another question!! im a guy and if i straighten my hair it rests on my shoulders. I have really really really thick uncombable hair. you think i can get it to look like this using my own hair?
@niceprince you may get similar if you straighten it, but if your hair is natural, it may not stay silky-ish like these were, depending on the texture of your hair. but beware of heat damage if you do!
@MARYKA123 thank you, i think she did a very good. to be honest, i only washed them with real shampoo a few times. i used a dry shampoo by organic root stimulator (ORS). it comes in this purple bottle with an applicator tip and you can find it at sallys. i don't know how long in inches they were, i just pointed to wear i wanted them to fall on my back.
The first time I got them they were twist at the roots and longer now the second time I get them it's braided at the roots and shorter. I want the first version.
@Chaley619 im pretty sure she used 100% kanekalon hair, regular braiding hair. and yes, it protected the length of my hair while it grew over the 2 1/2 month that i kept them in
UR HAIR IS VERY CUTE ,, I ALWAYS WANTS THEM , I JUST DONT WANNA SPEN ALOT OF MONEY TO JUST GET THEM , I KNO HOW TO DO BOXBRAIDS AN I GUESS I KNO HOW TO DO THEM IMA TRY BUT WEN U DOIN BOXBRAIDS DO U PART THA PARTS SMALLER ? AN DO U HAV TO MAKE AN BOX , IM TRYNA FIGURE OUT HOW DO I MAKE THA FRONT OF MI HAIR LOOK FULL!
@fallbackwestendhere i can only sorta do box braids. i remember when the girl was doing my hair, she parted small triangular sections with a duck bill clip. i think the triangle shaped sections versus the box shaped sections, along with the smaller section size of course, made it look full overall
@cottoncandychic i think they took about 6 or 7 hours for one person to do them but i know at others shops sometimes they have two ppl work on your hair to cut down time. i kept mine in for about 10 or 11 wks
Im going out of state on an internship for 4 months. They allow braids and twists but the catch is with the twist they cant look like dreads. I spoke to one of the representatives and she told me that if you get twist the only concern is how they look after i slept on them weeks later. I really want to get the twist. My ? is If maintained well can they always look fresh and not get a dread look and would you recommend me getting these twist considering the situation?
@bbgirl2008 sorry to just now get back to you on this comment. but they can definitely look fresh. i had my twists in for 10 or 11 wks in my video where i do a few styles on my senegalese and they still looked as fresh as day one. you can get the edges redone after a 1-1/2 months too to prolong the wear of your twists. and i definitely reccoment them! they were low maintenance. i just put a satin bonnet on when i slept and they never got fuzzy or dread-like.
@gangstaprincess28 no, the lady who did my hair was very gentle, so my hair was taut, not tight. most of my edges were completely intact after wearing them. there was just ONE twist on my edges that fell out because there was too much weight on it because it was done on a section of hair that was maybe only an inch long. but it has grown back and you can't even tell :) oh and it was kanekalon hair
Hey, your hair is so pretty. I have a question. I'm trying to do mine about your length but im wondering when you put it into a ponytail does the back seem to be a little shorter than the other areas or am i doing something completely wrong, lol
@tiannaj101 thank you :) and yeah, its a tad bit shorter but not noticeably so. it think the size and number of my twists disguised that. if your twists are bigger and fewer in # it may be more apparent that the lengths are different.
@danae417 i have never had a full head of micros. i only did half a head of them on myself but i didn't keep them in that long so i can't compare the two. compared to what i have seen from other people, yes they can last just as long as micros or kinky twists, and the damage depends on how you take care of them. my hair was relaxer free for 5 months before i got them so it was less stress on my hair because my natural hair is stronger than my relaxer hair. i hope that made sense :/
Question, no one seems to be able to answer this for me. My hair is long, and it's my hair, so how much would THAT cost? Because whenever I check, it's always with some kind of "hair" never natural.
@basedblueBARBiE nah, i would say they're medium sized, only because i've seen tinier ones. i never specified a size with my braider, she did them this size on her own
@Sonya09able thank you! and i'm surprised they don't rock em down there, but maybe thats why my bf liked em so much (he's from jax) lol. and yes girl, be the first so then everybody will be jockin YOUR style. i wanna say she used 3 packs of hair (maybe a tiny bit out of a fouth pack) and yes i believe she used kanekalon hair
@souljagirl0118 twisting. looks better to me. when your hair starts growing out it looks the same as if it would if it were braided and twisted. either is fine to me, but like i said, i prefer twisting because it looks better to me
I hate to be worrysome/repetitive but how long had you had your twists in when you did this video? because it doesnt look like your edges/hairline was done real tight if you had just got them done. (i'm trying to compare your edges to mine. hopefully mine werent done too tight haha)
@DarkNight186 no no youre fine :) i probably only had these in for like, 2 or 3 days when i did this video. she really didn't braid the edges tight at all, so no breakage for me! from having my hair braided when i was younger i know that i get little white bumps around my hairline if its braided too tightly and i don't remember experiencing those at all with these twists. i hope yours weren't done too tightly! if they were just baby em til you take the twists out and you should be fine.
@no8thletter i used a dry shampoo from Organic Root Stimulator to wash them so as not to have my twists frizz up. after a while i did "wash" them with diluted shampoo in a cup and a round sponge. i just squeezed the mixture down the length of the twists & then rinsed by pouring cups of water over my head while leaning over the sink. i used sprayed in a leave-in conditioner. then i'd put on a bonnet while it dried so the twists didn't get any lint on them. hope that helps!! :)
