@ryumaster This was back before Mario couldn't really talk. Or, if you want to fanwank it, he was lipsyncing, since he only knows Italian and a little English.
@ryumaster Okay, maybe I'm wrong. I just saw more recent Japanese commercials where Mario can talk. But it's always in this low pitched voice, which we know isn't his voice. So he still has to be lip syncing.
(Charles Martinet is the official voice of Mario, and in the few times when he's had to speak Japanese, it's still in that high pitched voice.)
urhg, I can't speak Japanese and even I can tell that song was LAAAAAAME. Wasn't Mario basically just singing something like "Hello, Hello, this is the Famicon" over and over again? Laaaaaaame.
the ads we got in America sucked horribly... I remember the Mario World one was just a lame narrator telling us we had more levels to conquer or some shit
@Frizzurd a bit more colour, a bit more colder, a bit more hotter, a bit more brighter, a bit more levels, a bit more SUPER MARIO WORLD, NOW ON THE SUPER NES!!!
@Idiocracy2040 Americans created a talking, walking, cigarette smoking, general all around badass robot in the 1930s and you want to claim the technological superiority of Japan?
To put the icing on the cake, one nation has ever set foot on the moon. And they were waving the red, white, and blue. Now stop being an ignorant mother fucker and learn your place.
@WolvusMan Other than video games and making useless technology (why do I need a cellphone the size of my thumb?) America is far superior in the field of technology.
@batmanownsyourass - Fine; "who's gonna return this guy with the 'Grateful Dead' T-shirt and the 'Fuck You' hat to HIS original upright position?" ...Also,
I think this is another case of a dude who demands every other citizen play the maid of THE Country, while he is wrapped around THE flag. Blowing, you see, since a phone the size of a thumb leads to better mobility. Toil for anything too much, bathe in THE glory and mentally need ALL else bathing in, you're a tool.
@super58173 "Better mobility" doesn't really matter when I can't press the buttons because my fingers are too big. Also, America is the forerunner in technological advances. This isn't misguided patriotism. This is fact. It's why Japanese came to America in the late 80s/90s and snatching up computer companies. They know we're better than them.
@batmanownsyourass - What you didn't know was that a cellphone the size of a thumb leaded to smaller electronics, but not to that extreme. WE? I just live at peace IN great USA, because, an extreme patriotism is believing America 'pwns' every other, HEED their BALLS! This is really just cocksucking; WANTING SELF proclaimed status to be REAL, syndromes being: attempting emotional "ownage", scavenging as many as reasons why. It's stupid to LIVE by crediting America itself for xxx.
@Idiocracy2040 First of all, it was a joke. Second of all, everyone in the world knows that Americans make the most sophisticated equipment on the market. I mean there's a reason the fastest computer in the world is made with American components. Americans CREATED the video game department. Just because we moved from machines dedicated to play to machines dedicated to work does not mean we're less technologically advanced.
@Chase1002newaccount yes I know it's a commercial for Super Mario World and yes I did watch it but I'm just saying what does this commercial have to do with super Mario world. Like where's yoshi this is his first apperance. And where's the gameplay footage basically every game commercial has gameplay footage. But maybe it would make more sense if it was in English or had English subtitles
@DDRUTOU Yeah, it was originally called Super Mario Bros. 4 and it was even a subtitle in the Japanese version of the game. Whether the Japanese version used it or not, in the American version the tiles exist for a specially-fonted 'Super Mario Bros. 4' on the title screen.
i hate the fact thast in england they dont put efoort in adverts i been watching tonnes of japanish adverts for mario and the like do stuff like this or make a cartton just for the advert
@Armalizilto Yes, he is. Super Mario World was the debut release game for the Super Famicon, so that's why it's a "joint-commercial". It's advertising both at the same time as a bundle.
Well, Nintendo's the name of the company. Famicom is Japanese for Family Computer. Rather than give the American version a Japanese name, they decided to call it the Nintendo Entertainment System. They did the same thing with the Super Famicom and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. They were gonna call the Nintendo 64 the Ultra Famicom, but, when the American version couldn't be called the Nintendo Ultra 64 due to copyright issues, they just called both versions the Nintendo 64. Same since.
Fun little Ad. really their should be more like this, but oh Mario how you have been favored over by other characters such as Sonic (who I like better because he actually has a personality) and that loser from Halo, whatever his name was again....and so many more.
Wow, Bowser looks kickass. Why can't there be more commercials like this in the states? All we do is use CGI.
