good day bro! seems that you are using diffrent kinds of pastel, can you tell me what are they called and the brand that you are using. Thanks for the video.
@GerardMin wow!! you actually make your own pastel, can you make a video on how to make pastel, I mean if you can give us your secrete!! hehehe!!! Thanks!!
hello i would like to ask your using a soft pastel for this? and i would like to ask if the finishing black color you used is a pastel black for the hair or the charcoal pencil?
This is amazing. When you did her eyes, I sort of felt something amiss in her hair! But, you did her hair wonderfully later! I was highly impressed by the way you did her hair! Can you please tell me which types of 'off-the-shelf' pastels can we use in place of your home made pastels which can give the desired effect? Also are there any tools for smudging these pastels? Thanks! Brilliant job again!
I can not believe all the negative comments, I think the little girl is adorable and you did a wonderful expert job in rendering her. It is very hard to keep a child focused and still, I love the pastel painting.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
stop lookin at her breast.. just jokin.. i dont like this drawing, this doesnt mean i say you cant draw. Also i know that such job needs these kind of drawings, but, i dont simply like it :-) (btw looks like lois lane, stop at 6:40 to see her real face :-)
Impressive. I'd like to know more about your home-made pastels. Is it more expensive to make or buy pastels? Cost is really high. Also would like to see your colors displayed in a video.
Making your own pastels cost you 10 times less that buying them but it is time consuming. It is interresting if you use a lot. I make my pastel to have my own hues and right softness for my paper. IF I have a lot of request I will make a vid showing my colors.
I'd like to throw my vote in favor of a vid showing your colors, perhaps even how you make them. Needless to say, you are a remarkable artist with a wealth of knowledge to impart to those with less experience. BTW, a couple of questions:
1) Was that a leadholder with graphite lead that you were using in the beginning?
2) Did you use a black marker on the nose and other places?
Yes it is a leadholder but the mine in it is a Sepia light from "La toison d'or" (previously Koh-I-Noor ) but you can do your sketch with a Conté 2430 or 2454.
I use dark brown for the nostrils no black (never). This is a Sepia dark from the same brand I mentioned. The black I use around the eyes is a Conté Pierre noire pencil.
What an amazing artist you are. I was enthralled watching you create such a wonderful likeness of the little child. A wonderful gift from God. Her parents must be very pleased. I just began working with pastels and you are an inspiration. I'm interested to know what kind of pastels you use. Keep making videos, please. Very helpful.
Wonderful portrait, you have a great style and do a really good job with shading.
The few things that I think you could have done to improve it were little things like her mouth should have been wider and thinner, nose slightly wider and longer, the eye tilt's off on the outside and her face needed more shadow on the right as it had more angle to it than most children's.
i wanted to see the reaction of the parents and the kid.You really know what your doing if you can do a fidgety kid in pastel in under 30 mins. If you put too many layers on the whole thing looks muddy, too little it looks all translucent. Its a very frustrating medium!
Superposition de Rembrandt 408.7 et 538.7 Attention, les ombres correspondent à 1 lumière par temps couvert, les teintes changent suivant l'éclairage.....
absolutely incredible.. it was astounding to watch how the unfinished pieces all fell into place by the end. beautiful doesn't even begin to describe that drawing :]
I kept in the video only the very active steps, no need to waste time with the moments you don't see my hand on the canvas....And I don't want to speed up the video too much. Thanks for your pertinent question:)
Wow, what can I say, I'm speechless....its just so beautiful! I admire you SO much!! I love the colors you use; your technique is just so tender yet strong!
I use my own pastel for skin tones and background. Next to them, I use fabercastell for details and Rembrands especially for intense black and bright colours.