@pamiam2u2 no its not human hair. i would say the hair you use for micros would be closer to the kind of hair they use for the twists. i do know its synthetic, and i THINK they used kanekalon hair, but i'm not completely sure
i would say i got medium sized. i would say only get the micro sized if you really love the look because these can kinda be pain to take out and i can only imagine how it wouldve been if i had them smaller. or only get the micro size if your head is on the smaller size. i feel like this size twist on someone with a smaller head (i think my head is a lil larger than normal lol) might look bulky
@xxstaceybooxx i wish i could tell you! the braid shop i went to included the hair. i got them so long ago and i'm sure this may not help much but all i remember is that the hair came in a really long red pack. sry i wasn't much help
@THETEENEDUCATOR MOISTURRREEEEE. but seriously, i just used wave nouveau moisturizer and extra virgin coconut oil. nothing too fussy and my new growth was really soft when i them down. i didn't do this, but if you'd like, you can also get the edges redone halfway through however long you plan on wearing them so the style stays lookin "fresh" and you can't see the NG
@tanay5680 i have a video showing a few simple styles, but honestly you can do soooo many things with this hair. i wish i still had them in because it would be a lot easier to show you than to tell you. but ponytails, buns, updos, half-up/half-down... skys the limit!
@MiracleChild3 i know my cousin and i got ours done around the same time and she had hers braided at the root. she definitely took hers down before i did, so i think the twisting is better. i thought it would be damaging but its not at all. and i think it looks a little bit neater/uniform.
What kind of hair did you use for this? I am going to get them done and think I got the wrong hair. I want them to look like yours, not like kinky twists. Do I get the marley(senegalese twists) braid hair or the yaky braiding hair? Im gonna go get the yaky, cause the hair I bought looks too kinky..
i used the ors dry shampoo mostly. i didn't really want to use it because i saw alcohol was in it, but i didn't know what else to use. it may sound bad, but i only washed it once every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks since i kept them in so long. it works really well to get the smell out of the twists too because trust me, i smelled like the club and fried chicken a few times and it was a lifesaver lol. I did wash them though with diluted softsheen carson weave shampoo. i used a cup and a few drops of (cont'd)
the shampoo and used one of those round sponges and squeezed it down the length of the twists, then went back with straight water and did the same thing. finished with the leave-in spray. i didn't deep condition it at all because i didn't want any buildup. i put a breathable satin cap on after washing so lent and stuff from the air wouldn't get on my roots and mat it up. i know thats a lot but i hope it helped!
and they didn't require too much care. I suggest a braid spray or something along those lines to moisturize your scalp and twists. i used diluted infusium 23 moisturologie leave-in conditioner mixed with a few drops of peppermint oil. sometimes i put two plaits in it or a bun before i went to sleep and i slept with a satin bonnet on. nothin too complicated
Your hair looks great. I've been debating on senegalese vs. kinky. Think I'm going with senegalese. Going to get some next month for my bday. Thanks for this vid, you helped make my decision.
hi i am really considering doing the twists.. i just wanted to ask .. are the twists better than normal single plaits or micro braids ie is there less breakage?... your hair looks amazing
and i wish i could really answer this, but i've never had micros so i can't compare the two. so far i have only had one of my twists come out, and it wasn't because it broke off, but rather it slipped out (it was near the nape where my hair is only 3/4 an inch long, IF that)
micros would probably cause more breakage than singles or twists would though
Don't get braids right after you get a perm because your hair is very fragile since it has been broken down by the chemicals. I would wait at LEAST 3-4 weeks after a relaxer to get braids so that your natural hair has time to grown in some. It is stronger than relaxed hair so it's less likely that it will be pulled and broken. hope this helps and let me know i you have more questions :)
girl those r cuter than cute i hav seen ur vid like 4 times cuz i want some and i am finally gettin some come this friday i am so excited hit me bak and tell me everything bout them dat u luv

Your hair looks great. I've been debating on senegalese vs. kinky. Think I'm going with senegalese. Going to get some next month for my bday. Thanks for this vid, you helped make my decision.

hi i am really considering doing the twists.. i just wanted to ask .. are the twists better than normal single plaits or micro braids ie is there less breakage?... your hair looks amazing
ninzlo89 2 years ago
thank you :)
and i wish i could really answer this, but i've never had micros so i can't compare the two. so far i have only had one of my twists come out, and it wasn't because it broke off, but rather it slipped out (it was near the nape where my hair is only 3/4 an inch long, IF that)
micros would probably cause more breakage than singles or twists would though
sorry i couldn't be of more help :(

os it a good idea to get braids when you have a perm? im afraid the braids might pull my hair
mnmorgan123456 2 years ago
Don't get braids right after you get a perm because your hair is very fragile since it has been broken down by the chemicals. I would wait at LEAST 3-4 weeks after a relaxer to get braids so that your natural hair has time to grown in some. It is stronger than relaxed hair so it's less likely that it will be pulled and broken. hope this helps and let me know i you have more questions :)
