THose were tough years for Amtrak, but I enjoyed that time period so much as a teen, seeing classic equipment still running. Amtrak's equipment today may be modern........but so generic.

America used to be all about nostalgia but now it's all about being modernized and who has the newest equipment...

Don't get me wrong I mean I love P42's I grew up with them (I'm only 16) but it would be nice to see a couple E units heading an all heritage fleet Empire Builder now and again.

I wish I was born at a time so I could experience the Golden Age,

that way I wouldn't feel like such an old soul!

Even though this time period was not very good for Amtrak, I really wish I could ride/see it in it's early years
