SONNY OKOSUN is sending a message that the Muslims and Christians should stop killing their selves...that its about time Nigerians Unite "GOODLUCK JONATHAN"
I remember when this song first came out. It was rumoured that he had converted to Islam, until he told Prime People (remember that magazine?) "I sing for money, not Allah". Muslims in Nigeria were really offended at the time.
I very much suspect this was done before he became a Christian. Sometimes we may need to test other religions to find out the truth. And he did, he found Christ!
@wowmigsih he was never a Muslim. He did this song to celebrate our Muslim brethren in Nigeria. Okosun was very inclusive. And there is nothing wrong with being a Muslim. There are good and bad Muslims as well as in Christians. Salvation is attained not solely based on religion but how you lived your life. All Muslims are not terrorists and all Christians are not child molesters.
Shameful to see how you claiming to be christians are disgracing christ with ur bigotry, judgemental and spiritually arrogant comments.

Well said! My point which was incompletely expressed is this: All religion has enough idiot hypocrites whose behavior soils it. So I simply do not deal with religion, esp organized religion. It is a corrupted cesspool. just deal with god himself and you can't go wrong.

No, he was not being "diverse" with religion. This song was created before he became a born again Christian in 1994. He gave his life to Jesus, and then made wonderful Christian worship music the rest of his life. He's dancing and singing with Jesus now!
i think with this video, he was just trying to let us know that no matter what religion you are, there's only one God that exists and thats whom we serve. so whether it is islam or xtianity, theres only one God. and thats whom we serve. a very extraordinary man.
Sunny Okosun was so diverse and appreciative of the diversity he grew up with that he endeavored in his music to accommodate this diversity. This is reflected in this song dedicated to our brothers of the Islamic faith. God who called so young knows best and may his soul rest in the bossom of Abraham. Requiescat in pace. Amen.
Sonny Okosun was a great musicician and may his soul rest in peace. I still however remain sceptical as to how a deepply religious and born again christian can record in a song glorifying another religion except for the purposes of personal agrandisement or to curry favour from influential moslems of the time like MKO Abiola for example of whom Sonny Okosun was an avid supporter. Still the history of Nigerian music will be definitely incomplete without mention of the great Sonny Okosun.

Your Dad was a great Nigerian. He was a rallying figure. His music was entrenched in unity and oneness of all Nigerians. This track "Mohammed" is quintessential Okosun. It is an example of what Okosun stood for. He was a musician per excellent. I didn't know him personally, but I grew up listening to his beautiful renditions. Take heart my brother. Your Dad is already in heaven watching over his family and the Nigeria he loved so dearly.
