If you want something more contemporary, go for Armchair Apocrypha (My personal favorite) or The Mysterious Production Of Eggs.

If you want a very cool trip back to 30's and 40's music, go with Oh! The Grandeur. It was released under "Andrew Bird's Bowl Of Fire", which usually has a very jazzy, big band sound.

In my opinion his entire discography is outstanding, but these are my favorites.
