  • What kind of phone is that at :19 ? I doesn't look like an American phone.

  • @stopthemachine Hey it is a Leich desk/wall phone that clould either be hung on the wall or placed on a desk. I have a couple of them and they are pretty neat.

  • I Believe This Was "Texas" Video Open From August 4, 1980, Right?

  • This was way before I was born but a state of Texas being a soap opera what was that about?

  • i hated texas it was not that good to me

  • RIP. Beverlee McKinsey. One of the greatest soap actresses in daytime. Even LOVED her as Alexandra Spaulding!!!! on GL!!!

  • Can I see episodes of EDGE OF NIGHT and SEARCH FOR TOMORROW on AOL too??

  • Yes, they're both on there (AOL)

  • rest in peace iris cory wheeler carrington

  • does anybody have the secvond Texas opening? after Beverley Mckinsey left? I think it was dubbed Texas, the Next Generation

  • That's the one I want to see too! It was such a good opening theme.

  • Procter & Gamble has made several of its cancelled soaps, including Texas, available for free on-line at AOL Video. Check out

    video "dot" aol "dot" com/video-category/texas/1921

  • Sadly I can't get the videos to load on AOL, which sucks because Texas was my favorite soap and I would love to see it again. Not sure if it's because I am in Canada or not? Would love it if anyone could up some clips on here.

  • It's great to meet another Texas fan from Canada. Please check out an active fan site at "triple w" "dot" awfan4ever1975"dot"yuku"dot"com/forums/86

The direct links to episodes are posted here.

  • so was the show cancelled because beverlee left or cause it never caught on (due to the obvious "dallas" rip off look of it?) from what i can see on here i like it...i think had i been old enough to follow it at the time it would have been one of my favs! :)

  • It was a bit of both. Beverlee McKinsey had a huge fan base and a lot of those viewers checked out when she did. The writing was weak when the show first started out, which was a shame as the acting, for the most part, was top knotch. With numerous writing changes, characters came and went. Strangely enough, the show gelled after Beverlee McKinsey left and when Pamela Long (she played Ashley Marshall) took over as head writer.

  • Thats interesting...i really wish i had gotten to see it. Looks like it would have been my kinda show. 80's Camp and over the topness! :) So how did it end? Did any of the characters cross back over to "AW"? And Pam Long, that name sounds familiar, didn't she go on to write at "DAYS" or "GL"?

  • @GETOSUPASTAR Also, both time slots it had hurt it. When Texas debuted, it aired against GH (which was in ratings heaven back then), later on, NBC moved it to mornings (against The Price is Right) which got it away from GH but nothing could match TPIR in it's timeslot (except The View much later on). Plus several affiliates (including mine) didn't carry the whole series, which kept even more viewers away. Hard to believe it's been *30 years* since the debut of Texas.

  • On January 1, 2009, Procter & Gamble (a.k.a. Telenext Productions) announced that it was discontinuing the webcasts of Texas on AOL Video. Two fans are keeping Texas clips alive on You Tube. Check out the postings of hfxmusicman and cfs89. Procter & Gamble has indicated it is searching for a new home to continue presenting these precious holdings.

  • Thanks for that. I hope they will find a new home eventually, all those classic soaps yanked :(

  • The theme was a rip-off of "I Can See Clearly Now.." Its replacement was far better. Paul Rauch had very bad taste when it came to selecting opening music.

  • I'm still looking for the other opening Texas theme. It was a stronger, more sweeping theme. Loved it.

  • Yeah, I remember a totally different theme....assertive bounce between prime note and major 6th....different graphics.

  • I have to disagree. I think P&G soaps still have but dont know they do. ATWT is good but can be better and GL is slowly getting to be good. Both shows just needs some writers that listen to what the fans want. Now ABC soaps are the ones that are horrible as of late.

  • Texas was, after it found its' footing, actual a great show. The last year under the helm of Pam Long, who went on to great success at Guidign Light, was great, creative soap opera. Later, both Iris Cory Carrington Wheeler and her son, Dennis Wheeler, woudld return to parent show Another World's Bay City.

  • Totally agree. Pam Long (and EP, Gail Kobe) really whipped that show into shape. I was so disappointed when it was cancelled.

  • Gail Kobe was taken from Texas (after its demise) to helm Guiding Light. She brought several Texas actors and production personel and transformed GL. It is the sister soap in the sense that they are both P&G.

God help P&G nowadays. They soon won't have any soaps at all. its a shame!

  • This was a show that was a vehicle for Beverly McKinsey who was at the time one of Soap's biggest actresses. Many of the "Texas" Graduates would end up on either Another World or Guiding Light

  • It is hard to imagine that it was this failure of a show that led sister soap 'Guiding Light' on its long road to ruin.

  • Another World was its sister soap, since it was a spinoff from that show & both on NBC.

  • Could this possibly be a bigger rip-off of Dallas?

  • It was actually supposed to have been created as a civil war period piece, called Reunion, but it was revamped to what it was due to the success of Dallas. It was done as such to insure that it would go to prime-time should it had become successful, but it didn't.
