He really took a lot of pride in preserving this skill from the old folkways. I wish the government had not treated him so badly. Of course now you can get it legally, but I think the whole thing about Popcorn was the fact that he was preserving the methods of home distilling. When this skill is lost we'll only have these videos.

I'm currently assembling a second film about Popcorn, but its hold as I finish another film about the Core Sound watermen. After all that I will try to publicly all archive all footage, but thats probably going to take a while...
If the government had any vision at all we could have had a secret store of this alcohol, that could have gotten us threw lean times when oil was difficult to get. But no the government choose to put people in jail, rather then using them, and hiring them to make this backup source of fuel! And now they are talking about bio-fuels, these guys were making it since the 1800's, if it had been stored away since it never goes bad, we would have trillion of gallons by now!
@proverb311031 our govt was bought by the US oil companies.
back in the 1910-36 there were stands where people sold ethanol as a fuel in the south and midwest , up north oil competed with steam and gassifiers.
one day the oil companies decided to bury the us ethanol production by selling oil for less than it was worth for a number of years. that combined with prohibition doomed ethanol
@proverb311031 ACTUALLY, it does go bad after a month or two. Thats why you cant store it or gasoline anylonger than that. so you'll have to come up with some other theory there, your proverbial brilliance. btw......Pop-Corn says "FUCK YOU!"
