This had the potential to be a good review but it's spoilt by the amateurish & painful delivery of the presenter. Stick to the riding & use subtitles.
@ShakyUK i like MCN much more than, for example german motorcycle journals.. they are so boring.. MOTORRAD.. yawn.. the best is MOTO JOURNAL from france though, youtube that : )) but MCN is alright, their presenters are obviously passionate riders, thats what makes out their videos for me :)
Kawasaki all the way. Guess it just depends. If you're going for a sport tourer bike with a lot more speed, then get the BMW. If you going for a bike thats more safe to ride and is more comfy, get the c14. I dont think the bmw is faster in top speed. It may just be lighter and can hit speeds a bit faster than the 14. Still no match for the zx14 though. I think the zx12 would smoke it aslo. I'd perfer heated hand grips anyway. Only thing that bothers me in the winter are my hands.
i have been driving the k1200gt for three years now and i do have ASC (traction control)? might have been a good thing to mention the possibility to have it on the beemer as well to compare the bikes.
@MrSpeedfightRichy Kawasaki and Susuki are the cheapest of the big four Jap makes so what are you on about? If its the build quality then I disagree there too. I've had a few kwaks and Hondas and the Kwaks were far better build than the Hondas.
hey Simon...in my country Malaysia.. suzuki is the most expensive among the 1000cc group.. the k9 is 95k.. the kawasaki is cheapest and i think its a very good bike...
Several friends I ride with have ST1300s, and my Kawasaki C14 pretty much spanks their bikes at will. Honda makes a very nice sport tourer, as does Yamaha (FJR)- but frankly-- this video puts the two best in class head to head. Nice to see Kawasaki get a positive review. Anyone who buys the Kawi over the BMW will have plenty money left in their pocket to personalize it to their taste.
Most of us put them away to prevent salt or wipe out damage . The cost and damage isn't worth riding for that few extra days . At least in North America .
I either missed it or they didn't mention a VERY important point, that one BMW $ costs about 2 Kwasakis, , do the maths & you'll see for yourself. So if you want 2 wheels with a good engine (aka a motorcycle), you get the Kwak + about 3K dollars in your pocket.
Reliability? BMW is far from perfect + see how much spare parts cost.
I've owned 4 different BMs & they are damn painful financially to maintain VS 3 Kwasakis that cost me near nothing to run..
Perfect conditions? You Brits are crazy, I'll give it up to you though. I wouldn't ride a STREET bike in half of the conditions you guys do. Those bikes seem so big.
Sure you can take a sports-bike out in winter. I've a 1992 cbr900rr. No form of Electronic "interference", hell not even injection. I ride all year round on it!! Summer-gloves all year too, Don't like the fat bulky winter-gloves.
man I wish this guy whould do a superbike shootout for the 600's!!!! he does them very well. Motorcycal USA blows I fuckin hate them! there reviews suck. off topic lol. good review
Why didn't they get a k1300 with traction control? Isn't it standard on the SE?

Good audio but fairly crappy video. Good information and different riding conditions than usually portrayed. Helmets off to the riders!

Did you see that wheel spin? -No, I haven't.

Ofcourse, KAWASAKI is the winner!

I soooo missed the FJR here too,,, she's this class & has a lot to say when put next to these two.
And one very important more point.. Vibration.. German bikes come nowhere near the smoothness of Japanese engines, specially at around 80mph.

Ouh, I'd be careful with that. ;)

kawa is way nicer idd, and I'm not per-se a kawa man, but the airholes in the fairing makes it look a lot less bulky.

I've ridden both bikes. I tend to agree. I did think the Beemer to be more flickable. The price difference might give the big Kaw the nod for me.

looked abit scary when he had it off lol still not sure about it when your going round a bend - highside or no highside that is the question....
gangsta078 2 years ago
The traction control should catch the rear before it slides out.
It's low sides you need to watch for. No traction control will save your front end from washing out.
