The problem with putting this on you tube is the amount of idiots who are saying they would beat these kids senseless, or they would not make it out of our gym alive is just plain stupid cause you are talking about taking actions pretty much just like the fouls showed in the video. I played high school sports in wa state. The Refs are Ok with letting the kids play as long as no one gets hurt. Sometimes the refs let things get out of hand. The kid should have been gone after he knocked the other player to the floor. There maybe more calls that you didnt see, youre seeing a fraction of the game.
#34 is loving the crowd reaction. Half of these are normal everyday fouls. #5 is ridiculous, but it happened to me before... obviously flagrant. He's a big strong kid but doesn't use it correctly. His laziness forces him to rely on brawn instead of fundamentals. This is a coaching error more than anything.

Number 34 was the only one that committed intentional/flagrant fouls. And if your playing against someone doing that, you either drive with the knowledge thats going to happen and avoid the contact, or drive with the intent to hurt him instead. Thats one of the main things i learned in basketball, if the refs arent calling it, you have to find a way to win anyway. With that being said, that kid should be suspended for a few games(but i dont think he would care)

Certainly it seems like several of those players were using more force than was necessary to break up the play, but that doesn't mean the fouls were "flagrant." We can't use the dictionary definition of the word flagrant when there is a different, specific basketball interpretation of what a flagrant foul is.

Number 34 was the only one that committed intentional/flagrant fouls. And if your playing against someone doing that, you either drive with the knowledge thats going to happen and avoid the contact, or drive with the intent to hurt him instead. Thats one of the main things i learned in basketball, if the refs arent calling it, you have to find a way to win anyway. With that being said, that kid should be suspended for a few games(but i dont think he would care)

The term for these players who commit the hard fouls is goons. They have them in professional hockey but there is no place for them in HS basketball. The referrees in this game arae cowards and should not be working as refs at any level. Until the district disciplines the refs it will condintue. I don't thnk foul # 2 was flagarant, but the others were.

4 and 5 are the only fouls that should have been classified as "flagrant." There is a difference between something being called an obvious foul and something being called a flagrant foul. Certainly it seems like several of those players were using more force than was necessary to break up the play, but that doesn't mean the fouls were "flagrant." We can't use the dictionary definition of the word flagrant when there is a different, specific basketball interpretation of what a flagrant foul is.

@P90XIntown I understand that not all six should have been called common fouls. I never argued that. Certainly fouls 3, 4. and 5 should have been called flagrant, and #34 should have been ejected after #3 because that forearm shiver to the face is basically the same thing as a punch (an automatic ejection at any level). I'm not saying the refs shouldn't have done more, I'm saying we should acknowledge the difference between a hard foul and a flagrant foul that results in ejection/suspension.
