)

  • @godgirlsguitars u shouldnt hear the difference in the guitar tone!...compressor sustainer pedals should not colour ur tone AT ALL!...a good compressor pedal, when engaged, boosts the low signals frm ur guitar(low volume signals that is) and suppresses the high signals(vol again) so that ur guitar sounds even!

  • @smehtarocks when you push the sustain, you will also push your amp a bit, which causes a bit of drive in the tone..

    This is what can color your tone and I believe it's almost inevitable.

  • that was quite possibly the most helpless, stupid, and terrible demo I've ever seen. I've seen a lot. Facepalm to you, dunlop, for a demo that didn't suck would have been lovely. You're wetting my appetite for a better fucking demo.

  • I was hoping they'd demo that "Police" chimed chord setting. Bastards...

  • mxr stereo chorus can do it...its one of the settings on the card that comes in the box

  • that actually didnt help me much!

  • that's what she said

  • weird beard

  • a compressor can add some punchiness to metal riffing as well
