  • I'm a big karen fan and I can clearly hear that she is so hoarse but the slayer instinct in her still manifests.

  • Awesome! What glory it brings to our wonderful God! Bless you for sharing this video with us all.

  • Beautiful!!! wonderful backdrop and production...one of my favorite songs.Wish I had been there.

  • Ok i thought this was beautiful. I didnt thank karen did too much at all. This was pretty tame for karen. I thought she was wonderful!!

  • karen's mom woulod have clicked out aboutthis performance...lol wow..... #blankstare - all songs aint for everybody. but i STILL love her! Vicki owns this song. too many runs....

  • Karen sounds beautiful. Just beautiful. I also love Vickies version. I think Vickie Winans was literally fashioned to sing this song though.

  • Karen was good but Vickie Winas still got her on that song. I still love karen.

  • I don't care what anyone says she sang this song.........stop being so worried about whether a person missed a note or not , I am quite sure frivolous things like that don't concern God at all. . Most of the time the people making the negative comments about how a person sounds can't sing a lick...

  • I love this song and what a beautiful production! I'd love to see this whole show. Thanks for posting!

  • This is so TOTALLY awesome!! It really touched my heart!!!

  • sounds like to me Karen was having some pitch problems on this song... Everybody can not sing this song... You have to have a high range to handle this song. Not many women can sing this. Either You are a high Alto or a soprano.

  • beautiful lets us worship him!!!!!!!!!;->

  • Vickie Winas still got karen on that sorry but its true.

  • Why are people so critical? People talking about what her voice sounded like and totally failed to listen to the msg in the song? Back in the day ppl didn't focus so much on the singer as they did the msg in the song.....we need to get back to that. You might find a blessing in doing so because your heart is pure. Stop putting ppl down because at the end of the day they are just human. She really did a wonderful job with this because the words ministered to me and uplifted me. That's the point.

  • beautiful...everybody was

  • Those who criticize this video, or comparing her to other singer, or maybe just that she sounds hoarse, I feel sorry for you, cus you didn't get the message at all. Absolutely this video great, with a beutiful message.

  • It's been a long time since there were any comments on this video.... Y'all will never know how God used this video today to reveal His living presence to me. THANK YOU!!!

  • Hoarse or not, she STILL sung the glory outta this song. Every time I hear this song it makes me wanna get saved all over again. Bless Him!

  • This is my favorite song...

  • If I could sing like this without being sick, I'd be content! haha.

  • Its amazing to me how people who can't sing a lick, can criticize people who have been anointed by God to sing and worship HIM. Each singer has an incredible gift from God and are to be cherished. Singing ability is judged by individual taste. I personally love Vicki Winans version, but I also love Sandi's and Dottie's.

  • I am sorry but I love this and EVANGEL, I just dont think the man should be coming out spinning in what APPEARS to be a dress. I was like, Say what!!!! I know it is a tunic, but when he turns at 4:26, it looks very femine. I am NOT implying he is gay, I am saying, his attire looks like a dress.

  • Powerful song!! Powerful voice!! I feel the anointing everytime i listen this!!! To God be the Glory!

  • we all listen to the voices.. but do we really get the message that she and so many others sing about??

  • Wow! The song was beautiful, and the performers and dancers were gorgeous!!

    Glory to God!

  • She sounds beautiful!!!!!!!!!

  • Karen did her best she was just sick and still blessed and praised God. Karen I love you and the anointing you have.

  • This is so AWESOME! WOW...

  • if dottie recorded this song it would have to have been b4 1983 b/c thats the year that sandi patti released hers. although i love VW version, which came out in 1988 and was 1st time i'd heard the song, the best version i heard so far was S.P.'s 1983 live performance.

  • i LOOOOVEEEEE Dottie's version because it's the original and her voice is amazing, but i must agree. Sandi killed it in 83.

  • um...i hate reading comments on youtube....yall guys make it hard for people to actually enjoy music for what it is! Dang man, just chill and enjoy what people have to offer...if I'm not mistaken I dont think Q. Jones, B. Gordon, M. Knowles, L. A. Reid, etc. are leaving opinions on these videos...I heard one producer actually talked about how inexperience and mediocre 'listeners' try to judge performers, and not really understand the art for what it is..lol Youtube is a trip! lol

  • ooh um yeah I prefer Sandi Patty, she's just screaming and running, sorry, no offense, she can sing though.

  • Um... I love this song and take nothing from Karen or Vickie but unless I'm mistaken - and I may be - Sandi Patty was the first to sing this song. And just clarity and timbre of "voice", she hit it out of the park:

    watch?v=56ovSaoWpOM

The great thing is that EVERYBODY gets to sing in Heaven! But, I cannot wait to hear JESUS sing! Jesus is going to blow us away - NO DOUBT!

  • Yeah You mistaken!!! You Make No Sense!!! And Sandi Patty Isn't The 1st One Who Sang This Song...It Was Dottie Rambo!!! And Vickie Winans Was Perfect!!! Do Your Math!!!

