  • @tontitofrito Wish you were my Spanish teacher! Then Spanish class wouldn't be such a frightening place to be:)

  • like if your teacher sent you here.

  • if you were to say "Christmas is during the winter season" would it be "La Navidad es en el invierno" or would it be "es en el invierno"?

  • @lonedarkwolf

They could both work. In the second one... it is impied (the verb tells us that we're talking about something)

So if someone asked you "¿Cuándo es la Navidad?" and you know you're talking about it... you could respond:

    "Es en el invierno."

  • @tontitofrito gracias

  • @tontitofrito do u pronounce april (a-reel) or (a-leel)??

  • also having a hard time using... CUAL,COMO and Cuando....sometimes CUANDO means CUAL?.. COMO sometimes HOW and Que or The? also Lo que and Se... im having a hard time..please teach on how to use those kind of words

  • im having a hard time...determing what is CUal,que, it is desame?cual is which and que is what..right??pero como usar los palabras¿....

  • @johnericsantiago28 I have a video on "cual" and "que" you might check out.

  • Gracias! I am just going to start watching your videos as study guides! THEY ARE PERFECT! :)

  • These lessons are so helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tontitofrito how do you say "what is his name?"

  • @1eyesnipe

    two basic ways...

¿Cuál es su nombre? (¿Cuál es el nombre de él?) = What is his name?

¿Cómo se llama (él)? = What does he call himself?

  • @tontitofrito thanks sooooo much

  • what is the difference between "cuando: anad "cual"????????

thanks sooooo much for ur great effort

  • @amirabarbary

    ¿cuándo? = when?

    ¿cuál? = what? / which?

  • though spanish is a latin language and english isnt, the months in english are a LOT closer to the latin months then the spanish months are.

For eg. Latin: Januarius, English: January, Spanish: Enero

  • in australia we do say the date 'of' the month, so the 07/24/2011 would be the 24th of July or 24/07/2011

  • 1:30 thats my birthday :D lol!

  • 4:20 - did you mean to say halloween?

  • YOU ARE THE BEST SPANISH TEACHER in YOUTUBE................so clear so to the point and I LOVE IT when you speak SPANISH and after that you translated it to ENGLISH........it make LEARNING so easy.............YOU AWSOME ;-)

  • is it "cual" or "cuando" when you ask about the date? because i saw 2 "cual"

while others where "cuando", so which one?

  • noob!

  • noob

  • 1 question so we should pronounce "abril" as "avril"?? "b" become "v"??

  • Another great lesson! x

    Saludos =)

  • You should say " hoy es dos de mayo " no say ( hoy es "el" dos de mayo)

  • Why do you use el when saying Cuando es la Navidad instead of Cuando es Navidad? Same for Halloween?

  • @MrzRocRoyal12

Looks like someone turned off the annotations. ;-) Maybe you should leave them on because I explain things (sometimes small errors) through the annotations.

  • hola yo soy del norte de mexico y decimos el primero de ____ ,no el uno de ___ pero de cualquier manera se entiende y decimos que fecha es hoy? love your videos they help me teach my husband some spanish......

  • @sandybran

  • Hola! just wanna say in spain when there is a "c" in a word like "Diciembre" you dont pronounce the "c" as an s like "disiembre" you pronounce it as th like "dithiembre" same with "z" just a little bit of clarification

  • "make sure you answer your own birthday"... jajajajaja... qué buen chiste!

  • this help me a lot.

  • I thought saying "uno" was wrong. Hhhmmm (I'm mexican) I was teached that the correct way was "primero". Ok, this helped even me. :D

  • Happy birthday! It's in a few days!

  • @3C1983

    ¡Gracias!

  • 1º Spanish people don´t use "primero" or "el". It´s more simple to say that:

    -Es uno de Mayo

Cause Spanish people use "primero" for the first sunday in the month.

2ºAnd in they say Halloween too, not "dia de los espiritus", remember that this is an ameriican or english party...

  • I believe you mean to say "Spaniards" since you're generalizing the people from Spain. Thanks for letting us know that.

In Latin America, from my understanding, 'el primero de ____' is quite common.

  • @tontitofrito i know i know, but i mean that say "uno" it isn´t wrong at all...

    but good job guy! ;D

  • thanks

  • it was awesome and helpful

  • hoy es sabado oktubre nueve !!

  • @nil1230 is octubre, not oktubre

  • Thank you! :)

  • Your lessons are very, very, helpful. Do you have any lesson on llevar to wear I believe I said it right. Can you help me with es or son, and un/unos or una/unas?

  • oh my gosh your awesome!

  • 2:08

  • 2:09

  • This must be your favorite shirt :)

  • Thank you so much you are very helpful. PS is that your favorite shirt

  • Actually, I prefer my Reeses shirt

  • Thanks, this is helping me study for my Spanish quiz tomorrow (it's on seasons, months, days of the week, and forms of the verb "ser")

  • I noticed that when you talk about (When is independence day?) You used "Cual es el......" But when you talk about (When is Valentine's day?) You used "Cuando es el..." I wanna ask what's the difference between "Cual es el" and "Cuando es el"

  • You could use both in that one.

