  • Paul, awos oll an Kernowyon meur ras, meur ras.

  • It definitely needed this treatment.

  • I wonder if my grandmother would approve of this version ;>)

  • the orses stood still ..the wheels went around..going up camborn ill coming down...init

  • Lovely! Heart-warming to us Cornish.

  • oh the good ole days with the hills family .......xxxx

  • Sadly sounds like Status Quo.

Not a patch on the version some friends and I sang one drunken night in Callella in 1980. OMG, 30 years ago!!

  • Truly awful.

Have you tried growing your hair long like Michael Bolton?

Jeez that guitar riff really p1sses me off - did you sample that from an early 90's 'Top-heavy tarts' VHS?

Wake-up mate it's 2009, Kernow deserves better than this sh1te..

  • I've ammended wiki!- and added a missing verse.

    Kernow Bys Vyken!

  • Cornwall rules!

  • my mum cousin is the singer in this song (y)

  • ga55fish you be from west Cornwall me 'andsome.

  • It's not "go-in" up, it's "goyne" up. One syllable. It's not down as in "dhow" and, as far as I was taught, father (pr. more like "feather") "blawed" in the band.

  • What next -- an RnB version of lamorna??

    Maybe :-)

  • i admire him for trying, but unfortunatley it just doesnt compare to the traditional version! What next -- an RnB version of lamorna??

  • proper job u

  • this is awesome,

  • this is bad ass

  • I prefer the orignal ne, then I do like things traditional and don't welcome change in events like this. Cause' im stuck up lol.

But I live in camborne ad every year it gets better as you can aprexiate it more. If only they didnt have it just on saturdays so I could miss school :( lol still, My family owned a traction engine and ran it through here once, but it broke down and we had to get another one to pull us back. when we were halfway down the hill there was a massive bang (?)but it worked

  • Graham Hart means well.

  • I'm another from Camborne, although I moved away 3 years ago. I also remember Trevithick day when I smell candifloss, or steam engines (yes the smell of them). Miss it sooo much. I used to live above the pet shop...opposite Mr Munch, so saw it briliantly. xxx

  • hey i no the guy at 1:40!! lol

  • yay a home song i live in camborne its lush this avent thats going on is trervithik day in memory of ritcherd thrithik who invented the first steam engien and theres not only steam engens but lots of stuff like roller coasters and sweets but most of the shops are closed lol

  • i live in camborne too, and wenever i smell candyfloss it reminds me of trevithik day!! lol

  • um, im from camborne too and sorry to burst your buble he didnt invent the first steam engine, someoneelse did way before, bt he did invent the first steam locomotive which was extremely usful, even to this day with out his help mordern trains would not be here.

  • and he invented high pressure steam, among other things very smart Cornsihmen

  • Cornsihmen???

  • I think there is a plaque in Tehidy Road - google 'duchy eu' or 'Cornish Fighting Fund' for the truth about Cornwall !

  • WE AINT ENGLAND, WE IS KERNOW! lol, Kernewek people own!

  • I've looked on Wikipedia and it says it's the hill leading to Beacon, i guess that's why the statue of Richard Trevithick is facing that way. Makes sense.

  • Kernowmitch,, Im afraid wikipedia ie wrong,,,CAMBORNE HILL runs from Tehidy road right up to Commercial Street/Trelowarren Street the junction by HSBC bank,,,and theres a Plaque on the wall part way down fore St./Camborne Hll depicting the fact....someone needs to update Wikipedia..

    Beachloaf

    Cornwall.

  • I'm a bit of a traditionalist, but i have to say the tune works really well, not saying it's better but it is a good refreshing mix well done. Now, i'm not being critical, just adding a fact. the engines are going up East Hill in Tuckingmill at the end of the video, i believe the Camborne hill in the song is from the Library and up the hill towards Beacon. Please correct me if i'm wrong as i'm not sure. Nice to see though as i don't live in Camborne anymore, try to get down for Trevithick Day.

  • Your correct, it was East Hill in Tuckingmill. As far as I am aware Camborne Hill starts from Tehidy Road Post Office towards enys rd.

  • Why is it that there is always a ridiculous debate about Cornish nationalism whenever I try to search for interesting forums in Cornwall. If it's not Cornish 'racial' purity it's the ridiculous view that everyone across the Tamar is 'in-bred'.

Is it the same small group of people that suffer from this total lack of imagination and depth to their personalities? Please, whatever flag sets your pulse racing (God help us!) can we please have some intelligent debate? Oh and spelling!

  • My Grandads old rollers in betwenn 1.09 and 1.26 wasnt called lady gwen when he had it

  • i know the guy at 1:43

  • best day of the year! apart frm this year it was kind of like pool market had moved into camborne! still good thow! i can smell the mix between candyfloss and steam engines now!

  • Lovely to see and hear. Trevithick day in Camborne? Graham Hart plays in the square on Trevithick day. It was great to hear this makes me think of my dear Dad singing in the car. Graham Hart does a great song called 'This one's for the boys' With the hreat line 'Take me home to Cornwall'. Well worth a listen!

  • Tid'n "Going up Camborne Hill Coming Down". Tiz. "Gwain up Camburne Heel Cumun Down".. Either way tiz a rollocking gud song. Well done Paul..

  • Loved it! Love steam engines and the music was great.

  • Great vehicles Paul, and great to see that they're still well looked after and in good working order!

  • wow.Neat train!

  • Great one, Paul! This time you really did it justice...

  • They are fantastic machinery.

  • so nice to see a peak from the past. Interesting to see these old steam rollers on today's streets. thanks for the video, Paul.

  • wow! those are some funky machines! what would it have been like to live back in the time when these were the standard?

  • Very cool... Gotta love that old iron.

  • I love the song, and this is a fascinating collection of steamers. It's as if the song and the vid were made for each other.

  • Don't think I ever saw anything like that in the states. Just when you think you've seen just about everything traveling down a street. Thanks for the peek.

  • Paul, you have the most interesting videos! Fun stuff.

  • I wanted this song when I first uploaded this video, but couldn't find it anywhere, then I saw Graham, the guy who sung it today and asked him about it, he emailed it to me and gave permision for me to use the song, Camborne is the town where I filmed the steam engines