  • ROFL - yelling doesn't make you right. I'll concede that Sandi didn't do the song first, but my friend, she most definitely did it best. BUT - - before you start yelling again - LOL - ok, you're right. To each his own, yes?

hehehe - you'd think I took money from you. ROFL. calm down.

  • Yeh everyone no Vickie doesn't own the song, but Vicki version to it to another level..just as whitney houston took "i will always love you" from Dolly Pardon and smashed it..also hoarsness has nothing to do with this performance...the high notes at the end of the song is out of her range..Vicki could barely hit those notes 10 years ago

  • you are sadly mistaken! karen was hoarse, she has one of the purest and highest ranges around!!!! but you are entitled to your opinion!

  • Sweetie, you preachin to the choir...I know I'm entitled to my opinion...no one is saying Karen doesnt have a high range..but that last section of this song is out of this stratosphere...and not even Vicki can hit that note anymore like she used to

  • Nice play...no body does that song like Vicki Winans

  • @klimaxxx06 i totally agree with you i love both vickie and karen but vickie takes this song to a whole another level whenever i hear vickie's version i get the chills...

  • she sounds like old school at the end!

  • beautifulllllllllllllllll

  • 17,917 views at this posting ... and one or more of those views may well have been Dottie before her departure to Glory. This vid is spectacular, and I believe Karen's powerful vocal is the female thunder Dottie heard when she penned this hymn. Hang on to this vid, Brothers and Sisters. It's a classic. Five stars and Favorite. Thank you:))) Maranatha!

  • We SHALL behold Him! Come on, LORD!

  • I know Vicky is Awsome, but it is Dottie Rambos song originally, Its about Jesus, that's who we shall behold!

  • this song doesnt belong to vickie its dottie rambos song she just sang it

  • why is everyone comparing who sings it the best of course vicky is gunna sound better its her song duh!!!!!!! Karen is a beast too dnt hate

  • although karen was hoarse i commend her for coming out and still singing. i enjoyed it. we all know karen has a range she just didnt have it this night. i agree with lexrbw that vickie winans is the queen when it comes to singing this song i felt the anointing when she sings this song although it was a play i really couldnt feel the anointing when karen was singing. its not that shes not anointed because she is i just couldnt feelit in this song.

  • she is not praising any of YOU!!!!!!

  • i love vickie winans version............and i lpove this version but we must realize that karen was hoarse which is obvious at the end...also when vickie sung this it was over 10 years ago....now imagine karen singing this 10 years ago....

  • Yetpraise82..shut up..this is vickie's song and she does a great job at it..im not saying karen is a bad singer, because she isnt..but she should left this song to vickie..cause no one can sing it like her..the end

  • I o agree Jstorm1985. I am a huge fan of Vickie and hands down, Vickie got this song!!! Karen can sing. No doubt. But this is not her type of song. It was not meant to have all the riffs and runs that she does. Yetpraise82, u getting defensive for no reason

  • EXCUSE ME, Vickie didnt sound so hot, Karen not only did a great job, but she sung with power and conviction unlike vickie so lets try again

  • what?I love the clark sister and there are my favorite singers and karen is one of the best if no the best but I have to give to vickie this time she can lose she has many under belt lol!

  • WOW, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PRODUCTION

  • she did good yal, karen always sounds great just because u guys have never heard her just sing normal and hold a note, you think she sounded bad, she might hav been horse bt she didnt sound bad. some of u can't even do what she just did!! just because she didnt do the riffs and runs her and her sisters are known for, u think she was bad?? mane please yal is trippin. but wen it all boils down, whether u liked it or not, it wasn't for yal, it was her praise to God!! thank u!

  • At the beginning of the song Karen sorta sounds like Vickie to me, but by the middle and especially the end you could tell that Karen was NOT in good voice this particular day. But even if she was in the best voice I just think this is Vickie's trademark song just like Karen has her trademark songs. Nobody can sing this song like Vickie.

  • I just went and listened to Vicki, she wasn't that hot to me personally.

  • Lets all admit that this is a one off bad day for Karen...Normally she would be able to tear up Vikki. But coincidentally, this tune was Vikk's best ever performance. So sorry Karen this was not the one to mess up on

  • Here it is...

Every Artist has a bad day...

Mind you Karen sang two songs before this.

I believe that gospel Singers are real singers because many of them go to church like every single day and they don't save there voices for shows. They sing whenever the spirit shows up. There are videos of karen at her best. She did well in this performance but Vickie brought her "A" Game. SO WHAT! they are both Hot! Get over it!

  • I agree. I like this video. Karen was hoarse, but she still did what she does...MY GIRL!!

  • AWSOME I CANT GET ENOUGH OF THIS VIDEO

  • I was blessed tonight by this video. It was beautiful.

  • I cannot believe people are criticizing this magnificient praise song to Jesus. Obviously y'all are alittle spoiled with all the talent you are around. The annoiting is powerful

  • I have know idea what you all are talking about. this is awesome.....this song is low and is an alto song.....but fantastic

  • I like the Vickie version better!...That's just me...Karen can go tho!...this just wasnt her to me.....she seemed a lil outta her element..???...for lack of a better way to put it.....

