I used to shoot from PSS pistol back in 1988-1990 in Soviet Specnaz, I remember we used to catch shells when somebody was shooting and bring them back, I mean as many rounds we used to be given, we had to bring back as many empty shells, pistol was a secret back in days. It was a good one, and looked like a toy gun.

I believe in reading up on this pistol, the most interesting part is the ammo itself. I believe the gas from the firing doesn't actually propel the bullet, it's actually driven by a piston behind it, so there's no sound from the firing. The gasses stay trapped inside the shell, likely bleeding out during or after ejection. A really interesting way to rethink silences firearms,actually!

Probably has internal gas reduction system so the gun doesn't make much noise, then mix it with subsonic ammo so you don't have a sonic boom. With those two things put together you lose velocity which leads to loss of power and range and possibly loss of accuracy.
