@Dmasterman No, but it was done in anime style, and in anime, Asians are portrayed as blonde all the time even though it's not natural. Other than it just being a Japanese property, I don't see any reason to assume they have any Japanese blood in them. They have a Chinese name, practice a Chinese art, and live in the United States after an apocalyptic event. Sounds Chinese-American to me.

According to the Double Dragon Dojo (biggest Double Dragon fan site in the net), the official bio given for Billy in the original arcade opens with: "Heir to the Chinese martial art, Sou Setsu Ken." It's based on Jeet Kune Do (in Japanese, "Sekken Do" or "Setsu Ken Do"), which is a street fighting style which inspired concepts similar to modern mixed martial arts, but storyline-wise, it's a Chinese kung fu style.

This already looks way better than the official Double Dragon movie. That may not sound like much, but it simply proves that the only reason most video game-based movies fail has less to do with the source material and more to do with the producers themselves, who lack the needed appreciation and grasp for the characters to do a proper film adaptation.
