there's another version of this on the Main Event CD in which Farnham sings "the cleaning lady" (aka Sadie style) right after the opening lines; it sent Warlow into stiches of laughter and it took him a few seconds to continue.
I love Anthony Warlows voice. It sounds like blue velvet unveiling into a grand midnight sky or something, but I've got to admit that John's note at 1:00 is freakin' amazing. He sounds just like David Phelps there.
Whoever programmed this piece into the Main Event deserves a huge round of applause - not only did it showcase Warlow's superb voice, it also showed a different side to John Farnham and classical music as well. Just magnificent.
there was a CD version of this where farnham made reference to saddie after he sang grenada at the start, warlow was in stiches afterwards, very funny
Yeah, technically Anthony is much better but John sure knows how to entertain too. My hat goes off to the two of them. They are both legends in their own fields.
So glad I found this. Agree with NFavaloro2 about the :51 to 1:02. JF's the best and can he harmonise or what! It was a great concert from start to finish. Bravo!!
I hope everyone notices when Ant does the Frank Spencer for a sec, hehe.
And i just want to let everyone know that i am certainly a Johnny fan. He rocks and is one heck of a performer. No question. I'm just an insane Ant-fan. If only he could have been well to have done JC Superstar with Johnny back in the day. *sniff* Poor Ant.
the technique lies with warlow, of course. I mean just listen to the rate of vibrato,,,,a relaxed voice vibrates evenly...but the other guy has an amazing head/rock voice. The things he's got going for him is the high notes,,basicallt THE YELLING
I LOVE them both Warlow is always amazing..Im embarrassed to say I had never heard of John Farnhan But for being a POP singer I think he DID VERY well with Warlow..I think you guys DOWN UNDER have been hiding ALL THAT talent from us Americans LOL what a country you have!!
yer probaly there both good singers iam not disagreeing with u i am a farhan fan i just but think ant has a bit more spark and character to his performance and is a bit better with an audience but then again tht my opinion
that's not the point. the point is john is a legend in the craft, and Anthony Warlow is getting there. but they're in different occupations anyways. The oldest is always the teacher, maybe Warlow can learn something from the 58 year old veteran. this wasn't his last big concert. have you seen the one with tom jones? he still doing it after all these years.
i didnt say this was his last time big concert and anyway anthony has better vibrato then john hes better at classical music and if u look at the vid ant is telling john what to do but tht might just be a joke
"bit old and thers reason he had his last big time concert you know" - what do you mean then?
well the fact that one is an opera singer and the other is a contemporary/pop singer, they're in 2 different styles. and that bit is most likely part of the performance.
They are both brilliant. And Anthony is currently touring with the Phantom of the Opera. And go see him - nothing else compares! He's brilliant! It gives you goosebumps
OMG .. i'm in luv wit anthony warlow he is my favourite singer of all time.. i got all his albums hehe n hav da privilge of seein him play da phantom in a few weeks!!!! AHHH CAN"T WAIT!
Haha I laugh every time Anthony pretends to spit on John, then goes into his Frank Spencer voice! Great vid! :-)

I'm pretty sure Farnhams's highest note in this, at 0:56, is a C#5. Can anyone confirm that?

Warlow could actually be passed off for an opera singer. I'm a huge opera buff, so that's about the biggest compliment I can give him.
phantom4087 3 years ago
He actually is an opera singer and trained in and still, every once in a while, continues to sing it. He just happens to sing in musicals as well.