  • WOW!!Great job even hoarse the show must go on. Many would not have been able to pull off such a powerful song.....Just blessed and hightly favored!!!

  • Vickie has glorious high notes but Karen has a magnificent big voice! They're both great!!

  • Karen is singing in my octave! And Im a tenor so I know she was not in healthy voice this night...

  • or mabye she was singing it in the octive it was written

  • lol...this is the best one yet...these ppl on here be killin me...thank you for bringing that to their attention...lol

  • Karen I think you should have left this song to Vickie

  • Sandi Patty does it best! too much trills n frills messes the song up

  • Karen Clark Sheard is an anointed singer, as well as Vickie so I can not compare the two. I liked this rendition, though she sounded a bit hoarse...

  • I must say I love Vickie Better with this song but Karen did a blessed Job!

  • Is this the last act?

  • yes

  • Im sorry, Vickie Winans owns this song, but nice try karen!

  • Right!

  • I must say that the Dance duet was wonderful!!!!!!

  • Yeah... I don't know who did the choreography for those angels eh

  • I think this was a beautiful production. I just felt that the shouldhave hired Classically trained Black dancers who can actually do point work. Lithurgical Dancers should stick to just basic arm movement and leave actual movement to professional dancers. Other than the dancing distraction, this was a wondeful performance.

  • didn't karen sing that song hosanna and rejoice with marvin sapp? i was there!!

  • not sure. i know the sang together with a choir at the end of hallelujah chorus (gosple virsion). i think i was at the opening show so i guess it depends on which one you went to.

  • karen looked good in dat kinda outfit

this isnt close to as vickies

karen is my favorite singer but

    this wasnt that good

    at all

this song cant take the growlin that she does

hers is to porewful and it makes the song sound kinda bad

but dont get me wrong i love karen

it was tiight when jesus came out

  • yeah she is the bomb but it also seem like she was hourse a lil and use the growlin as a save instead of crackin on em high notes...

  • if you want to hear some of the crazy notes karen can usually hit watch the video where she sings "oh the glory" in memphis at the midnight musical. it only takes about 5 seconds before you understand the note at the end of this song aint nothin' to mama Kern!

  • i hope all y'all talkin can hold a note or else....u knw wat to do!

  • Karen could sing - Do you Know your ABC's, and I'd still buy the CD. Just sing it like to know Him.

  • yes..she's hoarse....but it happens....when you sing and preach as hard as she does?...it's natural...but I'm sure she takes vocal rest every now and again..go Karen!!!

  • That male dancer was cold!

  • he was good wasn't he.

  • She needs to OFFICIALLY record this.

  • I'd buy it especialy the Via Delorosa

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • I agree. She would kill this in the studio.

  • yeah first lady was a lil hoarse! she did better than me when im hoarse!!lol

  • who ever that says that she is not hoarse dont know KSC that well...she is so hoarse.

  • either way she didn't hit that last We shall behold him...but hey she's still untouchable when it comes to vocals.

  • she sounds like she is hoarse.

  • no, she wasnt hoarse, at the end she sounded like she had to clear her throat and didnt want the camera to catch her or the mic to pic it up...i wouldnt either...

  • She was hoarse look at the other videos of that night

  • she didnt sound hoarse, but on oh holy night, she didnt hold those two notes as long as im sure she would have on a good day...but she STILL TORE IT UP!!!!

  • Vickie actually worked with Karen on this song for this performance. She gave her a lot of tips. The song is very difficult to sing too.

  • How do you know that.Interesting info. Thanks for posting.I was thinking, wow this song is really hard to sing.I wondered if she & Vickie new each other or have ever worked together. The amazing thing with Karen is that she is so spontaneous with her arrangements and she never reproduces anything. She always puts a fresh spin on a song but that can be bad for plays because Blocking may be set to every riff or run and the actors and dancers have choreographed movements they have to follow.

  • Absolutely amazing! The two last dancers came out with fire. I say to the duet who danced - keep on giving God all the praise.

  • now this made me cry like a little baby God is so good better to me then i could ever be to my self sang karen clark sheard the best ever

  • WOW!!1SANG KCS!

  • Its very close to Vickie Winans' version. Love it Karen.

  • do you know if i can order this, and which evangel cathedral is it? Thank you and god bless.

  • karen could do opera, i havent heard an opera note from her n years, that i beautiful. i wonder if karen has done anything similar like this. Big Karen never left, she just lost weight, karen didnt lose anything but weight, but she gain ANNOINTING which is ALL anyone should be concerned with!!!! This was phenomenal!!!

  • Should have done like Bettye and sang that opera not at the end.

  • Amen

  • awesome video.....she's really just singing pure here!

  • Awsome Video... I love this song.

  • Sang Karen!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for posting!!!

  • yw, my pleasure!
