yes blame whites. Whites actually were voting for him, but guess what? A 20 year association with an outspoken black seperatist, such as Wright, should be a problem for all voters. It is understandably a problem for white voters. Why could the Democratic party not find some decent candidates?
I understand the statistical reasons for tracking black votes vs. white votes, but the act in itself identifies the racist problems still dragging your country down. People are people.
I guess we can just let him say what he wants since we all know what he's talking about, but it's walking down this road that a kind of self-brainwashing happens.
For example, many people think that "my idea is" is the same as "my theory is", which is not. 99% of the people (persons, technically, another example) use "my theory is" incorrectly, since what they have isn't a theory, but a hypothesis or just an idea. Not a theory.
Correct usage of terms and correct English are important.
I understand. It's just when I was growing up "African American" was all I ever heard so it doesn't bother me. Saying "the blacks/ the whites" sounds kind of rude imo.
I compromise by using "black/white american" instead :)
Well, did you ever hear people calling whites "European Americans"? I know I didn't.
Also, the using of "African American" as a designation of race can, in effect, brainwash many people living in the United States. For example, I would not be suprised if you asked some American, white or black, what race is the president of Nigeria, they would say "African American", even though the president is NOT American whatsoever. See the problem? And then again, what about Africans that aren't-
black? Non-sub-Sahara Africa specifically. Not everyone indiginous to Africa is black. Same problem with the generalising of "Asians", though that doesn't present such a problem at the moment as much as "African American" does.

I think to a large extent the news is driving this story. The media maelstrom around Rev Wright continues, leading people to increasingly view their votes as referendums on his remarks. This will crowd out other, more valid concerns they might've had earlier. Wright is being judged on a cherry-picked set of quotes, certainly no longer than 3 minutes for most people, that have been selected from several decades of preaching, & were chosen expressly for their ability to scare white Americans.
I guess Hillary is going to have to make the case that Obama can't win because he's black. This is already being said in so many subtle ways. And it's bullshit.
Senator Barack Obama's campaign continued its fund-raising tear in March, [..] bringing in more than $40 million, campaign officials said today.
More than 442,000 people contributed to the campaign in March, with more than 218,000 of them giving for the first time. The average contribution in March was $96; the total number of contributors to date comes to 1,276,000."
Stop making this a Race or Gender thing those types of discussions are for the ignorant, stick to the issues. We are smart enough to make an educated decision.
You and I may be smart enough to make an educated decision, but not everyone is. The people making this a race thing are the American people voting in the primaries and caucuses.
Not voting means you agree with corporatism. Nothing else. It's not a homeowners association meeting where you need to hit quorum before you make a decision- you don't vote... they get all the power with no challenge.
Gender/Race/Party Affiliation...makes no difference. The election will yeild exactly who big business/bankers want, not who the PEOPLE want. The election has already been decided, you just don't know it.
My solution... DON'T VOTE.
The silence of the masses may send a different message.
They are ALL criminals, influenced by lobbyists, money, corruption, "I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine". We should DEMAND they all go.
that's stupid. no offense, but "don't vote" is NOT an *action* and sends no message. in case you didn't realize, voter turnout only hovers around 50% anyway. there are plenty of people not voting because they're in prison or because they're turned away at the polls. the goal of the wealthy elites is to get people to think that inaction is action. how do you "demand" they go without voting them out? what are YOU doing?
Well despite the other issues which dilute the results of the graph, i.e. gender, education, income, etc, it's quite clear that racialized voting still occurs prominently.
That's quite disappointing, Hillary may be able to make a reasonably compelling argument at the DNC convention.

So I guess TPM is going to focus on Race rather than the real issues surrounding our country.

Anyone that tries to hold Obama, Billary, and
McBush accountable for every vote they have
ever made, has NO idea how Washington runs
and are simply looking for a petty, beside the point, excuse to not support them. The
only vote that really mattered, is the the
one that ONLY Barack got right, IRAQ.

Let's talk about you - and - me.
Let's talk about all the good things
and the bad things
that - may - be.
HRC is just desperately parsing numbers, and every time it doesn't work out, she's made a stronger case against herself.

Given the fact that 51% of American voters put Bush in office TWICE, I'd say that there are a healthy number of voters that ARE ignorant.