¿Cuál es___? --> which is ... that is .... 'which of all the days is independence day?'

    versus

    ¿Cuándo es __? --> when is

  • Your videos are so amazing, that I simply cannot stop watching them. I know, I should take breaks between each video, and revise, but I can't stop listening to you. Spanish is so beautiful, and you can really teach well, Im hypnotised :D

  • GRACIAS MUCHO.

  • THANK YOU.

  • no lie all your videos are awesome! I am working witha kid who just came from cuba in a class thatim volunteering and this will be helpful...

  • Really easy and helpful, Thanks! :)

  • Soooo helpful!! Perfecto!

  • Thank you for this video. I'm taking spanish online and we were asked to record ourselves saying "when is your birthday in spanish "and the teacher assumed that we would know how to say it with out hearing it.

  • @hiei4ever I'm learning English watching CBS News videos.

  • @ THDa i thought enedo was un vebo para need if not whats the vebo

  • necesitar --> to need

  • love his kitkat shirt lol

  • enedo = need

  • isn't january enedo?

  • it's "enero' but the single 'r' between vowels is a single tongue flap which some might think sounds more like a 'd' in English.

  • Gracias!!!!

  • i'm a fast-any-language learner so for me the vids are just what i need, thanks bro,

    muchisimas gracias, hombre)))

  • @factoryhoboz though, apparently not English as you shouldn't have hyphenated "fast" and "any".

  • I'm enjoying these immensely and I hope you produce more.

  • This guy only teaches the Spanish of Latin America. Some of the things that he says are not Spanish rules like the example of "el primero de mayo" and things like that. It really sounds bad for a Spanish guy.

  • So how do you say "the first of May" then?

  • we say more commonly "uno de mayo"

  • Irish people still say "yee" (you plural)which died out in England maybe 200 years ago and Scottish people still say "ken" instead of "know" which again is old English from when it was closer to German.English people use the perfective tenses much more than any other country; where they are dying out.Countries separated by just a few hundred miles have huge differences in language, it is natural there will be a similar difference in Spanish. Everyone is right.

  • same as filipino just some spelling changed.

  • buenas clases

  • you are really good i am learning really fast

  • hola! Sr. Jordan.

what's the difference between "cual es" and "cuando es"? and when can i use it? :D

    ps:

thanks so much for the videos! i'm learning fast! You're a gooood teacher! :D

  • Hola. Sorry I didn't see this message until now.

    ¿Cuál es ___? = Which / What is ___?

    ¿Cuándo es ___? = When is ___?

  • Gracias!!

  • hola!!!

'Cual es la fecha de hoy?' 'de' - sounds like 'day' in english, but why dont you hear it in this question?

  • he says de. Cual es la fecha de hoy means which is the date of today(or something along those lines) Hoy means today and de means of :3Hope this helps!^_^

  • I struggle to hear these :(

  • Thanks so much for these videos! I'm taking Spanish this year, and this will help me study a lot! I'll be subscribed to you.

  • mucho gracias

    thankyouu:)

  • when you say viente and abril do you pronounce the v in viente like a b and when you say abril do you pronounce the b as a v?

  • /b/ and /v/ tend to have the same sound in Spanish. It's not quite our /b/ or /v/, but the sound in Spanish is closer to our /b/.

  • This is really helpful. Thanks!

  • when someone asks u a date would u ever say it in a complete sentence? like if someone asked me

cual es el dia de independencia?

    could i answer

    thx, nice shirt btw lol

  • Sure, it's completely fine to answer in a complete sentence.

I tell my students that it's important to understand how to make the sentences in class and for the tests... but when you're talking to someone, if the short way is easier, just go with whatever works as long as it makes sense.

  • k thx

  • Thanks!

  • Hmm when to use Cuál & Cuando?

  • This might help:

¿cuál? = Which / What (used with more than one option)

ex: ¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy?

    (What[which] is the date today?)

    ¿Cuándo? = when

ex: ¿Cuándo es el día de la Raza?

    (When is Columbus Day?)

  • In regards to Cual. I know I dont have the accents in there or upside down question marks. But just like the question: Que dia es hoy? Could you say: Que es la fecha de hoy? Instead of Cual?

  • Cuál / Cuáles are used with choice between things when used with 'es' or 'son'

¿Cuál es el día mejor para ti? -Which(What) is the best day for you?

'Qué' would be more of a definition.

¿Qué es el día mejor para ti? -What is (define) 'the best day' for you?

Hope that made sense. Eventually I'm sure I'll have a lesson on the nuances.

  • Haha!

  • Are there any other proper nouns that are not capitalized other than months and weeks?

  • I can't think of anything. Typically in titles in Spanish (for movies, books, etc), you'll only capitalize the first letter of the first word and the rest is not capitalized.

  • I think there might be a typo on this video tho mate. At about 3min50sec it reads ?Cuando es el la Novidad? But when u say it, you only use "la" and don't say "el" (suggesting navidad is feminine). Just a heads up, hope this helps.

  • ay ay ay, you're right... I'll fix that soon and re-upload it.

    ¡Gracias!

  • !de nada mi amigo! Glad i cud help (after all, you've been very helpful to me and many others it seems).

  • Dude these videos are awwesome! Very helpful indeed for us beginners and very clearly presented. !Tu eres un profesor muy bien! (hope i said that right). U should make professional guides like this or something! I'm sure you'd do very well.

    !MUCHO GRACIAS tontitofrito!

  • That's very kind of you to say! ¡Gracias! and thanks for watching!
