You're so helpful, Slim! One more thing about the CX12: How responsive is it? Based on this wonderful clip, which you so kindly uploaded, it seems very responsive: Pete seems to just glide right along that mouthpiece without barely touching it; I have a Super Chromonica 270 and I find it hard to play smoothly in the lower register -- the bottom notes are not responsive and never have been.
@landztranz It's very responsive. Generally speaking, the lower register requires more getting used to on any harmonica. Don't expect to be able to approach every note the same way, and your 270 may need some adjustments (gapping, windsavers, etc...) which are often best done by a pro harmonica tech (like Steve Malerbi) if you want the best possible playing experience. As for Pete making it look easy, he's been playing like crazy for 75 years or so... that helps ;-).
@landztranz It is preferred by some. I prefer it for live gigs, as it is extremely road worthy and easy to maintain. Toots usually plays a Toots mellow-tone, Stevie usually plays a Super 64x or one of the high end Suzukis, Gregoire plays the Suzuki G48 (named for him), Just at the 2009 jazz harmonica summit alone, there were CX12 (3 of 'em), 270, Super 64, Super 64x, CBH 2016, CBH 2012, and Ilius Renaissance. It can be hard to generalize ;-).
I love this video , some swingin'Swing , a swing medley that makes you wanna dance ,as a player of a minor jazz instrument(the recorder) I can't say that our fellow recorderists have achieved this kind of swing
Great Job on the Jazz Harmonica Summit Slim!.. ..wonderful backing musicians, nice and tight. It's great to see Pete Blasberg in his element and looking happy, playing well. Great stuff! If the rest of it is as good, it'll be a heckuva DVD. What a neat jazz lead in to Jason's pre-SPAH blow-off and then SPAH itself. Wish I'd had a way of getting there, but the DVD will be great for those of us who couldn't. Kudos!
Hi Elizabeth! I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that the rest of it is not only as good, but you will love the diversity of playing styles and techniques. I hope to be able to post more segments soon.... Great to hear from you! - Slim.
Slim...looks like a wonderful project as I suspected. Killer band, great visuals, wonderful sound and PETE swingin' like a 35 year old!!!!! Kudos Pete and Slim
Big Pete......I'm goin' home and stayin' home after hearing this! Great playing from a younger punk jazz player that you know well! Just keep it going.
Phil, my man, you may be younger than Pete (isn't just about everyone?) but are certainly no punk when it comes to your amazing harmonica chops. Hope to see you this summer as usual.... - Slim.
Slight correction: The bottom notes on my 270 are pretty responsive only when the harmonica is real warmed up.

@SlimHeilpern That seems to be the preferred axe among jazz chromatic players...or am I wrong?
