You could love the twin Digic processors in the higher end Canons... you can get photos without interrupting the video with those :) I'm addicted and want one now!
You always want to be there 30 minuts before Sunrise and or Sunset, this allows you time to adjust the camera settings for diffrent tones/contrast etc,, you can get better tones by changeing the EV or the light adjustment to darker or lighter, or you can use filters,, :)
It's not a good idea to capture one footage with more than 5 minutes length (continuously). I usually capture videos from 30-120 seconds and edit them, joining them into one file so that it's not boring
yes i can agree, but this was my first vid, and i was getting the full feel of being there in one take, editing is another chapter that wasent planed :) cheers,,
on my 16gb you can do 48.20 minutes ( 1920 Res )HD video or on normal SD mode at 179.25 minutes! (640 Res) ive herd that there is a cap for so many minutes on HD mode but you can still record again after, but i havent ran it any more that 5 mins i gess on HD, but there is a Canon Camera Hack that can by pass it etc,,
A comparison of the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS vs the Canon PowerShot SX20 IS. ... 128 x 88 x 88 mm, vs, 128 x 88 x 87 mm, They are approximately the same size ...
maybe on SD video mode but i herd on HD mode there was a cap at 15 mins i think, but you can still record again after that, must be a processing thing i gess,,
@KingGillyMan i think its the overheating issue and the FAT format of the SD cards that prevents you from recording over 4 gigs or 12 minutes straight. I have hard time recording live events/recitals with just one SX-1. I ended getting the Canon T2i to bounce back and forth with different angles to keep cameras from over-heating.
@JoeStyle8 ahaaha how ironic!! i just got me the Canon 550d Ti2 3 weeks ago!! :) but i think the video runs better on the SX1 IS than the 550d, the 550d seems not handleing the panning in free hand, like haven shutter lag,, do u know why??? the SX1 is better, and dosent have that problem,,
at screan 640x480 video quility 184 minuts! and 26 seconds! on a 16gb card, and on HD setting 1920x 49 minuts and 9 seconds! on a 16gb card, if you have the 4gb card, just hafe what i got here and hafe it again :)
I was thinking about getting this camera and so far it looks really good. I have a pc with windows xp and I need something to edit my video if I want to make a movie. Cause the video format is .mov which is for apple computers. Do you know the best thing to get?
Yes, for windows, download Media Player Clasic "NOT! Media Player" and then download a Codec called ( K-Lite Codec Pack ) then go into media player and change a cople settings and away she goes!! :)
whoohhhH!!!!!! there big!!! in HD mode, so u need a big hard drive! heres an example of one of mine!,, 480mb HD vid at 1 minut 34 seconds! where i compressed it useing i think Prisum video converter or V-downloader and came to 61.5mb :)
you can do it on a 4 Gig SDHC but the higer the qulity of the card or higher lever/Class of the card, like 1,2,3,4 or standard , platnium, Gold the better/smoothness of the video, i have a 16gb platnuim class 60x class 2 card, i couldent aford the next level, and to make it run in HD properly i use Media Player Clasic with A Codec and 1-2 settings you can make video run smooth!! :)
Very striking. Love it!

@KingGillyMan I don't notice much the rolling shutter here, maybe things are going a bit too fast to notice. Check it out!

@KingGillyMan if you insert short 6 second cut aways or b rolls with that long shot, it would be nice. keep the audio of that lenghty shot.

I use the K-lite Mega Codec pack with Media Player Classic Player
After installing K-Lite with default settings, configure the media player classic like so:
(make sure to set Media Player Classic the default APP for .MOV files)
1- go to View/Option
2- Go to Player panel and Format
3- Select "Quicktime file" and change the mode from quicktime to directshow (click on "quicktime" on the right)
4- Go to "Internal Filter" panel, make sure that H264/AVC (DXVA) is checked on the right side
