  • Something that really bothered me was at least the male shepard VA was 100% against the genophage the ENTIRE mordin loyalty mission, though based on the facts in the game I completely agree with Mordin. Every time I tried doing the paragon option (as the game punishes you for going neutral), I was constantly bad mouthing this awesome scientist. So much for having 'options'. I'm not blood thirsty/renegade, but I can also disapprove of a war hungy race growing too fast and unchecked.

  • Mordin was actually supposed to have the biotic field job in the SM. There's unused clips on youtube if you search

  • "what race did mordin destroid? We know it's not the krogan, in fact we never get to find out!"

really? Are you really serious or you are just trying to sound dumb? First, it's a trailer and they are inaccurate. Anyway, in the trailer, Mordin feels like he helped to destroy the krogans, dosn't matter if they were really destroid or if he really had a participation in that. It's Mordin saying what he feel, in a TRAILER.

  • @LeandroBraz23

Exactly. The marketing was wrong. Since you just stated that, why are you sounding dumb?

  • @smudboy You need to see more trailers. They are always wrong. If I start to make a video for every trailer I find with that kind of thing, I will stop living just to do that, cause it is common, it's a feature of this kind of marketing. What you did there is just you beeing cranky..

  • @LeandroBraz23

So? It's still wrong. They lied. Simple as that.

  • @smudboy well, start crying baby, life is cruel...

  • @LeandroBraz23

Not crying. Just pointing out. Don't like it? Stop posting, please.

  • Thanks for the B5 clip!

  • what's the music being played around the 0:30 mark?

  • If I ever need a writer, you're high on my list.

  • so the whole game sucks but mordin is awesome. ok doesnt make a lick of since why even bother playing the game

  • @TheSteelersfan40

Mordin is awesome, as are other characters. Mordin however is the only side character that advances the plot, and thus integral to it.

  • @TheSteelersfan40 He dosent HATE the game, hes just anylising the plot holes. He's never said the game sucks.

  • Well, the his race used the Krogan to annihilate the Rachni. Maybe he was talking about that?

  • I guess I'm just kind of dumb....hence, part of the reason for my screenname XD.

But I don't really understand why Mordin is the only "plot-relevant" character. Shepard....isn't?

  • @xxInternetIdiot90xx

Mordin creates a countermeasure that allows the plot to continue (Horizon.)

Shepard does nothing that causes the plot to continue.

  • @smudboy I'm not sure I understand. When you say he does nothing to make the plot continue, do you mean that the story would be able to continue if he were to be taken out of it completely? I was kinda under the impression that he's the focal point of everything in Mass Effect, the person who brings together everyone else, including Mordin. And the only person who can protect the galaxy. And everyone wants to sleep with him. And he is the player character. The hero. Or did you mean another thing

  • @xxInternetIdiot90xx

By virtue of being a protagonist means they're a walking plot device. But Shepard as a character is not relevant to the plot. Anyone can be the protagonist and the plot would go along just fine.

In ME1 Shepard is an active protagonist and has his Prothean visions/cipher that allow them to get to Ilos. In ME2, Shepard has nothing going for them, poor exposition, and no reason to be here aside from being grandfathered.

  • @smudboy How is he any less of a character in ME2? He is still the one leading the team, helping everyone overcome their problems so they can fight, and stressed as being the only person who can pull off an operation of such magnitude. I don't think it would work as well if it was Jacob as the protagonist, or Anderson. Thanks for answering all my questions and such, by the way.

  • @xxInternetIdiot90xx

By virtue of being the leader/protagonist, sure. But not as the character Shepard. Granted, Shepard does express worry//hope/frustration in LotSB over the overarching plot, but nothing about their character, personality, temperament or "Shepardness" is relevant nor tested. One might argue only Tali would follow Shepard, but that's a subplot.

It would work with Jacob, Anderson, etc., because Shepard does nothing that anyone of any reasonable competence could.

  • @smudboy Ah, now I see. Well, I guess I can understand that, though I think Shepard has as much personality as can be written in for a character whose actions and responses can vary widely depending on what the player chooses. I would like to see something along the lines of what you're talking about being given more detail in Mass Effect 3, though. Kind of like how in the first game, there were missions about dealing with Shepard's past, and you learned a little more about him as a result.

  • you don't like this game do you?

  • damnit...now I won't look a Mordin without thinking about Earthworm Jim....thanks man.

    great analysis, as usual. :)

  • About Mordin unlocking engineering: it's mentioned (on his bio if you try to pick him for the tunnels on the suicide mission, I think) that Mordin is a genius in virtually all sciences, including technology. It's just that he specializes in biology and medicine. It's like if an Olympic athlete won gold in swimming but silver in boxing. He's still a good boxer, he's just a better swimmer.

  • @DoctorPorkenfries

That sounds about right. He's good, but he's a Specialist first and foremost. He's mainly there for Biological stuff (though his presence sorta makes Chakwas obsolete), so it makes sense that Tali, Legion and (strangely enough) Kasumi can do Hacking a bit better (or at least, fast enough and under stress).

  • @hanzo661 Kasumi being a master hacker isn't strange. She makes a living stealing valuable pieces of art from museums and other high-security places around the galaxy. She'd have to be able to hack any given system quickly and easily to pull that off.

  • @DoctorPorkenfries

Yeah, that I guess I can agree with.

  • @DoctorPorkenfries

kasumi is only familiar with security systems used by galactic society, there's nothing in her background that would make her proficient at hacking anything in the collector base. legion and tali make more sense because he's an adaptable robot with unrivaled powers of calculation, and she's an engineer from a race accustomed to advanced ais and computers.

  • @zzxcvb98 When Shepherd and co first went into the Collector Ship, EDI hacked into it and started taking control of stuff. In all liklihood, EDI made the Collector tech info available to the rest of the crew so they could prepare to use it again as necessary.

  • mordin's loyalty mission also explains that humans are the most genetically diverse, giving the collecters a viable reason for abducting colonies

  • Yes, Mordin is the best character, and is the most badass scientist since Gordon Freeman.
