Vanessa had cut her hair. She taped one eppy with the short hair and then the producers decided they wanted Brenda to cut her hair later in the story. You'll see in the next clip Vanessa is wearing a wig. She wears hair pieces until the scene where Brenda cuts her own hair.

I remember Vanessa talking about it in one of the magazine interviews a long time ago.

Yes, and then Brenda has to claim that the SHORT hair was a wig. I hated that wig/extension, they were so obvious.
