  • Hello Im a mechanic for the Mata street car system here in Dallas and I just want to know what powers this as I see no over head wires.

  • The trolley uses a pair of 3/4 horse Applied Magnetics electric motors, one for each truck. One to four 12v automobile batteries are located under the seats. The vehicle uses contactors (automobile starter solinoids) for speed regulation. In the video the train is operating on one 12 v car battery. It runs for hours before requiring a recharge. The batteries and charger are located under the bench seats.

  • Our previous vehicle at an earlier home was made of hardwood as was the trolleys that my father manufactured for "kiddie lands" during the 1950s. The trolleys had gongs and other ornamentation. Dad built this one out of channel iron, steel and some plywood. It was never finished, adorned with the niceties of the previous. Should you wish to write Bob, email me at kfss@socal.rr.com and I will pass on your email to him.
