  • I have a cracked screen. What is everything I would need to buy to replace it, and is there a video on how to put it back together?

  • @Votrov We currently only have the disassembly video. Check out RepairsUniverse (dot) com for a full list of recommended tools and all of our replacement parts for the G2X.

  • @Votrov Lol you made me laugh. I'm not being mean but really if you love your phone as much as I do to try and get it working again. Simple keep playing everything in the video in reverse! You'll have your phone back up like new!

  • So I got my phone repaired by a repair shop around here but there are issues with the digitizer - the lower right corner is very insensitive and the lower left corner sometimes generates a touch on the right side, as if I was touching it. Typing is hell now. The repair shop says "that's simply the way it is with OEM parts". Is that true? Do you know about these issues?

  • @ultranol1983 Not at all. I would say its either a faulty digitizer or the touch screen is coming in contact with the LCD screen, causing the sensors to believe you are touching somewhere you are not. A great way to disprove that claim is that the OEM screen did not do that originally.

  • @RepairsUniverse If I get a refund I'll buy your parts and try to do it by myself. thanks for always being helpful!

  • @ultranol1983 No problem at all. Good luck!

  • I have an issue with the power button, it seems like its not working. Since I am hesitant to open my phone, could you please tell me whether the switch is easily accessible and fixable? I am debating between thinking that the switch itself is broken (not causing a short of some sort) or whether the place the switch is connected to the motherboard is broken?

  • @sudeepr71 Should be simple enough to check. You would only need to follow this video up to about 1:25 or so to gain access to the power button flex. From there you should be able to determine the issues easily.

  • When you remove the digitizer and put in a new one, do you need to glue that as well? =( im confused...

  • @CuexThexViolins Yes, new adhesive is suggested. Check out our "Touch Screen Assembly Video", this will show the process of applying fresh adhesive.

  • I followed this video, and did not have any heat source available to heat the adhesive up. I managed to get the lcd and digitizer separated eventually. I'm afraid now I've damaged the lcd screen because when I turn it on, it only displays fuzzy static looking stuff. The bottom buttons light up and I can feel it vibrating from notifications when I let it boot into the OS.

    Any help?

  • @atlnicca23 Sounds very possible the LCD was damaged, however I would double check the LCD flex cables connection to the motherboard. It is possible it is just a loose connection (unlikely, but worth a try). If the connection appears fine, then the LCD screen has likely been damaged and will need to be replaced. Replacements are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • What is seen here at the end of this video you have two screens I believe? Is the touch screen digitizer the screen on left or right? And would the touch screen digitizer be removed with the same process as removing the the LCD screen, which is by using heat?

  • @F34RRmonGER Correct, the touch screen digitizer is located on the right at the end of the video. It is attached to the housing which is held in place by adhesive. Simply heat the adhesive and it will pop right out.

  • The video stops short of taking the glass out of the actual frame. Mine won't come out. Any thoughts?

  • @Themattywayne Heat is the most important step. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the outside edges of the digitizer. Use quick movements and don't stay on one place too long. It may take several times heating up to get the digitizer from the frame, just work slowly and you should have no issues. Use a pry tool and slowly work around the edge of the digitizer.

  • @RepairsUniverse How does the glass sticks to the frame ? Do you sell some glue that does it ?

  • @Thorvin84 Yes, we use adhesive strips which work great for this. It is available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Just finished using this video to replace my screen. Thanx! Very useful. I had a small problem with the adhesive glue but I contacted your live support on your chat and they helped me!

  • @Dasher2k6 Great to hear! Glad the video and our live chat support were able to help you make your repair!

  • When I open mine, the lcd screen is attached to the digitizer, not like your video where the lcd screen sits on the casing while the digitizer has nothing attached to it... do you recommend me just simply "pry" the lcd screen from the digitizer (in a careful manner of course)? Or is there another way that you didn't show in the video?

  • @buru898 Same with mine, I'd like to know too.

  • @redthunda69 Pretty much what I said that I was going to do; just gently pry apart the lcd screen from the digitizer. I think there was a little bit of tape/glue only on the top part of the lcd screen that was making it stick to the digitizer.

You don't need to do it hard and it'll come apart pretty easily :). Help I helped. Reply back and I'll try and give more details.

  • @buru898 Thanks for the quick response! So did you just seat it normally like in the video after you were finished, or did you re-adhere it?

  • @redthunda69 Heh push notifications ;p.

Oh after I replaced the digitizer I just gently place the lcd screen on the new digitizer and didn't use any extra glue or tape. It stays put after you put everything back together. I noticed little white specs from dirt or dust and constantly took it off to clean it lol.

But you should be good. No need to add anything to the screen since it sits really secure in the digitizer :).

  • @buru898 Just finished it! Worked like a charm. My thanks to you and repairsuniverse!!!

  • @buru898 I know this is a little late, but you have to heat the screen with a blow dyer. When the glue heats up it comes off pretty easily.

  • @nmzj I thought so too, but the screen just easily came off from the digitizer with very little pressure. Don't know if that applies for all phones, but mine was never previously opened and I'm glad I didn't have to use a blow dryer :).

  • i have 0 experience with being a phone technician.. i followed the video and changing my screen was a 100% success! Thanks

  • @ryryee No problem at all! Great work, the G2X is a surprisingly simple design, we love LG for that.

  • Great video I performed a screen replacement on my g2x it all worked smoothly however the phone will not respond to when I touch it. Any suggestions?

  • @HERBiNG1212 Usually this is just a connection issue. Make sure the touch screen flex cable is not damaged and fully seated into the connector.

  • Nice video!!! just repair my LG G2X cracked screen... Thanks a bunch

  • @autotradeking No problem! Great work!

  • Thanks!!!!!

  • @viperarc No problem, glad you found the video useful!

  • RepairsUniverse you're the best! keep up the great work.

  • @mannyb332211 Thank you, and we shall! Many more videos on the way!
